I'm scared

I know there's no magical answer but I just need to get my thoughts out. Sorry. I'm terminally ill. I'm 38 with an amazing DH, one adult daughter and one nearly adult daughter (19 and 17). I've just spent three weeks in hospital getting blood transfusions and iron infusions and currently I head to the emergency day procedure every three days for more. I have scope tests amd another procedure next Sunday. I'm in agonising pain, even with the highest dose morphine. I can do nothing for myself. I can't stop crying. I know there's people in far worse positions than me but I'm just struggling so badly at the moment. I know this thread is completely pointless to everyone reading it, but I just needed to vent, sorry

Rant away, you absolutely deserve it. I'm so sorry for what you are going through.

DiamondGazette · 07/02/2024 17:07

This sounds like a tough time for you, sending you positive vibes. I hope you feel a bit brighter after the blood transfusion. Do you have a treatment plan in place? Unmanageable pain is the worst.

Tilllly · 07/02/2024 17:55

Bugger. Pain is bad enough but the blood loss will wipe you out too

Tell them there's an army of MNers expecting nothing but the best for you (in menacing tone!)

Underthesea65 · 07/02/2024 18:17

I'm here now, but so so tired so I'm going to try and sleep while the transfusion is going through. They check blood pressure every half an hour but I think I'll probably be able to dose. Sorry I'm just too tired to type anymore at the moment l hopefully speak to you all later ❤️❤️

You're in my prayers and we're all rooting for you

You are so brave to share your fears here. Keep on venting if it helps. Holding your hand xx

TheChosenTwo · 07/02/2024 18:49

Hope you manage to get a bit of decent sleep 💐

Underthesea65 · 07/02/2024 20:06

Thank you all. I dosed a bit but blood pressure isn't good and I'm having chest pains so currently waiting on a chest scan to see if they can continue with transfusion

Oh bless you. You are stronger than many people by the fact that you have the courage to talk about it all even in so much pain. I hope the transfusions help you feel a bit better soon, have they sorted out your pain meds yet? I know this is nothing at all like what you are going through but I remember when I was in labour and all your mind thinks of is “ get me all the sodding drugs now” to stop the pain, one thing that got me through was lots of humour from my husband. Would you like us to message any funny stories or I don’t know little jokes to make you giggle? Sending you my love xxxx

Haha, I don't do anything by halves
Yes DH is with me. He's my full time carer so he goes everywhere with me. He's keeping me laughing, so always a plus. Scan was okay thankfully so transfusion is continuing. They are going to give me an iron infusion after and then I can go home and back in tomorrow for same again.

I'll never turn down funny stories. love to laugh, because if you can't laugh, you have nothing. Pain meds still not sorted as unfortunately I'm on the highest dose of literally everything they can give me, do I don't know what they are going to do.

OP, I am so sorry for your tough situation. But I am so glad you have your DH with you and he's keeping you laughing, that's lovely xxx

Glad you’re not on your own.
I’ve got a joke that I heard once and it’s the only one I can ever remember but it does make me laugh:
why did the squirrel swim on his back?
TO KEEP HIS NUTS DRY!
