Enjoy your new hair cut and good luck with the job search.

I had my hair cut recently . Not for the same reason as you. My long hair was a rat's nest.
It is much more manageable now and I do not now ĥave to smother loads of hair care on my hair !

Good luck to you.

MissConductUS · 19/02/2024 12:46

Welcome, @Palindrone , and thanks for sharing your eBay listing, cooking, and door-shopping news. We don't get many joiners this late in the thread. I think most jump on when the thread is new so that it shows up in their "threads I'm on" list. My mum had dementia before she passed. It can be challenging. May I ask what part of the world you are located in?

Bizzey, you have Skippy peanut butter in your pantry! I always assumed it was just an American brand.

Lemons, Mongolian Beef is strips of flank steak in a sweet and savory sauce, served over rice. It's common to find it in Chinese restaurants here. I've linked the recipe we use with the Instant Pot pressure cooker.

It was lovely having our future son in law join us for dinner last night. He's been accepted into another graduate school program, so he's spoilt for choice now. We discussed helping them get a better car after the wedding, as they are both driving old bangers. His is a Subaru Forester with over 200k miles on it.

DD left around 6:00 and was back at uni by 8:30.

Tender and flavorful Mongolian beef in a sweet and savory sauce has never been quicker or easier than when prepared in your Instant Pot!

I love Subarus MissC

I missed bin day 🤬 now I have to wait 3 weeks for the next one and the bin is 3/4 full already 😤😩 Damnit.

Lemonsandlemonade · 19/02/2024 18:01

MissC have saved that recipe it looks delicious right up my street.

First day back at work after half term holiday.

MissConductUS · 19/02/2024 18:27

Mallards, we love them too. The first car DH and I bought together was a Legacy station wagon, and we've owned five others since then. Mine is ready to be picked up after the servicing, so we're off to do that shortly. Our future son-in-law's family are also a Subaru fans, so there was no disagreement about what to buy for their first car together.

Lemons, it's a perfect cold weather dish. I double the recipe and freeze the leftovers in quart zip lock bags. If you don't have a pressure cooker, I think that recipe has a link to a slow cooker version somewhere near the bottom of the page.

I'm taking a break from British TV and am watching a science fiction sitcom called Alien Resident. It's about an inept alien who comes to exterminate humanity but loses his extinction weapon and is forced to assume the identity of a small-town doctor while he looks for it in the mountains of Colorado. His human form is quite handsome, so the local women are throwing themselves at him, and the only person in town who can see him as he really is is an eight-year-old boy. It's on Netflix it's and worth a watch.

@MissConductUS

That Alien thing sounds right up my street but do not have Netflix. I grind my teeth each time aa Netflix/Prime/apple tv/sky etc etc is advertised on TV. Grrrr!

MissConductUS · 20/02/2024 16:57

@Deathraystare, I had the name backward. It's Resident Alien.

I've downloaded a few episodes to watch on the plane tomorrow.

It is another cold day here, but the weather looks fine for my flights and is still lovely in Florida. I have to pack tonight, but it will just be a small wheeled carry-on. I don't need much for three nights. I am bringing a bathing suit.

DS has taken the day off to interview for a job at a hedge fund.

I had another wildlife sighting at the reservoir! The crane (or a crane) has returned. His neck is tucked in, trying to stay warm. They stock the reservoir with trout, but not for another month or two. I don't know if there are enough fish in it this time of year to sustain him or not.

After 24 hours of confusion, it turns out my puppy has been microchipped twice..

So she has 2 numbers

No one knows how this could be

Penguinsa · 20/02/2024 21:57

Good luck with job search Echo

So annoying about the bins Mallards

Lovely crane pic MissC

Did our accounts file so up to date and deleted about 700 emails and watched part of Below Deck, will finish soon. Went to a National Trust gardens for a walk round the daffodils and snowdrops with DH then went to the Toby carvery as DD had requested a takeaway one. They said they had run out of meat at 7pm 🤔so got 3 veg ones, DD is veggie, I was happy with veggie as didn't want too many calories, DS and DH still ate there's. DS had taken a bath whilst we were out, half my bottles were knocked over, its like a small clumsy elephant has been in the bath but good he's bathing.

Tilllly · 20/02/2024 22:43

Which NT @Penguinsa ?

Penguinsa · 20/02/2024 22:49

Anglesey Abbey Tilllly Not too many open at the moment.

We might go to Chatsworth House when it opens from 16th March, its a bit of a trek but looks lovely and most things don't seem to open until end March.

Tilllly · 20/02/2024 22:57

Not been there

Love Chatsworth though

We were in the Cotswolds recently and managed to find a good few NTs but they were open on random days. Was quite a feat of organisation

The Fleece inn is a NT 😆 we forced ourselves to visit

Penguinsa · 20/02/2024 23:44

That sounds nice Tilllly We stayed a night in the Lake District last year and saw Beatrix potters cottage and the pub next to that isn't NT I think but is very like her cottage Tower Bank Arms. We stayed there and was lovely though asd DS refused breakfast as they had a posh menu.

Tilllly · 21/02/2024 02:09

All the BP stuff drives me mad in the lace district!

Penguinsa · 21/02/2024 07:11

🙀Tilllly I love BP and the bunnies.

Bins have just been collected - I still dislike having the day moved to Wed from Mon as its much harder to remember mid week and need to put a reminder each week so don't forget. Our black bin is already full with a week to go.

MissConductUS · 21/02/2024 18:25

I've arrived, and I got a free upgrade to a suite due to a small problem with my reservation. I have the afternoon off and the pool awaits. Grin

That looks so appealing, MissC. Enjoy your dip.

Funny the topic of resident alien / alien resident should come up. I spent yesterday trying to weave my way through the USCIS website and leave an email about my very long overdue renewed green card. I paid my $$$ fee and did the renewal application in 2021 and am still waiting for progress - the normal wait from start to finish is nine months, according to the website. I'm now almost at 36 months. They've sent me two printable paper extensions so far by email, so the application isn't lost. It is apparently not possible to speak to an actual human at USCIS. The 800 number takes you to a very annoying robot.

IWanderedLonely · 21/02/2024 21:47

I live near Chatsworth; it is amazing but we probably take it for granted.
We're looking after DB's dog this week so I'm getting my steps in for once! Even had a little jog with her on Sunday ( first time since October).

I love the chickens with the furry feet

sproutsandparsnips · 22/02/2024 00:05

Is that whole room just for you Miss?
I love a NT property Tillly and Penguinsa
Iwandered and Tillly have you been to Chatsworth at Christmas? I would like to go.
Had an annoying day! After a 12 hour day in work I bumped my tyre on the kerb and it went flat. The RAC estimated arrival between midnight and 2 am. Luckily DH and DFIL drove up with tyre inflator and it held up all the way home. Just need to see if still inflated in the morning.....

Penguinsa · 22/02/2024 00:22

Hope you tyre is OK Sprouts

Enjoy the pool MissC

Went to get a lime to find out DS had taken and eaten all 3 limes in one go. 🤔Ordered a giant sofa beanbag for DS which arrived today but need to get it out of box. DD is on half term.

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 22/02/2024 02:29

Looks lush MissC.

I laughed at the limes Penguinsa he must have a taste for them.

Sprouts I curse that they don't put spare tyres with cars any more.

Been building flat pack furniture today and rearranging the room. Looking loads better now.

Penguinsa · 22/02/2024 02:38

Good you have furniture done Mallards We have one to make here.

DS I remember once we were on holiday in Australia and the lady at the B&B we were at had made a steak stew and also had a bowl of cut up limes and she said help yourself to the limes if you want to add lime to your meal. DS then said that he loved limes and immediately started eating them by themselves and loads of them and the lady was very sweet saying yes or you can eat them like that it's fine. 😳That was a whole bowl full of them. At least he's getting vitamin C but who binge eats limes?🤣

Tilllly · 22/02/2024 02:38

Looks fab @MissConductUS , enjoy!

@sproutsandparsnips I've done chatsworth at Christmas a few times - it's best if you can do it at the same time as the Cmas market, but can be hard to get tickets
The house is always amazing but the grounds are lit up - it's a brilliant event, and they don't oversell tickets so it's not heaving

@MallardsMoorhensAndLethe I thought spare tyres were a legal requirement?
