I did it !!!😀

bizzey · 17/02/2024 02:15

Too exhausted to say what ;!

Making a cuppa now ..

mathanxiety · 17/02/2024 04:12

I dropped the car off to the local repair shop to have the tyre looked at, and they will have it ready tomorrow. It's close enough to walk to pick up the car tomorrow, but I'm going to bundle up because we're having a few days of very cold and windy weather.

There have been crews all over town filling potholes with shovelfuls of asphalt and tamping it down. There's lots of hi viz, and temporary traffic cones and Slow signs. There are a few places where I honestly think they need to rip up the street and re-pave completely.

Lemons I hope your DS will recover quickly. Hope you won't get the same thing.
.
Penguinsa very exciting for your DD. What will the day's schedule be?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/02/2024 05:30

Math, glad to know you took quick action re tire.👏

bizzey · 17/02/2024 12:52

Mallards ...Thanks for the tea tip !

Math..so glad the tyre is getting fixed !! 😅

HelenaJustina · 17/02/2024 15:48

I never brought sick children into my bed Lemons I never understood friends who would take vomiting children to their bed with them. a camp bed sounds comfier than the floor, hope your boy is much better soon.

Am yet again sitting poolside at a swim gala. Only one session today but all three tomorrow (7:45am-6pm) so DH and I will split the shift.

Lemonsandlemonade · 17/02/2024 18:58

Helena yeah we are going to get something to go in his room it's just ended up in bad habits- could t leave him in his room with a temp of 39.

DS had mother of all tantrums today due to tiredness he took himself to my bed and slept for an hour and a half.

oh a swimming marathon - sounds tedious I hate the noise of a gala.

Hope tyre not too expensive Math

sproutsandparsnips · 17/02/2024 21:30

Lemons hope DS feels better soon.
Penguinsa that is very exciting for your dd, hope she has a lovely and valuable time.
I say roundabout, sorry Bizzey, how are you feeling?
It's the little things Havoc 😊
Helena is it very warm sitting poolside? I guess the good thing about swimming is it's not weather dependent. DS2's rugby has already been called off for tomorrow due to the epic rain we are having.
DS1 has submitted his application for a medical summer school - he has had to write 2 statements.

mathanxiety · 17/02/2024 21:52

I retrieved my car - the tyre is patched as there was indeed a slow leak caused by a very small metal shard. I'm glad I wore my heavy coat as the wind had quite an edge to it. Damage to the wallet was minimal!

Helena do you find your eyeballs peeling while you're at the swimming galas? DD1 swam and I found the chlorine fumes very irritating.

Lemons how is DS doing today today?

I'm planning to make banana bread this evening as I discovered the necessary three frozen bananas in the freezer. I have half a packet of chocolate chips too.

Penguinsa · 17/02/2024 21:56

Cake sounds great Mallards

Enjoy your trip to Orlando MissC

Hope your DS gets better soon Lemons

How are you Tilllly and your lovely puppy?

Also say roundabout Havoc

Thanks very much Math and Sprouts It looks like the day is quite similar to an open day and quite generic, tour around the college, general questions and if parents go parents tour around the college from about 10.30am to about 4pm overall. So similar to what she did before on the open day but with all people who have offers, her course 97% of people with offers get in though in Oxford you apply to a college (same at Cambridge) and its the college open day so will be across all subjects. But almost everyone accepts and I think with Oxford almost everyone gets in as they do entry tests pre offers. Cambridge can have 50% rejected after offers in subjects with entry tests at same time as A levels but apply before normally. She is going to try and meet people and a nice day out.

Medical summer school sounds great Sprouts hope he gets in, always jobs for doctors.

Glad tyre being fixed Math

Well done Bizzey and Helena on the swimming pool marathon.

Just done hoovering today and bit of cleaning, Floof very cuddly and on my pillow a lot, well DHs pillow but so he can be next to me. Hopefully going to a National Trust place tomorrow for a walk amongst the daffodils and snowdrops, not much on here at the moment.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/02/2024 22:56

Bizzey, feeling any better? Took us all about 3 weeks to get over being sick. Hoping for better for you. 😊
Lemons, how is dc? How are you? It's just survival, isn't it? One of my best friends, a mum of older kids now, said, "Do whatever you can to get through each day." No right/wrong. 🩷 I'm also looking at something similar re sleeping options for Havoc. Take a look at the Ikea "Slakt" kids bed. You can also buy the pull-out separately to use with your own twin bed.
Math, mmm banana bread. I'm going to make one with walnuts. So glad tire was easy fix. (And relieved I don't need to start a Go Fund Me for you. I would, though, if you really needed it.)😊😂
Penguinsa, the ongoing saga of UK uni admissions is bordering on exciting! I'm eager for updates and enjoying learning about the process. Your park walk sounds lovely. 😊

Both dc are asleep. 😇😇
I've just had a salad of chopped veggies, croutons and Olive Garden salad dressing. 😋
Load of towels in the dryer.

Tilllly · 17/02/2024 22:58

@Penguinsa
The pain has lessened with the extra morphine but not quite gone

But Daisy helps 😍. Mr Monkey Man is bigger than her

MissConductUS · 17/02/2024 23:00

Nice to see you, Lemons. I hope your DS is in better spirits today.

Math, our local garage has fixed many tires for us. It's usually a nail or a screw that they pick up. We pay $30 for the repair, which is so much better than replacing the tire.

I booked the car service to take me to the airport on Wednesday and pick me up on Saturday. The forecast for Orlando is daytime highs around 22 C and sunny. 😁

Here's what the deck looked like when it stopped snowing. DH had to shovel the driveway again, but this was much less than Tuesday.

Awww, Tilly. Cute pic. Thinking about you. 🥰

Penguinsa · 17/02/2024 23:50

That's a very cute pic Tilllly Glad Daisy and Monkey Man help 😎

Banana bread with walnuts sounds great Havoc

That will be quite the change in weather there MissC Its quite mild here in temp but getting rainy. Not sure if we will get our walk tomorrow, says heavy rain and moderate breeze.

DH just found DS in the kitchen looking sheepish making himself a hot chocolate.

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 18/02/2024 01:18

That's a more ordinary level of snow MissC, enough for a snowman but not enough to get snowed in.

She's so adoraby Tilllly.

And today I learn that I can freeze bananas, thanks Math.

I've deep cleaned the bathroom following some DIY work. I now have black bogies because I was stupid and didn't wear a mask.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/02/2024 02:13

Oh my god Mallards! What were you using to clean with? 😷🙀

Tilllly · 18/02/2024 05:26

Frozen banana? Explain...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/02/2024 05:40

Tilly, you can put your over-ripe bananas in the freezer to save for a day you want to make banana bread. I thaw them in a colander in the sink to drain. Peel before freezing in freezer bags.

Made a walnut banana bread! Added 1 cup of crushed walnuts and 2/3c of semi-sweet choc chips. 😋😋😋
Having a piece now, still warm, with butter...

Looks lovely Havoc

Watching One Day, should be sleeping.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/02/2024 05:51

Penguinsa, c'mon over for a slice since you're up anyway! 😊

  • I'm watching a CNN *doc about Navalny. Watched it when it originally aired, but is being shown again in light of what has now happened.
Penguinsa · 18/02/2024 06:01

Sounds great Havoc will be round in a jiffy. 😻

Am so doing that!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/02/2024 06:17

Report back, Tilly.
Shall I put the kettle on Penguinsa? Or just make* *lattes?
Tilly, you may as well join us since you're up, too! 😁

Penguinsa · 18/02/2024 06:25

Love both. Floof prefers I have tea as its T for me and T for him (Tuna) He's currently trilling away here, been showing off his tail bouncing the end and stretching out showing his tummy and his paws curled up small. Now on the pink chair.
