Hi all, had lots of family stuff going on. Last week I cleaned out the fridge, emptied some plants pots of dead plants and did lots of other small putting away jobs, as well as absorb ds uni stuff into space we don’t have (massive amount😖and totally exhausting). Trying not to feel like we have a Doom House atm. Today I’m going to change the sheets, and water the plants, meal plan and knit (whilst watching Olympics), stay sort of sane and anything else is a bonus.
Hope everyone is coping with the heat, esp little ones, and over bugs. It’s been 30+ here ugh.

sortmyselfoutagain · 30/07/2024 11:37

I’ve been working all weekend and feel like I’ve not managed to do anything for myself so I am having a very lazy morning.

You’re absolutely right @Peridot1 I just need to focus on one thing. I don’t have time for anything else today before work but one thing off the list would be good.

DH and I have been together for 6 years and I keep saying I’m going to print all our photos and make albums. After last week’s scare of thinking I’d lost all our photos I’ve decided now is the time! So today’s task is to set up a separate folder within my photos app and add the ones from our first year together.

Hope everyone is getting some decent weather today!

SpiritOfEdna · 30/07/2024 11:58

Morning
Busy work day for me and someone appears to be drilling right outside the window! SpiritDoggo has hidden herself away somewhere cool, still moping about her sore paw. I am going to try and get a look at it later.
Today:

  • One gym session down - DONE
  • Dismantle the exercise bike so it can go to the tip
  • need to find a picture for a haircut tomorrow - I need inches chopping off and I always end up looking like severus snape, so hoping to avoid that 😄
  • My desk is a mess of books and cables so need to tidy that
  • Need to phone car hire company - I now have a speeding ticket coming my way from trip to Cornwall - their admin fee was rejected as my debit card was changed - DONE
  • Pay the dog fee for August trip to Lake District
As ever, managed to do bits around meetings, have a good day all, SoE
Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/07/2024 17:38

A few loooong lists here! 👏

Just maintaining over at chez Havoc. Weather has cooled and it rained most of yesterday and is sprinkling so far this morning. Have got loads of admin to do and plan is to get it done during dc naps today. 🤞

RunningKatie · 30/07/2024 20:34

So confused today, nearly turned up for book club a week early!
Done some ironing as it has cooled down a bit this eve, washed all the bedding today and got it all out in the sunshine for hours, swept through downstairs, updated the calendar for the next few weeks.
I'm giving the dc a job a day, it's not being well received! Today they've emptied out school bags, dc1 has decluttered their windowsill and dc2 has tidied away a pile of their crafts. I've explained a bit a day will make it so much easier to find things by the end of the holiday. They aren't convinced!

Peridot1 · 30/07/2024 21:32

I love that plan @RunningKatie - definitely the ethos of the thread!

Aria999 · 31/07/2024 00:41

Nice @RunningKatie !

DC here have to tidy their room if they want after bed iPad. Surprisingly effective!

Notthatcatagain · 31/07/2024 01:37

I've watered all the houseplants today, they all seemed very grateful. Stripped the bed right off and washed the lot, bedding, matress and pillow covers included. Cut out and stared to sew a new dress, barely enough fabric so it was a bit of a mission to cut. We have a massively overgrown bush in the garden so will have a go at that tomorrow which is the day before the bin men come, aiming to fill the dustbin then stop and get on with my sewing. I have birthday cake to make for the weekend. Hoping to persuade the DH to clean the tops of our wardrobes, not mentioned it yet.

SpiritOfEdna · 31/07/2024 15:16

@Notthatcatagain thirsty plants always enjoy a good drink 😄I need to carry on sewing my trousers but am having trouble interpreting the pattern😭
Today:

  • hairdresser visit done - also paid for parking 😄I was having a post haircut coffee and realised I had a hairy chest not sure how they got there under all the swaddling😄
  • the great bike dismantle continues, nearly there - can't wait to get it to the tip
  • need a general tidy up, but energy levels are low (or more precisely a touch of the can't be bothereds!) Maybe when it gets cooler today.
Tidying up and the bike will be a result today, I think, have a good day, SoE
RunningKatie · 31/07/2024 17:46

More bedding out on the line today, it's so good for have more than 1 day of sunshine in a row!
Jobs for the dc today, dc1 stripped their bed, dc2 has washed all the bath toys. I've also cleaned the bath, logged their activity hours and put some paper in the shredding pile.
I feel tonight is a good evening for a chilled white wine in the garden.

SingleThreadJoiner · 02/08/2024 15:16

A quick hello here, we've arrived at our holiday destination (which also happens to be my home country ☺️) so I am looking forward to a week of very little except pool, beach, and grandparents taking care of the child! See you on the other side...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/08/2024 18:21

Not much happening here for extra projects. Tweaked my back almost two weeks ago then again two nights ago, so struggling with day to day. Reading everyone's posts though! 👍

SummerLobelia · 03/08/2024 10:45

Have a lovely holiday @SingleThreadJoiner !

Hope your back is better @Mumtobabyhavoc . You cannot be too careful with backs so please do take it easy.

Not alot happening here- we had a really busy week so things fell by the wayside. But I have done an hour's housework this morning and things look in better shape. Next on the agenda is ironing, putting away yesterday's ironing and now the weather is cooler making an assessment of what needs to be done in the garden.

Hope everyone has a good day!

RunningKatie · 05/08/2024 07:19

I think I'm weekend'ing wrong - Monday morning and I'm shattered. Can't even blame it on the heat sadly as it's cool again.
Wfh today, already got some washing on. Yesterday we put a load of things in the loft, I gave away some bikes on a local page, did some gardening and cleaned the bathroom.
Feels like there's lots to do in the house, next week dh is taking dc2 camping for a couple of nights so I'll be able to do some bits but still have dc1 and ddog, plus working!
Hope everyone's enjoying their holidays and a bit of downtime.

SpiritOfEdna · 05/08/2024 15:44

Afternoon, sewing theme today

  • another clothing cull, some buttons to sew on shirts before they go in the charity bag
  • fix the wrap around tie for a dressing gown that the dog chewed when she was a puppy
  • move the loops on another dressing gown (another puppy repair 😄)
  • try a jeans hemming hack I saw in Instagram: no doubt i will keep hacking away and they'll end up as shorts
  • I've done the usual blitz of moving around and putting things back in the right place
  • I also need to go in the shed to get the sander and put the hammer and picture hanging kit away
That's all for today, have a good day all SoE
Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/08/2024 04:23

Managed to get into garden this evening and pruned everything like a psychopath. 🔪 Tomato plants were taking over and strangling the poor pepper plant and some lettuce. Got ruthless and dug up some lettuce, moved one thriving romaine and replanted another that's at least 2 feet tall. Everything has space now. 👍
Havoc and I munched on some blueberries that were ripe and I should be able to pick a good amount in a couple days. The cherries are a write off as the crows get there first. 🤬

RunningKatie · 10/08/2024 09:46

Hope everyone's ok and enjoying their summer. End of week 3 of the holidays. I've not managed to stand up from the floor unaided yet, the charity bags are still in the boot of dh's car and the pile of school books to be skimmed through is still in on the landing.
Much to be achieved in the second half I think!

Peridot1 · 10/08/2024 10:48

Hello all. I lost the thread until it just popped up with @RunningKatie’s post this morning.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying summer. Such as it is!

I have a busy week coming up getting ready for my friend arriving next Saturday from Australia. And DS’s new wardrobes are in and look amazing and we have filled them. A few more bits of his to get out of the spare room and then I can get it ready for my friend.

Unfortunately the display unit being built for the dining area will be a work in progress. The base will be in but we will be waiting for the stone counter top before the top part can be installed. I ideally wanted it all done by yesterday but it wasn’t to be.

I have lots of bits and pieces to do. I have a sort of list but need to do another one. My ADD brain can’t decide where to start at the moment. And I need to do a garden list for DH to make sure we are on the same page about what needs doing there.

Have a great day all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/08/2024 22:21

Peridot, the thread has been a bit quiet and I thought everyone had gone to another party. 🥲

Katie, what happened? Either I forgot, or missed your post.

On the phone talking/on hold with phone/mobility/internet provider. Landline isn't working and I keep getting google messages not allowing me to search the internet due to "unusual traffic."

SummerLobelia · 11/08/2024 08:09

Morning.

I am still here. Smile. Just not been posting much because not much is going on and I am in a slump. Hope to drag myself out of it.

I've heard from our lovely @FrostyFrogg as well offline and she sends her best to all the lovely projecteers. She's taking a MN break as real life is needing her undivided attention for a bit.

I have so much to do that I also can't decide where to start and it has paralysed me a bit. Overcoming that was the original point of the original threads! So I need to remind myself of that and do 'Just One Thing' as the sadly late Dr Moseley would say.

My Just One thing today...........um..... I need to pay some attention to my balcony pots. Some weeding, rearranging and watering plus tie up the climbing rose I have there.

Love to you all. Thanks

sortmyselfoutagain · 11/08/2024 08:34

Hello all! I’m still here, I really need to make an effort to post more often. Not much has been happening here just work work work. I’ve been writing lots of lists of things I’d like to get done just need to find the motivation to actually do them.

Today has been a very productive day so far and it’s only 8:30am. I’ve been for a walk, filled up on petrol, got money from the ATM, been to the roll shop and washed my hair! Just waiting on the Asda delivery then I’m going to crack on with today’s list.

The one job of today is to open a new bank account online anything else I can get done today is a bonus.

Off to read back everyone’s posts since I was last here.

Peridot1 · 11/08/2024 09:27

@Mumtobabyhavoc - yes it really was a bit quiet here! I don’t think anything happened to @RunningKatie - I think one of her aims over the summer is to be able to get up from the floor without holding onto something - it’s supposed to be very important as we get older. I definitely can’t do it!

Hi @SummerLobelia. Glad all is well. But a slump sounds concerning - hope you are ok.

@sortmyselfoutagain - sounds like you have done lots today already! I’m still in my pjs drinking tea.

Today’s list:

  • dishwasher and kitchen
  • laundry
  • cut lawn edges
  • clean top shelves in wardrobes in DS’s room and put some boxes away
  • clear out shoe cupboard and rack in hall
  • clear out racks in fridge door

Relax! Want some time in garden reading too.

petalpower · 11/08/2024 09:38

I’m still here too but just totally overwhelmed with some really big family stuff in my extended family and struggling with managing aged parents with health crises. Life is a bit challenging at the moment. I’ll keep reading and post when I can. Love to all Flowers

RunningKatie · 11/08/2024 10:25

Yep, don't panic, I'm not stuck on the floor! I just want to be able to get up without putting my hands down, it's supposed to be a life skill. Don't think I've ever mastered it.
It's due to be warm here today, I've just cut a little posy of sweet peas and put them on the table. It's made me quite content!
Washing is on so it can be pegged out in a bit, we've hosted a sleepover so I need to straighten up the house a bit. Then I'm going to tackle a job. And also throw a teenager outside into some fresh air.

Peridot1 · 11/08/2024 10:51

I was wondering how you were doing @petalpower. Sorry to hear things are stressful. Hugs.
