NC here. Lovely London photos Bizzey

Just a meeting for DS and swimming here, 98 lengths and jacuzzi and steam room and then a quarter pounder and apple pie.

bizzey · 17/01/2024 03:10

@Penguinsa 🤔🤔🕵️‍♀️🕵️‍♀️??
Hi ! 🤣

bizzey · 17/01/2024 03:11

Hope all is okay with the NC ?

Penguinsa · 17/01/2024 03:37

Its fine, just made the mistake of venturing into other parts of MN, now incognito. 😂

halfpasteleven · 17/01/2024 04:41

London looks so well in your photos @bizzey - i hope the appointment went well for your DS.

It's cold here too (-4 right now) and I can hear my own DS coughing- another one who hates wearing a coat!

Hope the appointment went well @Penguinsa and that Floof is enjoying the Christmas trees..

Really lovely wedding venues @Tilllly and @MissConductUS, hope the planing continues to go smoothly.

I am off tomorrow ( later today) and I think I will do a chicken casserole, with mash potato.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/01/2024 06:05

You'll always be Silkie to me Penguin. 😁
Gorgeous pics Bizzey. I bet tourists really go for that giant clock. Maybe give it a name or something? 🙃

Forecast, for those keeping track, is for up to 20cm of snow by tomorrow. It's -1c and not snowing yet, so I popped out to Costco for a few things before closing and it was quite busy. I guess everyone had the same idea thinking just in case the roads are too bad for the next day or two.

Deathraystare · 17/01/2024 07:12

Those pictures are lovely @bizzey . I don't go there too much but recognise the buildings.

@Penguinsa
It is a vipers nest there on the rest of Mumsnet!!

Tilllly · 17/01/2024 07:34

Finding a cheesecake must surely have been the day's highlight @bizzey 😁

HildaTablet · 17/01/2024 09:11

We were in London yesterday too bizzey! Just up the road from you, at the National Gallery. Wasn’t it a lovely day? Freezing cold, though - the fountains in Trafalgar Square were full of floating ice and there were still plenty of icicles.

Why did I think cleaning inside my car was a good idea?

Am slumped on sofa now

HelenaJustina · 17/01/2024 13:35

Tillly mine desperately needs doing as well once you’ve gathered yourself!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/01/2024 19:36

Add my car to the list to be cleaned... ugh.

It's been snowing since last night. Schools are closed. Looks like about 6" of snow on the balcony railing. Going to bundle up and take Havoc out to play in it for a bit, but only if Havoc will wear gloves...

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 17/01/2024 20:03

Thanks for the pics Bizzey and Hilda**. I love London 💕 it's the most magical city. The icicles onghe fountain make the sculpture of sea creatures look more authentic, like water is flowing off them. Loved all the colored lights on buildings and bridges too.

Hope your car is going to be ok with this cold spell Math.

Penguinsa I feel the same. It's all a bit disappointing. Still, this little corner is nice though.

Hope you got the gloves on and are busy building a snowman or something Havoc.

MissConductUS · 17/01/2024 20:36

Lovely pictures of London. I'd love to go someday. Dh loved his time there.

Math, we hit 14F this morning (-10C) so there's ice on the reservoir.

Havoc, we had four inches of snow yesterday, then freezing rain which left a coating of ice on the snow. There's more snow in the forecast for Friday. Mid-January is usually the coldest part of the winter, at least where I am. The cats want to patrol on the deck, then get indignant if we let them out and they see how cold it it.

Lovely pictures of London.

I love visiting London.

It's been -10 in parts of Uk too MissC.

Had a lovely session in work today teaching a load of 6 year olds how to make a fire. ( Am Forest School trained)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/01/2024 03:30

Miss, I've seen the news about the winter conditions and storms back east. It sounds like you've been mostly lucky. 🤞Sure is cold, though! 🥶

Havoc let me put gloves on to go outside today! 👏 We played in the snow, I showed Havoc how to make a snowball, and we went for a bit of a walk.
While we were out walking we saw a man with a white cane who seemed lost - he was completely turned around and a few blocks from where he wanted to go. I was quite worried about him and we walked a block with him in the right direction. I couldn't go further because of the snow and Havoc can only walk so far in it. I hope the man ended up safely at his destination. My biggest fear was him walking into traffic or falling.----

bizzey · 18/01/2024 11:30

Another cold day here , but with beautiful blue sky and sunshine.

No frost though ..which I think is good for the pipes ?

I have solved the mystery of why I thought I had a lemon torte in the freezer instead of the cheesecake I found.....

Wellll ...I have both 🤣🤣🤣!

Now....which one to eat first 🤣🤣!

MissConductUS · 18/01/2024 21:03

Bizzey, now I want a lemon tort! It's been cold here too. The reservoir is starting to freeze over. There are signs around it warning people not to walk on the ice, but those have been up for years and stay up year-round.

The dress I ordered for the wedding has come in. I'm going to go to the shop this weekend to try it on. There's more snow in the forecast for tomorrow, but I've booked a day of annual leave.

DS had an in-person job interview this morning. DH had to help him tie his necktie this morning.

Exciting Miss what colour are you going for?

mathanxiety · 18/01/2024 21:59

We warmed all the way up to just about freezing today. I was able to take the bin out as well as all the recycling because the lids of the wheelies were shaken open by the garbage collection crew yesterday. It feels quite balmy out, and since the bin went out, I was able to clear out the fridge - I'll be sending DD out with a newly filled bag when she goes out later.

Have you coordinated colours with the mother of the groom, or will she take her lead from you, MissC?

I hope the man you encountered managed to get where he needed to go, Havoc. It was a good thing for him that toddler Havoc agreed to put on his mittens.

bizzey · 18/01/2024 22:24

Havoc #1* * needs to put in mittens
bizzey #3 needs to out in a coat ...

It is definitely a neverending story !

😅😅!

HelenaJustina · 19/01/2024 08:38

At 7:25am this morning, I arrived at a meeting which starts at 9am. I was travelling with a colleague who had to be here at 8am for another meeting and they really didn’t want to be late. We left our rendezvous at 6am to get here! It’s going to be a long day…

sproutsandparsnips · 19/01/2024 08:42

Lovely pics Bizzey, Hilda and Miss.
It's been a long week this week as there has been a junior doctor strike so I have had to work extra hours to cover, glad it's Friday now.
My blackbird friend is back (though obviously can't be sure he's the same one as last year). Not seen Mrs blackbird yet though.

Oh dear oh dear. I have again come on to whine! Kick me off if it gets too exciting (it won't)..

Went to Kingston today. No not the one in Jamaica, my oyster card will not go that far!!

I was already thinking of the phrase 'broke Britain' before I got on the first bus. Escalators not working, lifts out of order, arms not working, buses not doing the full route, roads uo, cones everywhere etc etc.

Anyway I got to Kingston and tried to get a drink inc4 coffee shops. Most were small and only had a few seats, one only took cards and in two, it was not clear on the queueing system. I found myself in the pick up line and then they did not take cash. Went to a Costa and found myself again in the wrong queue. Did not like their flat white either. Looked shite but then round my way I am spoilt by 3 Cafe Neros.

Decided to get something to eat. Could not find the usual place. I did fancy noodles but everywhere quite pricey or one of those places where you pick rice or noodles then have to choose a protein and about 4 other things. I just want to order quickly and eat!

I ended up in John Lewis and had a very mild but lovely Cambodian coconut and veggie curry with rice.

Satisfied now. I just hope their loos are in working order unlike the Marks ones on 1st floor of Westfield. Also the two ladies ones on ground floor, the one where you can close the door, there is no handle so you have to slip your foot under and pull it to you! It has been like that forever!!!! I also hate that they never put a hook on the door. That should be replaced. Who wants to put their coat on a damp floor?

I must write and complain!!

I know, I know, first world problems and all that, but is starting to piss me off big time.

Right off to investigate the loos...
