That's great you are being discharged soon Havoc so much nicer to be home.
Glad you are feeling better as well.

Happy Birthday Death

DH has been in Paris seeing MIL, brother, SIL and niece. Pretty quiet here, DS has been gaming, DD was out with friends and now studying and I've been Floofing and watching films.

Tilllly · 30/12/2023 23:15

@Deathraystare
It's not Christmas until I have the Christmas radio times

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 30/12/2023 23:44

Happy birthday Death. What on earth is a toilet key though?

I'm feeling rotten. Hope I'm just worn out and not coming down with something. Have done nothing useful all day. Mainly been reading.

Radar key - for disabled toilets

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 31/12/2023 04:16

Thanks Tilllly I didn't even know those keys existed 😳

Lemonsandlemonade · 31/12/2023 07:08

@MallardsMoorhensAndLethe yeah they do but sometimes the states of these toilets honestly are horrid. It’s a real gamble when you open them sometimes.

Hope your DH had a good trip to France Floof.

Am so pleased you are near going home Havoc. Nothing better than home.

We have booked our summer holiday to France. The accommodation not the travel. We are debating with the travel as we want to take a ferry but the cost from Portsmouth is £250 more than last year. It is our preferred crossing as it takes us further south.

halfpasteleven · 31/12/2023 07:20

Huge congratulations to you Havoc- will be lovely to be home with your two havocs.
I hope you can rest and also enjoy the snuggles and cuddles.

Happy new year everyone. Wishing you all a happy, healthy and peaceful 2024.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/12/2023 14:05

First night home and comedy ...of sorts:
was up to feed baby at 4:30am. Was warming top-up bottle of formula. Baby begins crying.
Toddler wakes, crying now, too.
Baby scream-cries which then scares toddler who begins crying harder.
One amps up the other.
Change diaper on baby. Crying stops.
Toddler soaked through diaper, pyjamas wet.
Wash toddler and change diaper. Put on clean pyjamas. Still crying as was wet. Give milk.
Put back to bed.
Go nurse baby.
Now 6:00am and both asleep: baby in cot, toddler snuggled beside me. Snoring. Now also has my cold. Then talking in sleep just said, Byyyyyye...🤷‍♀️

MrsFloof · 31/12/2023 14:17

Wishing everyone a happy New Year and a good 2024 full of happiness and pet cuddles and baby cuddles for Havoc

DH has been to France for a couple of nights to see his relatives and is currently driving back, some he has not seen since pre-covid so nice for him. I've been here with the kids and pets and looking forward to having DH back especially as he is collecting a F&M hamper I ordered for presents for DS for his birthday and a few nice biscuits and champagne truffles for us. Will have a nice meal and champagne and truffles here tonight then may head to Norfolk for fireworks on the beach tomorrow, weather permitting which is a big if.

MissConductUS · 31/12/2023 15:37

Happy New Year to one and all.

Havoc, I remember the joy of having an infant and a toddler simultaneously. Good luck.

Tomorrow is DH's birthday, so I've picked up his favorite chocolate mousse cake from the posh bakery. We're doing a roast chicken dinner tonight. We're both teetotal, so we don't make a big thing out of NYE.

Happy Birthday to your DH MissC

We have a bottle of champagne but don't normally drink. We often party with friends for NYE in Paris but missed 2 years with lockdown, then one with cancer, went last year but just here this year to be with DS.

DD has been out with her friend who bought her a present, she says she turned down 2 parties and is staying with us. We have an F&M hamper here with lemon curd biscuits and champagne truffles, hamper is a bigger one for Floof. Just ordered a Thai takeaway.

Deathraystare · 31/12/2023 17:11

@MrsFloof

By truffles I hope you mean the chocolate ones and not the stinky dig it out the ground ones!

Right, I think I should join you for the Thai! I had one last lunch time. Normally I go for a curry but I had the Pad thai. Gorgeous with the Bangkok Mojito!!!

@MallardsMoorhensAndLethe

I did not know either but two or three friends have told me that it is not just for the disabled which I thought it would be but also for those like me that need to go desperately! So that was a lovely present from a friend. Apparently you can also get a card whereby you can even use staff toilets.

@Lemonsandlemonade

Well the holiday is definitely something to look forward to!

@Tilllly

Reading is never a waste of time!!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. It is on 2nd January but I will not be in the office then.

MrsFloof · 31/12/2023 17:49

I think you should join us with a Thai Death to celebrate the end of 2023 and hopefully a better 2024 and an early celebration of your birthday. DH has just gone to pick our up now.

Definitely chocolate champagne truffles and good news DD has declared she doesn't like them.

MrsFloof · 31/12/2023 17:51

Lemons I think for the ferries you can use things like Tesco clubcard points if that helps. Everything is up in price, we had flights cancelled in 2020 to Asia and now twice the price.

Tilllly · 31/12/2023 18:03

Absolutely @Deathraystare

bizzey · 31/12/2023 19:20

Ohhh I have some chocolate champagne truffles as well !!

But right now I am munching my way through a box of Guylian seashells !

I use to be given lots of these chocolates years ago when I was a teacher ,but not had them for years now.

They just don't taste the same 😞!

bizzey · 31/12/2023 19:23

I am on my own this evening which is lovely after the busy week we have had .

bizzey · 31/12/2023 19:25

Hope you all have a lovely evening and best wishes to you all for 2024 x

MrsFloof · 31/12/2023 19:26

That's a shame they don't taste the same Bizzey they used to be lovely. So much chocolate has been ruined since the sugar tax. I'ld move on to the champagne truffles in the interests of research.

Just had Thai and Floof jumped up by me, after a king prawn. I gave him a bit but it had sweet and sour sauce on a little bit and his face was one of complete shock and he jumped back then a big fluffy paw came and he ate it and just sat there like that has just blown my mind. 😂Thankfully meant I could eat the rest in peace.

Just put the champagne in the fridge, always have a good supply here with being married to a Frenchman, he can get it very cheaply and its much nicer as well. Though I rarely drink.

KathieFerrars · 31/12/2023 19:30

Hello all. We've had beef stew. Dog has taken herself off to hide in the down stairs loo because where we live people can't tell the time and we've had fireworks ( she is terrified of bangs). Sone 2 has gone on a NY jolly with lovely girlfriend. Son 1 cooked us a simple lunch today after we got soaked playing our sport.

Echobelly · 31/12/2023 19:35

DS (12) got back from a short residential winter camp at lunchtime - we'd been a bit concerned as he'd slept badly a few nights before and were half expecting a call to come pick him up because he can't cope well without sleep, but it seems a change of scene and some busy days sorted that issue out.

15yo has two friends over (one staying the night), and the teens have just made everyone some garlic bread. We're going to play card games and eat nibbles and hopefully stay awake. Might try to convince everyone to watch The Truman Show, which is on Netflix.

gocompare · 31/12/2023 19:38

I'm in jamas. Feels like a school night. I feel sorry for anyone braving it and going out to celebrate in this weather it is ripping it down here.

Deathraystare · 31/12/2023 19:51

Great result!!!!

whyyy321 · 31/12/2023 20:52

Congrats @Mumtobabyhavoc! How exciting, I hope havoc1 is enjoying their new sibling.

We've just had pizza and a glass of wine after putting DS down to bed. We were watching "two doors down" on BBC. I'd like to watch the hogmanay special of still game shortly but I think I might lose the TV channel battle.

No wild night here, hoping the fireworks don't upset the dog or wake the baby. Times have definitely changed. Think we will seek out some pies tomorrow for dinner, apparently pies for dinner on New year's Day are a Scottish tradition.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/12/2023 20:58

Have got a content and sleeping 3-day old baby swaddled and in my arms and an also content toddler dressed in halloween costume alternating between lting in bed and on the couch beside me with pillows.
The sun is trying for a last hurrah and I should get some fresh air with toddler soon adter baby feeds next.
Sounds like everyone this thread is having a peaceful NYE. Can't go wrong with food, jammies and a good film. Will be doing same this side of the world.
Happy New Year lovely calm posters. You've all been so nice to chat with this past year.
