Have got a pot of soup on the stove: chicken broth from freezer, potatoes, white beans, zucchini, spinach and onion. Going to top with croutons and cheese. 😛
Watching new episode of AGT.
Will have to check baby seat and Havoc's car seat after dinner. Not convinced I tightened them properly when I installed infant seat and moved Havoc's seat on the weekend.

Bizzey, Havoc is doing fairly well with baby overall. Has covered baby with blanket when baby was crying which was quite sweet; and said Bless you 'baby' when baby sneezes. 😍
>not liking the sound of that damp you mentioned. I hope it is easily remedied. 🤞
Glad it has warmed up for you.

Miss, I hope you will do something nice for yourself on you actual b-day this week. 🥰

Penguinsa, hang in there. 🩷

Prok , keeping you in my thoughts. 🩷

Loads to catch up on! Soups sound very good, havoc. Hope all those ill are recovering/recovered - we had covid and flu over christmas so can empathise.

Away for work again, but managed to plan my road trip stop to call in at Tebay which had a really tasty brussel sprout salad that I'd like to recreate. Staying with a friend and made us all a gnocchi/halloumi bake last night- she's making mac and cheese tonight which I'm already looking forward to.

Walking past the shopping centre earlier and noticed dickies trousers in the window, alongside baggy 'skater' jeans- the 90s seems to be fully back in fashion. Feels weird, as I was a kid in the 90s and wore some of those things, which makes me feel old. I suspect how my parents felt when flares came back and then 80s neon!

Penguinsa · 23/01/2024 17:12

Sorry it was so much longer on public transport Tilllly Hope you had a nice time with your friend.

Thanks Helena and Havoc We had great support from school with DS in old area, but then we moved areas in 2018 and been dire in new area.

DD has been at school and is finally sorting the rest of her ucas application, fourth uni applied for and third one who had made offer she has asked for course change as they have made same offer as her first choice. She has a fifth university in mind but awaiting replies and may not need final choice.

Car went for mot and one thing needed repair but now done which means can go swimming tonight. Thought before might need to be moved to tomorrow which seems to be pensioners night who swim in twos at the world's slowest speed and then all go in jacuzzi for an hour. So happy going tonight. DD has requested a McDonalds afterwards.

Ordered a new microwave and kettle as old ones are worn out. Should get on Saturday and also have the dentist that day. Cat is next to me. He whined when DH went to take car for MOT, though tail complements stopped that. 😎

Lemonsandlemonade · 23/01/2024 17:52

Havoc your dinner as ever sounds lovely.

Tonight we are having stir fry for dinner. DS loves noodles and bean sprouts.

DS had a bang to the head in pre school. He has a lovely bruise and will not take his hat of as he says head hurts.

bizzey · 24/01/2024 00:01

Hello all..
All these dinners sound amazing ..

Boiler check has been done and water tank in loft fixed 🤞.
It needed a new valve ..or something!

@Penguinsa ...funny you should mention needing a new microwave,..

Snap 🤣.

I only really use mine for re-heating or microwave dinners /easy meals sort of thing but today's quick easy fish pie for late lunch was definitely not heating up as it should !

Brain is frazzled looking at them all 🤣🤣.

Don't know wether to try one that has a grill function on or not .

That would be about as complicated as I could go with a new one .

Everything that I took out of the long boiler cupboard is...still out !🤣

It's annoying, but not to much of a hindrance at the moment .

I am determined to reorganise and put the stuff back sensibly.

Mind you ...it will still end up as a dumping ground by December.

Unfortunately, a lot of shelf space is taken up with ds's medical stuff.
So , not a lot I can do really in getting rid of stuff to make space .

@Tilllly ...thanks for the links !
They are in my basket .

@Lemonsandlemonade ..hope your ds is okay.

Penguinsa · 24/01/2024 00:17

Hope your DS is better soon Lemons

Bizzey My head also got frazzled looking at microwaves especially with so much choice and DH had a requirement of trying to colour co-ordinate and DD had colour suggestions and must be 800 watt or 900 watt and no-one would agree. So I found one and DH gave in and also bought kettle at same time so that will match. It does have a grill but never had a grill one before, the one we have is some super cheap pale blue one DH got from a supermarket because he liked the colour and it was cheap.

Went swimming and did 103 lengths and the steam room. Then we got a McDonalds on the way back, DD has the Mcplant meal, DS the quarterpounder meal. I had a quarterpounder burger and an apple pie and had a lovely salted caramel milk hot chocolate from the F&M hot chocs for Christmas.

bizzey · 24/01/2024 01:15

@Penguinsa

(Sorry for the tag ! Went to check spelling and pressed wrong button! and can't clear it 😅..!

Let me know how you get on with the grill function!
Funny you should mention colour as well...my kitchen stuff is red and I did see a red one ..but couldn't really justify the price when it is kept inside a " microwave cupboard thing "

IE , it is a slide up door thing and microwave is behind it .

I do agree with your DD though about the 800/900 wattage .

Everything is timed for that and I am sick of trying to guesstimate how much extra time I need for my 700 W.

Ohhh ...and where did you get it from and how much ? ! 😅.

The one I am toying with is in Currys £89.99.

Which is way of my budget really .

Penguinsa · 24/01/2024 01:54

We are getting this one https://www.panasonic.com/uk/consumer/home-appliances/microwaves/microwave-with-grill/nn-gd37hsbpq.html from a local electrical retailer, will collect it on Saturday. It was £190 but DH paid for it 😂and the kettle so free for me. I did tell him he qualified for an OAP discount there as they start it sillily early but he refused to use it. I am not really sure how good it will be just got fed up of looking and DH got fed up of me asking which one and we are also restricted on size a bit. Ours will be on the countertop and I mainly got it as it's stainless steel. Though I will be interested to see if can do toast in it as toaster is dying.

Microwave Oven And Grill | NN-GD37HSBPQ | Panasonic UK & Ireland

This versatile Panasonic microwave oven has an intergrated grill function with all the benefits of a conventional microwave for greater variety in cooking.

mathanxiety · 24/01/2024 02:45

Havoc - around here the local firefighters and police will do a check of your baby and toddler seat installation for free if you call and arrange a time. Would your local firefighters do the same? It definitely set my mind at rest when faced with new cars and tethering systems.

We had a day of freezing rain, I nearly came a cropper when I parked at work and stepped out onto a sheet of ice but skated in place for a few seconds while holding onto the car door.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/01/2024 03:33

Math, yes, similar is done here. The police or RCMP (depending on the area you live) hold clinics and I've emailed asking about next one. I've also watched a few more videos and re-read my car's and the seat's manuals. I've done it right, but it just feels flimsy. 🤷‍♀️
Thanks for mentioning the check.
>"I nearly came a cropper" is a new one for me! So glad you didn't do a header. (Heard that one?)😉

Thanks, Lemons. Hearty soup seems to be what my body needs right now. It's been very comforting. 🥰

Bizzey, glad it was an easy repair!

Tonight's version in pic below. Added a roast chicken thigh.
Feeling well-nourished! 😛

Tilllly · 24/01/2024 07:09

Looks good Havoc

bizzey · 24/01/2024 20:05

Hello all ..

I have had a day that has really taxed any little brain cells of sensible planning that I ever possessed 🤣🤣!

I have 4 big jobs to do in the house..

But in order to complete job 1 ..I have to do job 2...

I can't complete job 2 because job 3 is hindering me ..

Job 3 can be completed when I do job 4 ....

So I did what any sensible person does in these situations....

I sat down with a cuppa and some chocolate chip cookies 🤣🤣...and had a re think !

I am half way through job 2 ...
The airing cupboard 🥴🥴...

How the hell have I ended up with 25+ ( I stopped counting at that point 😅) spare pillowcases !!!

As for the duvet covers and fitted sheets 🤣🤣...

Well they are all bagged up now for the animal rescue centre...

Some are even beautifully ironed and folded .....they are definitely the ones my mam gave me some years ago 🤣.

2 of my boys were prone to nose bleeds during the nights so it was always handy to have extra pillow cases ...and the obvious sickness bugs and stuff......bit I think I have been over prepared 🤣.

I am vacuum packing some stuff for ds to have if he ever leaves home .

An example of how much of a hoarder I am and unable to throw things out ....

Still in the towel pile is ds1 baby towel ...the one with the little hood part !

In fact I have all their baby towels ...and toddler towels 🤣🤣...

I will vacuum them !

3 people live in this house ....I have enough bedding and towels to open a B&B 🤣

gocompare · 24/01/2024 20:24

I have lost a grey pillow case. The post before mine made me laugh and it is why I posted.

I had a nice day in the office today. I usually work from home but the office is lovely and I enjoy being there when I go. It's a big corporate company but the people in the office I go are all local and have known each other outside of work as it's a small town, so it has a lovely family vibe even though it it's not a family business.

Penguinsa · 24/01/2024 20:36

That looks lovely Havoc

We are having paella for dinner.

The company we have the microwave and kettle phoned to say they were there and DH immediately stopped work and went to get them. I was expecting him to get them on Saturday. Not sure when we will set them up. The kettle is the same as we have now in a different colour and old one has come back to life so will leave that for later.

Cat has been very snuggly all day on my pillow and on my bed. Have my candle lit but have to be careful as cat has become obsessed with it.

bizzey · 24/01/2024 20:49

@gocompare ...I bet it has somehow made it into my airing cupboard 🤣🤣😅!

I have a few spare here if you are desperate...I can cater for all colour schemes by the look of my pile !!!

bizzey · 24/01/2024 20:50

Penguinsa ...yayy !

Lots of experiments with the new microwave over the weekend 🤣

halfpasteleven · 24/01/2024 21:07

DD is much better thanks to everyone who passed on good wishes.
I have it now!! Oh well- am trying to fight it with OTC medicines so here's hoping!

It is a hard cough to shake for sure.

Soup looks delicious and nourishing Havoc.. hope Both baby and havoc are doing well.
The colours sound lovely Penguinsa
- I hope ye have many nice meals and cuppas from the new microwave and kettle!

I have loads of pillowcases too Bizzey, but maybe not 25! At least the animal shelter will be delighted with such choice!

Hot water bottles at the ready now - I'm going to add an early night to the list of ways to fight this cough!

IWanderedLonely · 24/01/2024 22:26

Continuing the bedding theme, I stripped the bed this morning and washed it and bunged in the tumble dryer this afternoon (prefer not to use it but DS produced a huge laundry hamper yesterday Hmm). Then I forgot about it. We have 1 teddyfleece sheet which DH and I loves. I planned on putting it back on the bed this evening but had to take minutes at a church meeting which I'd forgotten about.
DH went to bed and was very unhappy to discover an unmade bed. Oops.

bizzey · 24/01/2024 22:45

Well ..I am haf way through all 4 individual jobs !

But I am feeling like I am progressing...even if it is a roundabout way !

I forgot to tell you all some other news..

I finally caved and let ds3 set up a dart board in a safe area . ,🥴😲🤩🤣😅..

(For those who don't know ..ds has SEN and doesn't socialise as much as others his age )

Well ...we have had a blast with this darts board..

DS keeps telling me what numbers to aim for ..and a triple or double and stuff...
I just keep looking at him and saying ...
I will be happy with just the board my love 🤣😅!

Working DS came home early the other night and joined in with us on a game !

Quite a good impromptu family bonding experience!

Good for ds for quick arithmetics ..
(He did the scores )

Apparently I throw a dart as if I am throwing a javelin 🤣🤣 !

bizzey · 24/01/2024 22:47

Now when he goes to the pub with his brothers ..he can smash them at darts 😅

MissConductUS · 25/01/2024 15:12

Hi all, I see the thread has gone quiet for a day.

I'm off work today and tomorrow, still trying to use up my annual leave from last year.

We got the proofs for the wedding invitations and they look lovely. We're including a card with all of the logistical information. I'm waiting for DD to proof read them, then we'll pay the deposit and order them.

We have a very old Hotpoint fridge in the garage that's keeping things too cold even on the lowest temperature setting, so DH has just ordered a replacement. GE makes "garage ready" fridges that work in an unheated space, so we're getting one of those. The Hotpoint was a bit basic and grungy, so I'm not sad about replacing it. We bought it in 2003 when we moved into this house, so we got our money's worth.

It's warmed up and we've had some rain, so most of the snow has melted, but there is still a lot of ice on the Hudson River. I took this picture while I was stopped in traffic on my way to work on Tuesday.

Ah the joys of public transport Tilllly, takes ages to get anywhere and you have the delight of being surrounded by other people. I missed what's happened to your car but hope you get it back soon.

Hope you haven't developed a damp problem Bizzey.

That is a beautiful pic of the river MissC. Nice to see the wedding plans are progressing well.

Fingers crossed for you shaking off the cold Half.

mathanxiety · 25/01/2024 20:53

That's a chilly looking river scene, MissC. I hope you'll catch any typos in the invitations and maps. I tend to find typos when it's too late.

I felt like gooey carbohydrates for dinner yesterday so made mac 'n cheese (real, not Kraft, which I have never tasted). I used whole wheat macaroni, so I feel a little more virtuous about it than I should normally would.

We're having a gray day again, with dense fog caused by warmer, moist air over the rapidly receding snow on the ground.

I have the afternoon off and I'm busy putting together some bags for donation and rearranging drawers and clothes storage. I'm looking forward to being able to find my clothes more easily from now on.

MissConductUS · 25/01/2024 22:11

I did find a typo, Math, and it was a big one. The date was correct, but the day of the week was wrong. It said Friday when the wedding is on a Saturday.

That would have caused a lot of confusion.
