I remember Jonathan Creek Why!

Hope the itching stops soon Tilllly.

Are you boiling your eggs MissC? It's faster to poach them. Bowl of water, crack in an egg, microwave it for 1min30sec full power. Or if you want to time it so the egg is ready for when your toaster has pinged and toast been buttered, 6min on half power. Just don't mix up the two sets of instructions, it results in an unholy mess of epic proportions that will make you want to go back to bed and cry.

Deathraystare · 02/02/2024 21:16

Oh dear! I left work and felt very very hungry so decided to go to Maccy D for some fries. Of çourse I couldn't get any of those things you press and order stuff from to work. I decided not to go to the counter as it appears to confuse them if you haven't already ordered. So I thought sod that and tried my luck at KFC. Of course I could not get the touch screen (that is what it is!!) To work so went to the counter. I complained about the touch screen and dsaid can I order fries. I explained my eyes were really bad abd I could not see but just wanted a bag of fries. He seemed not to understand (fries must be a rare order!!). He just did not seem to understand. Ok English probably wasn't his first language. He couldn't seem to find the description or something, I dunno.

I gave up And went to my local chippy. At least there was no bloody touch screen!!

Happy now I am fed and watching paranormal stuff!
What a grump, eh??

Glad you got your chips in the end Death but that was hard work.

Sorry you have itching Tilllly maybe give the chemo line a call. I know I had piriton to try and stop allergic reactions. Though its normally the first few chemos there's an issue if there is one. Hope you enjoyed the Cotswolds.

DD has a third university offer in - came in at normal offer and she phoned them and asked why not contextual and they revised offer down so that's good. She only applied there a few days ago for the insurance one.

Had a Chinese takeaway, chinese roast pork and mixed veg and then a hot cross bun. Done some hoovering. Feeling slightly meh so missed swimming.

HelenaJustina · 02/02/2024 21:37

I’ve had a shit day. I’m not a swearer or normally a complainer but today can just do one. Work was manic which was to be expected but DC1 had school stuff which needed phone calls and DC3 has started a vomiting bug, and I was doing PTA event after work.

HelenaJustina · 02/02/2024 21:38

@Tilllly where were your steps?!

Penguinsa · 02/02/2024 21:53

Hope DC3 is better soon Helena and rest of you escape.

sproutsandparsnips · 02/02/2024 23:07

Oh dear Helena I echo Penguinsa in hoping DC3 better soon and you all avoid it.
DS2 has yet another cold, being a teensy bit dramatic but I get his frustration though he has eaten 12 smoked salmon blinis and is playing on Xbox currently.........
I went to the tip today. DS2 came too and had to educate me as he has been more often!

Tilllly · 03/02/2024 02:38

HelenaJustina · 02/02/2024 21:38

@Tilllly where were your steps?!

Mainly in Gloucester but we went to a national trust first, Woodchester park... not quite as flat as it implied! But nice tea room and lots of dogs

Called at Ross on wye too but not as nice as expected

@Penguinsa itching started a couple of days before 4th chemo but just on soles of my feet. Has woken me up now, like last night, all up my legs. Will ring them next week- am hoping it's unrelated as it went off during day yesterday- unless that's cos I was walking around

Tilllly · 03/02/2024 02:39

@Deathraystare
I HATE things like that, you just want something simple and it gets you in a big strop
No woman should have to wait when in need of chips

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/02/2024 06:02

Sprouts, Helena. Hope dc feel better soon. 🩷
Tilly, that's a lot of steps! 👏
Death, BK fries are better than Mickey D's, but Costco food court fries are the superior fast food fries. They are crispy and always perfectly seasoned. I discovered them a few months ago. I was pregnant and had a sudden hunger attack. 😹
Helena, sorry for your shit day. This is for you:

Thank you @Mumtobabyhavoc delicious!

mathanxiety · 04/02/2024 07:21

Spent the day cleaning, polishing, hoovering, and mopping. After dinner, I sat down to watch Netflix, only to find it wouldn't load on my phone, and since the email associated with the account is one set up by DD1 about 20 years ago, there was no hope of retrieving the pin they could have sent me to get the problem sorted out. So I uninstalled the app and canceled the account, then set up a new one using my current email and reinstalled the app. I watched Apollo 13 and went to bed. As I fell off to sleep, I heard an almighty crash in the dining room and got up to investigate - it was Dcat tipping stuff off the sideboard, luckily nothing breakable, just candles and candlesticks. She purred when she saw me. I did not purr back. Since I was up, I folded some laundry. Now heading back to bed.

Glad you've been discharged, "Havoc*, and hope none of you will catch any more horrible illnesses.

Tilllly · 04/02/2024 09:06

I did not purr back
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sorry, shouldn't laugh

MissConductUS · 04/02/2024 11:20

Helena, sorry you had such a rubbish day.

Math, one of our cats has form for knocking things off the kitchen counter. It's her way of letting us know that her food is late and she won't stand for it.

DD rang DH yesterday because she couldn't get her car started, presumably due to the cold. She was able to get the campus security people to jump start the car for her and she drove it around for a while. We put a new battery in it about a year ago, so it shouldn't have gone bad that quickly. There's a garage not far from campus, so we've told her to take it there tomorrow to have the battery tested and replaced if needed. We'll have a zoom call with her tonight.

@Tilllly

Thanks. I sometimes wonder if I get stroppy over very small things, but it is the small things that annoy isn't it?

@Mumtobabyhavoc

Where is my slice? (Pouts). Looks very nice.

Tilllly · 04/02/2024 12:29

It is @Deathraystare
Lots of tiny things are pushing me over the edge today

My DH has a look of abject fear about him 🤣

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/02/2024 13:29

Death, I'm sorry! How thoughtless of me! 😲

Tilllly · 04/02/2024 15:48

@Deathraystare

I've sorted slices all round

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/02/2024 20:25

Thanks, Tilly! 😋

Tilllly · 04/02/2024 21:04

And chips

Just in case

MissConductUS · 04/02/2024 21:54

Cake would be nice right now, but there's none in the house, which is probably just as well.

We just had our weekly Zoom call with DD. Her car started okay this afternoon, but she's going to get the battery checked tomorrow anyway. The bloke who jumpstarted it said that he saw a mouse come out of the air filter when the engine turned over, so she'll get it checked for mouse damage or infestations too.

She'll be home next weekend. Her fiancee's uni winter formal dance is next Saturday, and she may come home Thursday or Friday. Friday night they're going into NYC to do touristy things and come back Saturday afternoon. Her fiancee received his first graduate school acceptance letter for a uni in Boston, so that's great news.

It's been sunny today, so we're doing burgers on the grill, coleslaw and seasoned tater tots for dinner. We recently discover these, and they're delicious.

A mouse?!! 🐁

MissConductUS · 04/02/2024 22:27

Yes, it’s not unusual for them to seek shelter in cars during the winter.

Cake and chips... @Tilllly sounds like the perfect combination to me!

Penguinsa · 05/02/2024 02:54

Tilllly Hope your team can help. I wonder if its some strange neuropathy thing then - are you on Pax, that is known for neuropathy. Let them know and they can adjust dose.

Been feeling a bit virusy past few days and not sleeping but managed swimming again today and did 100 lengths and jacuzzi and coffee with DH. DD has another university offer in and mocks next week. She did her river job on Saturday and was with her boyfriend today. DS in the meantime seems to have had a chocolate floor party whilst we were swimming, looks like a toddler was on the loose.
