Thanks for the new thread MissC.

I cut my hair and it looks very cute. We're off to look at Christmas houses tonight. Some people round here do excellent displays. They must have a huge electric bill but I guess they don't care.

MrsFloof · 20/12/2023 19:12

Thanks for new thread MissC

bizzey · 20/12/2023 19:16

Hello everyone and thank you MissC ...

I do love this thread so much .
Having a catch-up with friends is always so therapeutic 😅!

I had a long awaited Christmas decoration arrive today ....

Box ix bathed and the item inside is completely snapped in half !

Ordered a refund and collection for tomorrow... but from the bits I saw ...it was lovely 😭🤣😅😅!

Going to risk ordering another one and hope this was just a blip on the delivery side !

bizzey · 20/12/2023 19:17

Errrr....the box was not bathed ....it was battered !!!

bizzey · 20/12/2023 19:19

has someone changed their name ..? ! 😅😻😻!

MissConductUS · 20/12/2023 19:19

I love the new handle, MrsFloof.

Mallards, I wonder about the electric bill for those houses too, but I think the LED Christmas lights use just a fraction of the power the old bulb-style ones did.

The weather forecast here looks good through Christmas. I have to pick up cupcakes tomorrow for DD's birthday. She desperately wanted a new Apple Watch, so she was quite pleased that we bought it weeks ago. Apple has had to stop selling them in the US due to a patent dispute.

I did wonder why you were bathing your Christmas decorations Bizzey but then thought could be a MN thing where every item in your house has to be washed at least once a day.

Lots of lovely Christmas house decorations here too Mallards I thought it must cost a lot though someone said its gone down a lot with LED. At least it means when we go out swimming we don't need to use the mobile phone light anymore. 😂

bizzey · 20/12/2023 19:23

I think Floofs slave would be a good one as well !! 😅🤣!

MrsFloof · 20/12/2023 19:23

Yes its hard to guess who isn't it? 🙀

whyyy321 · 20/12/2023 19:25

Thanks for the new thread! Nothing exciting here, everyone is still ill urgh.

Just had some leek and potato soup though so that's something haha. Off to my bed to watch a film under the duvet!

sproutsandparsnips · 20/12/2023 22:01

Thank you MrsFloof and Mallards!
Thank you for new thread Miss.
Bizzey I agree, this thread has been such a comfort for the last few years!
Finished work now, due to a happy coincidence of dates and colleagues' preferences I have an unprecedented time off now until 27th!
Busy day tomorrow......

Catsfrontbum · 20/12/2023 22:05

I’ve always lurked.

Today I listened to my audio book whilst giving the bathrooms a deep clean and washing/changing bedding.

Just watched a film with Dd and we both had a little cry. Very nice it was too!

MissConductUS · 20/12/2023 22:47

Welcome, @Catsfrontbum, and thanks for delurking. The delurkers are the best part of starting a new thread. How old is your DD, and what film did you watch?

My DD did not find any shoes she liked at Nordstrom's, so she's planning on taking the train into NYC on Friday to visit the mega bridal shop Kleinfeld's. The store was made famous by the TV show "Say Yes to the Dress". I think it's madness to do so the Friday before Christmas, but hey ho. The wedding isn't until June. There will still be shoes available the week after Christmas.

Singleandproud · 20/12/2023 23:08

I'll delurk too, not really news but I took (autistic) teen DD to her sports club Christmas party tonight she went up to the sweet stuff buffet and did me a plate too, not just that but she purposely picked the sweets etc that I like opposed to just picking random things which I thought was really thoughtful and made me a bit warm and fuzzy.

She also went outside independently and took a break with her headphones when she was getting too hot and overwhelmed before rejoining the party which is progress on just deciding that we have to leave NOW.

MissConductUS · 20/12/2023 23:31

Welcome, @Singleandproud, and thanks to you too for delurking. It sounds like you and your daughter had a lovely time at the Christmas party.

DD has informed me that after finding nothing at Nordstrom's today, she also went to Macy's and DSW (Discount Shoe Warehouse) and found nothing she liked there either. I'm hoping she's not being too picky.

That's lovely singleandproud. I have an asd teen boy.

Welcome cats It's such a wonderful thread.

@Tilllly This is where we are.

I just have 2 cortisol and cortisone tests back for late night results as first blood was high and these are also both high bit they wrongly say taken at 9am rather than 11pm. I will message the nurse. I have an adrenal mass for a few years now, it's benign but I think after tests they are now looking for adrenal conditions. I would imagine it's just stress and insomnia but 🤔

MrsFloof · 21/12/2023 00:41

Pineapple rice was good but what should have been my very mild veg with cashew nut stir fry they gave me veg stir fry, lovely veg but no cashew nuts grumpf and chillis so hot and spicy and I like mild. They gave me the dish 1 number wrong.

I was so traumatised by this dear reader I needed a cup of tea and a mince pie before I stabilised again. Very healthy at least the veg and I am now in recovery. 😂

Floof is with me at 12.40am and is trilly.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/12/2023 02:01

Hello everyone ☺️
I'm definitely sick now. Started last night, with a cough, became worse cough and sore throat. Had obgyn appt today and asked if getting sick impacts surgery and it could, but will be assessed if I am still sick next week. Will be doing covid tests daily over next few days and updating doctor. Today was neg, but it's only day one. The most accurate results occur days 3-5. Meanwhile, got an inhaler and sinus spray prescriptions filled.
Dropped batteries and light bulbs off at recycling centre then did a bit of a Costco shop. Bought infant formula, two cans of Enfamil $75!!! There is a shortage right now and prices have jumped. 🤦‍♀️ Costco brand in back-order and not expected until first weeks January. Bit of a panic as I was not able to provide enough milk myself last time so needed formula. Stocked up on diapers for Havoc, but need to track down NB size for new baby.
That's about all... 🤷‍♀️

Tilllly · 21/12/2023 03:34

Thank you for the guiding landing lights @MrsFloof

Ah bollocks @Mumtobabyhavoc
Just what you don't need

mathanxiety · 21/12/2023 03:44

Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery and negative covid tests, havoc. Rest as much as possible.
That price for formula is shocking.

Hope your test results turn out to be insignificant, MrsFloof.

I heard just now that I don't have to be at work tomorrow and I'm dancing a little jig as I have so much to do still, including the entire Christmas dinner shop, and also need to get a gift for DS's girlfriend and DD's boyfriend. This will be a year of gloves and woolly socks for significant others I think. One DD flew in today and DS arrives tomorrow. I promised them lasagna and didn't know when I'd manage to make it, but with no need to get to work, all will be well. Dcat is very discombobulated as usual at the arrival of people who insist on being friendly to her.

MrsFloof · 21/12/2023 04:04

That's fine Tillly I remember well the chemo steroid induced haze and not remembering what had happened in first half of week on Thursday. It's good to have you here.

Hope you make a quick recovery Havoc I would rest and isolate as much as possible so that you can be as well as possible for surgery. Though MissC is our medic.

Thank Math I don't think the results will matter too much, well it's definitely benign. I think it's Cushing's they are looking for now. They haven't said what will happen. Probably more tests. I think sometimes they operate but huge waiting lists at the moment. I am not very bothered in the scheme of things. I hope all the Christmas preps go well.

Floof is very happy. DH got up at 2am to work on a report. I had a cup of tea. Floof decided this meant it was breakfast time and started trilling and leaping around. DH gave him tuna. Very happy Floof. DH is definitely the cat slave here Bizzey Floof seems to view me more as MrsFloof.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/12/2023 06:02

Thanks for the well wishes and advice everyone. 🩷 I've got lots of masks and tests (tests are free here), so I'm well stocked.
Just finished cleaning bathroom as was sick, so feeling a bit sorry for myself atm.
So glad I've had Havoc out to do so many Christmassy things!!! So, no pressure/guilt to go out next few days.
Plan is bath and bed as long as I can get Havoc settled - currently bouncing around. 🤦‍♀️
MrsF, your approach sounds sensible. No need to worry. 🩷

Gwraigygof · 21/12/2023 07:30

I think I'll delurk too, these threads are nice for a general chat, and I'd like to join in! It's lovely to hear about your little wins and nice things, wishing you all well, especially those who are having health struggles upthread.
Nothing exciting here, normal pattern of work, animals, sleep. Looking forward to a few days without work in the equation!

whyyy321 · 21/12/2023 11:18

Oh Havoc what a pain to get ill now! Sounds exactly like what we've had here- coughs, fevers and I got a gastro aspect to it too. Am wondering if it's covid- did have it before (when 24 weeks pregnant, urgh) and feels different this time, but I suppose that's not that weird if there is a new strain. Sipping my coffee and suspicious it doesn't taste very strong- but could be the rubbish instant I buy!

MrsFloof nice name change! Math must be lovely to have them coming home- loved that about Christmas when I was younger, going home to mum. She used to make lasagne for us too when we got home, how funny. That and Christmas eve pjs are traditions I want to have with my DS.

Took the dog out early before work this morning, sky was a lovely hazy pink. So windy here overnight (NE Scotland). DH went over to look at the progress on new kitchen last night, it's looking great though suspect they have put the wrong cupboard doors on! Right colour, wrong design. I am not sure I mind though, as they look very nice in that style. I think they may also have put in spot lights under the cabinets rather than strips, but again I actually think it looks nicer so no complaints here.

Can hear DH listening to music and singing upstairs (both working from home today) and it's lifting my spirits after a boring and stressful few weeks of never ending illness.

Catsfrontbum · 21/12/2023 12:37

We watched Christmas with the Coopers- it was lovely. Quite funnny and gentle and brings a tear to the eye! I recommend.

Off to get our nails done today. High excitement. And buy a couple of last minute presents 🫣😩
