@Deathraystare

Yay!!!

mathanxiety · 15/01/2024 03:12

Very good news about your coat, Death.

We're having a spell of frigid weather here that will last until Wednesday, when it turns to plain old 'skin a brass monkey' weather. It's January, so not unexpected.

I went to a baptism today after Mass. One of the newly baptized put up a brave fight against the deacon when it came time to do the anointing, and afterwards was having none of it when it was time to don her snowsuit. A toddler sibling of another baby escaped his minder after Communion and spent the last ten minutes of Mass running laps around the altar Smile much to the amusement of the priest and congregation. One of my DDs was godmother to the youngest of the newly minted Christians, who didn't utter a peep.

Deathraystare · 15/01/2024 04:10

@Tilllly
Apologies, I had not read about your chemo. Hope you are feeling much better. One of our ex porters had regular doses

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/01/2024 06:12

Death, glad your jacket was found! I really had to laugh at you finding your tv remote in your purse though! It seems you and I share the same affliction: I traveled to Las Vegas with a chef's knife in the outside zipper pocket of my suitcase once. Found it while looking for something else when I was in the hotel room. Image what the security thought when my bag was scanned?! I guess since it wasn't carry-on they didn't care. 🤷‍♀️ I nearly died laughing though. (and I had it wrapped in a tea towel) 😭😭😭
Floof: glad you are back on track. 😁
Tilly & Miss: gorgeous venues.

Still need to take tree down. 🤷‍♀️😂
Warmed up to -5c today.
Havoc was a challenge today. Wouldn't wear gloves to go outside for play, so we stayed in. Caused quite a meltdown (I didn't feel great about sticking to my guns, either, but I wasn't kicking and screaming bloody murder on the floor about it...) 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 15/01/2024 09:19

Congratulations on DS upcoming wedding Tilllly. Loving the rustic ambience, so pretty with all those candles and lights too ✨

The perfect venue MissC, dreamy historical vibes 😍

So pleased your coat tuned up Death I hated thinking of you freezing and miserable on holiday. The remote control though...😝 At least you've found it!

The sun is out so my day will involve more laundry. sigh

whyyy321 · 15/01/2024 09:32

Glad you have found your coat death! That would've been a chilly journey home. Tilllly that's a beautiful venue! Havoc the knife story made me laugh, somehow that it was wrapped in a tea towel is even better.

Freezing here but the light is so beautiful at the moment- is there a reason why the light here (Scotland) looks (to me anyway) so different to the light in southern England?

Tilllly · 15/01/2024 12:30

Thank you, I can take no credit, they've dealt with it all. Well I say they, I mean she has. I think DS will just turn up 🤣

Tilllly · 15/01/2024 15:25

My youngest cat has been to the vet this morning, with a dodgy leg. I don't know what they've given him, but he's off his head.

Not so much, but he's not taking advantage of being on DS2's bed which he is not normally allowed to be

He is definitely milking this

I have no idea how I am supposed to keep him in till Friday was letting the other two go out

MissConductUS · 15/01/2024 16:17

Tillly, your son's wedding venue is lovely. Are they having the ceremony there as well? One of our cats has a bit of a dodgy leg, but she's older. The vet thinks her joints aren't what they used to be, and we're giving her a glucosamine supplement disguised as a cat treat.

My daughter's future husband is minimally involved as well. They do discuss the big decisions, and his mum seems pretty interested in helping. It's very nice of you to pay for the flowers.

It's cold here today, about -6C, and we're expecting 2-5 inches of snow tomorrow, so I may be working remotely.

Could it be light pollution Why? Less population density in Scotland I think.

Saw a Grebe on my walk today, didn't manage to get a pic though.

Deathraystare · 15/01/2024 22:48

@Mumtobabyhavoc

Oh that did make me laugh! I watch those sirport security programmes and, I am sorry to say you would have been so guilty in my eyes!!!!

MrsFloof · 15/01/2024 23:48

Love Abba Death sounds great.

Great venue Tilllly

Also need to take the trees down Havoc but still fine and full of needles. 🌲Floof loves them up.

DD has finally decided on all her university choices to apply to, just has to get the final two in before the deadline on 31st. She needs an insurance university to add to her firm one.

DH went to his piano lesson and we had a Thai takeaway - I had sweet and sour veg with sticky rice, DD had veg chow mein and DS and DH had veg spring rolls and red chicken curry. DD had messaged DH from school to say we are getting a Thai takeaway tonight aren't we?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/01/2024 03:50

We had an absolutely beautiful day with a gorgeous coral sky at sunset today. 😎🩷
Took Havoc to the Aquarium for a couple of hours then made salmon and roasted potatoes for dinner and had a few bites of the last piece of cake.

Another ditzy thing I did came to mind: I had roommates once and I noticed we kept getting mail for a "BJ Smith." So, I kept writing RTS on the various items and putting them back in the mail box. One day my roommate asked me wtf I was doing sending his mail back... I have no idea why I thought "BJ" was anyone else and not my roommate Bradley John... 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️😂😂😂

I swear I am not an idiot, really.

Thai sounds good, Floof. I hate taking the Christmas lights down! They're so bright and pretty. And we might get snow again tomorrow.
Death, the knife was from a girl's weekend where we all brought food and I had forgotten the to unpack the knife from my suitcase.

Has anyone else noticed the days starting to get longer/sunset later? 😁

MissConductUS · 16/01/2024 16:50

Havoc, I have noticed the days getting longer, and it's lovely. My drive home from work is no longer completely in the dark.

It is snowing today, so I'm working remotely. DH and DS are doing the same, so we're all home. DS has an in person job interview on Thursday, so DH has booked haircuts for them both tomorrow. DS didn't realize that he needed one.

I love Baptisms math ‘the Christian community welcomes you with great joy’ is such a nice way to start.

Both wedding venues look lovely, I do also love weddings. Haven’t been to one since pre-COVID, that was my DSis big Irish Catholic wedding with 180 people.

bizzey · 16/01/2024 22:30

Ohh what a day I have had today 😁😁!!

First off....I was taking some meat out of the freezer to defrost for tomorrow...and came across a...wait for it....

A New York Cheesecake that I had bought for Christmas and hadn't used 😅!

In fact...I had forgotten I had bought it ...I though had bought a lemon torte thing !

That was a nice surprise!

Saving it for the weekend though!

Then ds and I are about to leave the house for his hospital appointment ( never been to this hospital before) ..
I am all trussed up in my sleeping bag coat , gloves , scarf and thermals ( 0c here ....with a feel like -3c on the app ! ) ....

and ds is stood there , outside the door in his spring jacket 🥴😏!

We may ...or may not have had words !! 😅🤣🤣!!

I may have been a bit exasperated and cross...

I may have glared at him ...(🤣🤣🤣🤣!)

We lerd the house ...and D's was wearing his winter coat! ! 😅....
(Undone ... obviously! )

The start of our journey was in silence !!

(He zipped it up quite quickly though ...! )

1 stop before we were due to get off the tube (metro) 6 policemen were on the platform...

Ohh said ds ...wonder what that is all about...

They all got on the tube ...

DS turns me and says...." did you hide the drugs ? " ..!!! 🤣🤣🤣

At the end of the day ....I think D's was secretly pleased I had a little tantrum about him wearing his coat as London, by the Thames was very nippy this evening !

Some photos to follow !

This is an area of London I go to /have been to loads of times with the boys.....though to fair ....not on a very cold January evening ....!

I was still mesmerized by the beauty of it all .

The photos do not do it justice ...
but they may be e nice to see as opposed to photo shopped Google ones !

bizzey · 16/01/2024 22:41

Westminster Bridge which is painted green to represent the green coloured seats in the House of Commons...

And the other bad photo is Lambeth Bridge which was painted red to represent the red seats in the House of Lords .

We got out of the tube station...and I stupidly asked ds what the time was.!....

He said ..he didn't know ...and wasn't it silly they had no big clocks around for us to tell the time with 🤣🤣!!

He was in humour overdrive this evening!

The County Hall kept changing colours every few seconds !!

Don't think the other picture needs any explanation 😅!

Very dark steps up from the exit of the tube station.

My flash is making it brighter!!

My glasses were fogging up in my scarf ...and I needed to DS to hold my hand going up !!

I have just noticed something in my photos ....
What an amazing sky it was !!

bizzey · 17/01/2024 00:38

Completely unfiltered ( don't know how to 🤣 !)
On a cheap phone !

mathanxiety · 17/01/2024 02:45

Lovely London photos, bizzey. It does look nippy.

The bitter cold continues here, and it's very windy this evening too. My car coughs and splutters into life when I start it, then drives very sluggishly for the first fifteen minutes. The high will be 17F tomorrow, which is better than it has been for the last few days. Schools have been doing e-learning since the cold snap started, and there has been virtually no traffic on my street in the morning as a result.

I love baptisms too, Helena. Last weekend's was a very happy event, with a nice brunch afterwards too.
