I'm scared

I know there's no magical answer but I just need to get my thoughts out. Sorry. I'm terminally ill. I'm 38 with an amazing DH, one adult daughter and one nearly adult daughter (19 and 17). I've just spent three weeks in hospital getting blood transfusions and iron infusions and currently I head to the emergency day procedure every three days for more. I have scope tests amd another procedure next Sunday. I'm in agonising pain, even with the highest dose morphine. I can do nothing for myself. I can't stop crying. I know there's people in far worse positions than me but I'm just struggling so badly at the moment. I know this thread is completely pointless to everyone reading it, but I just needed to vent, sorry

I'd love to post a picture of my dog but the wee fucker legs it each time my camera is out and I only have pictures of her arse. 😂

I don't know what I'm going to do. We have just received a solicitors letter, they are starting court proceedings to take the house off us, as we have been unable to pay the mortgage due to not working. I can't take anymore 😭😭😭

Have you any life insurance in place? Often they're quite useful.
Can dh call up and explain the situation? You don't fucking need this 💔

Lwrenn · 08/02/2024 12:21

@Underthesea65 also, tax credits will be able to pay off your interest if you look into that?

They know the situation, we have explained it many times. Also we were paying a ton of money a month so that if anything like this happend our mortgage would be paid and they keep refusing to pay out.

OP I'm so sorry to hear of your situation.

Do you have any employer or private pensions? If so it may be worth checking what their rules are on taking pension / drawing down early due to terminal illness. I've just copied this from the moneyhelper website:

Ill health and defined benefit schemes

Some defined benefit schemes (which includes final salary and career average pensions) can begin paying your pension early in the event of permanent ill health.
Usually, this type of pension is reduced if it’s paid early. But many schemes won’t make this reduction if you take your pension early due to ill health.
The maximum amount payable is what you would have got if you continued working to your normal retirement date.
Where your life expectancy is expected to be less than one year, the scheme’s rules might allow you to take the whole value of your pension as a tax-free cash lump sum.
A serious ill-health lump sum paid before you reach the age of 75 will be paid tax-free, provided you have available lifetime allowance and have not previously taken any money from your pension.

Defined contribution pension pots

If you need to give up work due to ill health, you may be able to access your pension pot early, regardless of your age.
The amount you could get depends on the terms and conditions of the policy. If you’re unwell, check your options with your pension provider.
You should have the same options for taking your money as you would normally have at the age of 55.
If you decide to use some or all your pension pot to purchase an annuity to provide a guaranteed income, an impaired life or enhanced annuity could give you higher levels of income.
The annuity rate you’re offered is based on an estimate of your personal life expectancy. This is calculated using the medical information supplied.

I’m so very sorry. You’re in such a vulnerable position at the moment and the mortgage fuckers are such parasites! I think that given your current pain levels you should ask about Pregabalin (Gabapentin) as well as morphine. You shouldn’t have to suffer like this. Even discuss using fentanyl patches with the morphine.

I'm on pregablin as well as the patches and morphine already and yes the mortgage people are parasites. Can't believe they are refusing to pay out..if they don't I'm going to ask them fpr a refund of all thr money we paid to have thay cover as it was obviously mis sold if they won't give it to is. What was the point of paying them for situations like this? I just don't understand

Vulpellac · 08/02/2024 22:29

Very sorry to read this, OP, and to hear what a tough night you're having. You are in my prayers x.

Maybe consider taking this to the press if they continue to refuse to pay out?

DBSFstupid · 08/02/2024 22:32

In so sorry about the situation you’re in. Sending my strength, hopes and prayers.

Nevercloserfortherestofourlives · 09/02/2024 20:55

I’m going to be here for a while. I’ve nothing to do so talking to you would be grand.

Zanatdy · 09/02/2024 21:01

So sorry to read your story. I’d recommend asking about seeing the pain team. I found them very helpful with the disease I have. I find oxycodone much better than oral morphine and if you’re in constant pain I’d recommend a patch that you change every 12hrs, then top up meds

Fraaahnces · 09/02/2024 22:58

Absolutely ask to speak to the pain team and also ask about getting a prescription for something like Valium to help you sleep and get a break from the anxiety.

Underthesea65 · 10/02/2024 04:51

Hi all, sorry for being AWOL. I've ended up back in hospital. Currently on IV antibiotics due to a really severe infection. So I'm very tired and weak
