Oh, Tilly. How awful. I was just wondering about you today. I hope the nasea passes quickly. 🩷

It's -10c and sunny here. 🥶😎
Had to go back to the cake shop, but took Havoc and we went to Science World for a bit afterward. Now just cuddling baby before heading out to Costco for a quick shop.

MrsFloof · 13/01/2024 00:12

Hope you are feeling bit better now Tilllly

Glad the wedding prep is going well MissC

Hope weather improves Havoc and you and the 2 mini Havocs are fine.

Quite a nice day today. Changed duvet to fleece one and Floof has been super cuddly on my pillow nose to nose with me. Went for a coffee with DH then swimming and did 100 lengths, steam room and jacuzzi. Came back, had a McDonalds, just quarterpounder and coke for me. Then put blinds up, quick bit of tidying pre one off clean tomorrow and lovely bath. DS took a bath whilst we were out.

Tilllly · 13/01/2024 02:46

Yeah, think it's passing now thanks

DS2 was disappointed, he was hoping for a nasty comment from a stranger so he could be full of self righteous indignation and get into an argument 🤣

We're going out for a walk and lunch today

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/01/2024 07:09

Awww, love your protective son, Tillly. 🩷
Glad to hear the nausea is easing and that you're up for goingnout to lunch. 👍😄

Uh, Floof, you slacking? Only 100 laps and a maccas? 🤭

Miss, sounds like things are humming along. It'll be interesting to see whether or not the in-laws come through for the flowers.

So, the cake was delicious. I decorated it with sprinkles, chocolates and jelly beans and was rather proud of myself with how it turned out. Took some pics of baby in cute outfit beside cake. Had a massive piece after. Havoc was excited to taste some "special cake" but fell asleep before it was even cut. 😂🤷‍♀️
Have been watching a doc this evening on the American buffalo (KCTS9/PBS station). I have seen something like this before - very interesting. Heading to bed as soon as baby is finished nursing. Exhausted. 🥱🥱🥱

Tilllly · 13/01/2024 07:44

I know @MissConductUS, ever met anyone as lazy as floof? 100 laps, barely worth getting in the pool!

whyyy321 · 13/01/2024 10:43

Ah tilllly, sorry the nausea kicked in but your son sounds like a lovely son wanting to look after you!

havoc cake sounds amazing, what a nice tradition. I'm always surprised by how massive buffalo are when I've seen them on documentaries- actually Moose (mooses?) too. Maybe they are more common up your way?

Was planning to take DS to a science museum type place round here this morning, but instead DH has taken him to the library and told me to have some alone time with a coffee, which is very welcome! So now I am watching an agatha christie with my instant coffee and having a look at beds on the john lewis website. We have a double currently but fancy a king size now we have a room big enough for one. We were going to wait until we redecorate the bedroom next year but DH made a good point about how our double is going to be the guest bed in our spare room, and we've got lots of guests over the next few months. So I suppose we will just HAVE to treat ourselves to a new bed, to save them the fate of sleeping on the air mattress....

MissConductUS · 13/01/2024 11:02

Tilly, what's the occasion you're buying flowers for? The nausea is almost certainly down to the chemo. If it's bad, your doctor can prescribe something to control it. I am indeed impressed with Floof's swimming determination. I have to kick myself to the exercises the Physio has given me for my shoulder.

Another bit of wedding-related news came in yesterday. The bridal shop in DD's university town rang her - the dress is here! We were hoping for March. She did pay a bit extra to have it shipped separately. Normally, the dressmakers ship a whole batch to the US, where they get reshipped to the shops that ordered them. I told her to verify that the shop had taken it out of the packaging and inspected it to ensure the size was correct, that there were no stains or crooked seams, etc. They had and found it all in order. When she gets back to uni at the end of the month, she'll go to the shop, pay the balance, and schedule her first fitting in March.

I'm so relieved. If anything was going to spoil the timeline for the wedding, it would have been the dress being late, lost, or defective in some way.

Havoc, I hope the groom's mum comes through with paying for the flowers too. We can pay for them if we have to, but it would be really awkward after she offered to pay for them. I guess the worst case is that she gets the estimate, thinks it's way too high, and tries to convince DD to cut way back on what she wants.

Tillly ....glad the nausea is passing.

Missc...how exciting that the wedding preparations are going quite well and on time schedule
( barring the big, in laws and flowers dilemma !)

I had a frantic phone call from mam earlier....

She had " one of them " phone calls by someone saying she had been hacked and she had to do the things he was going to talk her through , otherwise her phone, mobile and internet would be disconnected !!! 😡😡😡👿

She panicked got flustered and tried to do something he asked her to do ....but did it wrong ...

I think she said something like....
" Oh for god's sake "

He then told her not to take the Lord's name in vain 🤣🤣🤣!!!

She put the phone down and he rung her straight back !!

She told him he wasn't a very nice man !!

She hung up and phoned me ...

Poor thing was in a right state !

She said....bizzey ....I can't cope if they disconnect my phone...

I calmed her down and said it wasn't a real phonecall...etc ...

I have drummed into her never to give out details and just hang up but she got into a panic.

Makes me so cross that these " people " do this .

He was a very well spoken gentleman which completely through her.

bizzey · 13/01/2024 16:10

Threw her !

mathanxiety · 13/01/2024 17:29

bizzey your poor mum!
Same sort of thing happened to mine. Well spoken woman, wanted to double check mum's bank account number [grrrrrrr]. If my sister hadn't called mum's mobile while the scammer was on the landlines and if mum hadn't said, "I can't talk love, I'm looking for my chequebook because a woman needs to double check my account number", she would probably have been fleeced. Mum was very loath to just hang up (it's rude, and surely a criminal wouldn't have a nice accent?) but Dsis took a very deep breath and talked her around. After that, Dsis was able to set up online banking with complete access / notifications for herself (mum isn't online at all).

Deathraystare · 13/01/2024 17:48

Gosh and darn it!!!

Arrived in the Isle of Whght yesterday. Got up gesterday and agrees to accompany 2 of my friends on a walk. Could not find my coat in my room. Asked at reception. Asked the holiday to check with coach driver but not heard back yet!!

If it is not found I will have a miserable time in the cold and possibly rain on Tuesday going back to London!!!

Oh well.......

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/01/2024 19:57

Hopefully not, Miss! That would be infuriating.
Death, hoping your coat turns up. I once lost a gorgeous pair of leather gloves at a taxi stand in Las Vegas that I had just rec'd for Christmas. It's so frustrating. Hoping you can buy a suitable replacement while on vacay so you're comfortable.
Math & Bizzey, seniors are so easily scammed. It's frustrating. Glad your mums weren't! About a year ago I was getting fed up with the scam calls I was getting to my mobile and was inspired by a YouTube video about turning the tables. So, I answered one. It was a very pleasant man asking about my bit coin acct and advising me I was due to make a transfer and withdraw funds. I told him my husband just did that a few days ago and that the last time I dealt with the acct I also made a withdrawal and overseas transfer to a tax acct. I asked if he could look into it to make sure it was done and call me back. He said he would talk with his supervisor and get back to me. I then blocked the number. Several more calls came in succession and I just kept blocking them with quite a bit of satisfaction. 😝 Mwa haa haa! Take that, Scammers!
(not that I've made a difference, mind you... but, at least I jerked one chain!)

bizzey · 13/01/2024 20:54

math ...mam doesnt do anything on line ...
I do all her banking and shopping and bill companies and stuff.

She only uses the internet to keep up with family gossip on Facebook!!

She was in a real panic once when she got the phone call saying there was fraudulent activity on her Amazon account!

Took me ages to explain to her that she didn't actually have an Amazon account 🤣!

Amazon deliveries are things I have bought for her from my account and delivered to her !!

Havoc...yes , if I am in the mood I like to have fun with the scammers as well !

I was getting loads of phone calls saying that they were aware I had been involved in an accident ...bla bla...

I said ...ohhh yes I was !!

But to fair I do think it was an oversight on my behalf as usually I am fine with driving after drinking 2 bottles of wine ....but that night I was silly ....and really shouldn't have had the 3rd bottle ....and the whiskey chaser......

They hung up pretty quick 🤣🤣🤣!

Death....hope you can buy a cheep replacement to make do for now .

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 14/01/2024 14:54

Bizzey 🤣

Very dull day here catching up on laundry, a bit of cleaning and some decluttering.

bizzey · 14/01/2024 16:49

My boring news today ...

Last week I bought a coat on line ..

Reason why ...was because I realised that the mid length jacket I have had for 14 years ....is not actually very warm any more !!

It was a cheap thing I bought from Asda (Walmart?type of thing ) when the boys were in primary school.

I had a hospital appointment with D's a few months ago and realised...it did not keep me warm ..( I learnt it the hard way ! )

All the lining inside had disappeared...and I had no warmth coming from this coat I always thought was my winter coat/jacket.

Anyhow....I had to go upto mam's today to sort out her Alexa and I wore it...

She has a full length mirror in her hallway...

Wellll....I look like a little cub scout still stuck inside their sleeping bag ...cocooned in all snug ...with a space for legs to walk. 🤣🤣🤣🤣...

But ...I was warm !

Luckily , I am so not a follower of fashion ..
.
Big appointment for ds next week
and I am not looking forward to traipsing across London with my legs being cold !

Snow was forecasted..now it has disappeared......bit will still be on the very nippy side of thing !

Tilllly · 14/01/2024 17:08

@MissConductUS
My son gets married in 6 weeks

I have anti emetics, but sometimes the nausea and / or pain is just vicious. And both the anti sickness and the morphine cause a painful constipatio

Bed day today but am perking up

Tilllly · 14/01/2024 17:09

@Deathraystare
Argh!
Can you buy a hoodie or something?

bizzey · 14/01/2024 17:29

Ohh @Tilllly ...a wedding for you as well !
How exciting!

Tilllly · 14/01/2024 17:49

How exciting!

Assuming I fit into my expensive frock!

HelenaJustina · 14/01/2024 19:38

Busy day yesterday ferrying DC to part-time jobs, swimming, dance and football but finished the day by going to evening Mass altogether which was lush.
This meant a lie-in this morning for everyone. I have since hoovered the whole house, made lunch, cleaned the kitchen and cleaned the inside of all the windows. DC had cinema trips, dog walks, gymnastics and more swimming. But it’s still felt like a very lazy day!

bizzey · 14/01/2024 19:49

Flippin heck Helena ..you "lazy" day would have me laying down in a dark room for a week 🤣🤣🤣!

MissConductUS · 14/01/2024 22:27

@Tilllly, that's lovely news. Congratulations on your son's upcoming wedding. Are you also responsible for the rehearsal dinner? I'm not sure what's customary in the UK for the groom's family to take care of. I'm sorry about the nausea, it can be awful. How many treatments do you have left at this point? Hopefully, they can give you a break for the wedding.

Helena, I am with Bizzey. Your maternal energy is inspiring.

One bit of wedding news. The groom's parents have gotten some help from our wedding planner organizing the rehearsal dinner. It's going to be a the same venue as the reception, the converted Abbey overlooking the Hudson. I'm thrilled as the food will be aces and it's really close to where we live, so a short drive there and back for us. Here are a few pictures for those who missed it on the last thread. I don't know what room they've booked for the dinner. The room with the tables set up was the chapel sanctuary, and that's where the reception dinner will be. They were getting ready for a wedding when we toured there.

Havoc Glad the cake was delicious.

Tillly Hope you start feeling better. Great news about your son's wedding.

Death Enjoy Isle of Wight

MissC Glad wedding plans are coming along.

I have just been swimming and put a bit more effort in this time and got to 118 lengths and no McDonalds but we did have a Sunday roast and galette. So tired am half asleep now.😂

Deathraystare · 14/01/2024 23:37

@bizzey @Mumtobabyhavoc @Tilllly

My coat has been found! I reckon the coach driver found it. One of my travel mates asked reception. I had asked the day before but said it was black. It was actually dark teal!!

I was rummaging in my purse for tip money for the room cleaner and found the remote control for the TV (still on holiday by the way). I had been looking for that!!!

I guess my brain is holidaying somewhere else. If found.....

A shirt stay but a fun holiday in a Warners resort with plenty of things to do. Now relaxing after watching ABBA Magic who were great!

Tilllly · 15/01/2024 02:51

@MissConductUS
Treatments aren't finalised yet and I could be having immuno for months so don't know. Had 3 lots of chemo / immuno and will be noumber 5 on the Wednesday before the wedding on the Saturday... all will be well! DIL-to-be has got all sorts in place for me!

No rehearsal dinner - I don't think that's such a thing in UK? They have a beautiful venue and whilst everything is just so, we get on well with her family and it's all been sorted amicably with little fuss (comparatively!) including the dog sitters on site! My DIL-to-be could organise the UN!
