How old were you when you lost your virginity?

And if you have children old enough, how old were they?

I keep hearing about how kids are losing their virginity younger and younger now so I was curious to know how old you were, compared to your children.

I was 17. Dh was 13.

DD is 10 and still at the age where anything sexual grosses her out (thank god). They are currently doing sex education at school at the moment and she comes home horrified every time

  1. ex DH 14 I think. Current fella 15. No idea about my now adult kids, but around the same age probably.

15 - everything but PIV
16 or 17 - PIV. It was around the time of my birthday and I can't remember exactly

This was in the 2000s

"Virginity" is such an outdated misogynistic concept, I wish we could move past the idea of it and talk about relationships and sexuality with more respect.
You are essentially asking people when was the first time they had a penis in their vagina! What does it matter to you?
The first time for me I was a child, it wasn't consensual, but by definition I "lost my virginity". The first time I had a consensual sexual relationship was with a woman, there was no penetration, by definition I would not have "lost my virginity" this way.
Move past the old fashioned idea of what it means.

Great post.

I was 28 and I got pregnant

Lovemusic82 · 21/02/2024 12:14

14….a few days before my 15th.

I’m amazed so many parents know the ages their DC lost their virginity. I would rather have died than had such a cringey conversation with my parents!

I actually called my mum the next day and told her. Her response: “Don’t worry m it will get better!” 😆

  1. 6-7 years after my friends did.
sawnotseen · 21/02/2024 12:16

Oh and my boyfriend was two years older. So 17.

  1. Normal in my community in the 70s.
CeilingGranny · 21/02/2024 12:18

I was fifteen. I was very keen on the idea, it was with a long term boyfriend who I was very much in love with at the time, and I have absolutely no regrets. It was really romantic and exciting.

I'm more interested in the circumstances than the age. I'd much rather DC had a good experience with a caring partner at a slightly younger age than something chaotic with a random at 19 or 20.

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 21/02/2024 12:20

14, he was 14. Typical first boyfriend story.

Wouldn't change it, taught me a lot about what I didn't want in a man. 😂

Tisfortired · 21/02/2024 12:21

I was 17 and one of (if not the) last in my friendship group.

With a boyfriend but not a boyfriend I particularly liked, I just wanted to get it over with. My next time was with DP and we’ve been together 15 years now.

My eldest is 10 and the thought of him doing it in 3 years time like some people here is horrifying.

15, a couple of months before my 16th birthday 😳

Me too

I'd be horrified if either of my dds did the same now. I was more streetwise than them which wasn't necessary a good thing

My DP was 13, I couldn’t even imagine myself at 13 doing anything like that, I think it’s way too young.

midnights0 · 21/02/2024 12:24

I was 16, just asked Dh and he was 14 😦

Upsidedowncat · 21/02/2024 12:26

I was 19. Dh was 18 I think (if not he was only a few weeks away from 18 as I think i might remember it was Easter!). Yes, I married my first!

Funkyslippers · 21/02/2024 12:26

Naptrappedmummy I never had the conversation with my mum but I had a boyfriend so I'm sure she figured it out. Same for my DD1. She'd been seeing this boy for a while in secret then told me, she was 18, so I assume they weren't playing chess 🤣

Yes, I doubt many actually told their parents @Naptrappedmummy I feel like mine would have guessed as he was my first boyfriend, at 19. We were still together when I turned 20 (and beyond) so would have been a bit weird and naive of them if they thought we hadn't still done it!
