How old were you when you lost your virginity?

And if you have children old enough, how old were they?

I keep hearing about how kids are losing their virginity younger and younger now so I was curious to know how old you were, compared to your children.

I was 17. Dh was 13.

DD is 10 and still at the age where anything sexual grosses her out (thank god). They are currently doing sex education at school at the moment and she comes home horrified every time

14 but it was abusive with an adult.

DD 16 and no interest in losing it whatsoever.

Hoplolly · 21/02/2024 12:34

I was 17, DH was 17 (and it was to each other 😂) but we had a long break after that.

My DD was just turned 17 with a long-term boyfriend that she is still with.

FawnFrenchieMum · 21/02/2024 12:35

I was around 15, never asked DH. I believe DS was 16 but don’t know for sure. DD11 so hoping a way off yet.

HeadsShouldersTitsandArse · 21/02/2024 12:38

14 - it took me a lot of years to realise I was peer pressured into it too. I thought I was just nervous.
The words “I promise I won’t go under your underwear” remain forever ingrained into my brain.

I have a daughter and I hope to be completely open with her, there will be no ounce of judgment or criticism from me when it comes to talk about boy, relationships, sex. I’m not going to tell her what she can’t or can’t do. I’ll be there to listen, if she asks for my opinion I’ll give her that. I just want her to be safe and know she has options and a choice.

DaisyHaites · 21/02/2024 12:38

16, with my boyfriend who was 19 (and not a virgin).

Absolutely no regrets, and I’m not in the camp of hoping my children do it differently.

I’m amazed so many parents know the ages their DC lost their virginity. I would rather have died than had such a cringey conversation with my parents!

I’m more amazed that parents share share this information about their children if they do know. Weird thread really asking this about people’s kids. Pervs have been all over these sorts of threads previously. It may be ‘anonymous’ but I just don’t know why people would share this.

18, to DH which even makes me want to barf with how twee it is 🤣

Haha I'm exactly the same... 18 to now DH and it makes me cringe 😂 DH was 13 which alarmed me when he told me. Kids are only 5 and 3 so thankfully a long way to go but I hope they'll be well into their 30's 👀

17, and glad to say that, unlike my prior sexual assault and subsequent rapes, he asked if I was sure and insisted on condoms. He was a compulsive liar and generally shit bf but he was really good about consent and sexual safety, I suspect purely because he didn't want fatherhood or rape charges!

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 21/02/2024 12:47

I was 18 and lost it to my DH. He was 21 when he lost his to someone else.

Moonshiny · 21/02/2024 12:49

Mine is a bit tricky because I was 'techically' 11 as I was raped but I class it as 17 when I first had consensual sex.

A pity my boyfriend at the time didn't see it that way when I finally felt comfortable to tell him... instead he told me that I'd lied to him about being a virgin 🙃

Thegiantofillinois · 21/02/2024 12:49

16, yr 12. I felt like quite a late starter, compared to others.
Thanks to imbibing the message from just 17 from age 12 (well meaning) that you should only have sex with someone you love, I convinced myself I loved the lad after 6 weeks, then wasted 2 years with him. I would have had much more fun if I'd taken it as:"have sex when you're ready and make sure it's enjoyable, but don't feel like you have to stick to one person. "

I’m so sorry. What an utter piece of shit to say that to you.

Grin

The po-faced posts of "my first and only" like it makes them somehow morally superior also make me want to barf, so I like your style. Grin

Selbyscat · 21/02/2024 12:52

I was 11 ( it was not consensual I was groomed by my older brother). It's so difficult to write this down even after 40 years.

My first consensual experience was with my DH at 19.

Stickthatupyourdojo · 21/02/2024 12:52

I was 18, but the last out of all of my mates. DH was around 21 I think and also years after all but one of his friends (this was before we met).

FasterthanaButteredOtter · 21/02/2024 12:54

Oneofthesurvivors · 21/02/2024 11:47

13, it wasn't consensual.

I'm so sorry Flowers

Bluebells101 · 21/02/2024 12:55

I was 15, too young if I’m honest. My DS (nearly 18) hasn’t had sex, I’d know and he’s comfortable talking to me.

icebearforpresident · 21/02/2024 12:56

17, to my now husband (we’ll leave out that part where we only met each other properly that same night).

I wasn’t the first in my group but was probably one of the first.

CactusMactus · 21/02/2024 12:57

I was 14 with a 18 year old boy.... makes me feel sick still.

HoHoHoliday · 21/02/2024 11:58

"Virginity" is such an outdated misogynistic concept, I wish we could move past the idea of it and talk about relationships and sexuality with more respect.
You are essentially asking people when was the first time they had a penis in their vagina! What does it matter to you?
The first time for me I was a child, it wasn't consensual, but by definition I "lost my virginity". The first time I had a consensual sexual relationship was with a woman, there was no penetration, by definition I would not have "lost my virginity" this way.
Move past the old fashioned idea of what it means.

Good points.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 21/02/2024 12:57

17

my children were (or will be) all over 18

Iwant2beJessicaFletcher · 21/02/2024 12:58

I was 18. DH the same.

DS was 16

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 21/02/2024 13:01
  1. Both my DC were a couple of years older.
mitogoshi · 21/02/2024 13:01

18, one of my dc was 20, the other 16 (possibly 15 she had opportunity but she admits to 16)

Again, really sorry these were your experiences with shitty people. Flowers
