About 5 hours

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/01/2024 18:57

Sue, Tillly: I def love chocolate cake and always have! However, there is one cake, a coconut cake, that remains my all-time favourite and I've never found a match for it since. It was at a hotel in Las Vegas several years ago. 😥

re pants/trousers
we typically say pants for trousers;
underpants = underwear, but underwear is said more often; as a kid it would be gonch or ginch and a gonchie pull was when someone pulled your underwear up from behind so it went up your bum crack*

*answers to questions not asked
😂😂😂😂😂

That's what we call it, too.

It's interesting that the Irish and American use of pants is the same, but different from the British use.

I have my second physio appointment for my shoulder tonight. The exercises may be helping, which surprised me a bit.

Pants is what I use for the boys underwear ....
But mine are knickers ! 🤣!

even though they are the same size as the boys boxers/pants 🤣🤣...

gone are the days of pretty ones !!

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 10/01/2024 20:26

Down South we say kecks for underwear. Useful to know if I ever visit the North! Stop me looking horrified if some randomer says they like mine 😂

Went to a big park today and got lost for a bit in the middle.

bizzey · 10/01/2024 20:32

I always remember when the boys were younger and we were visiting and the ice-cream van would come by.

Dad use to say ..." Bizzey ..go upstairs to my room.....have a rummage in my pants ....I have some loose change in them "

🤣🤣🤣!

bizzey · 10/01/2024 20:39

Quite a boring but productive day for me today .

Lots of admin and phone calls sorted .

Got mam's OT and Physio referrals organised.

2 hospital appointments for ds sorted and confirmed.

Chased up BT who had told me I would get compensation for that time when my phone line was down /not working properly.

It has been confirmed it will come off February's bill (🤔!)

Should have come off the January bill !

But at least now I have email to confirm it .

thieving scallywags !!

I did some other productive stuff as well !

In fact ..I have been so productive today ....I haven't even watched TV !
🤣!

HildaTablet · 10/01/2024 20:40

Yes! Kecks! 😂😂 although I have to say, I’d argue that term could apply to your bills (see note below) as well.

*bills = undies, so called in Liverpool in homage to the late lamented TV presenter Bill Grundy, who famously conducted a VERY sweary interview with the Sex Pistols on prime time telly. I’m getting quite niche here, mind you MissC…

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/01/2024 21:44

Bizzey, yes, wedgie is also used. 😂 And it was more of a thing boys did to harass each other rather than girls. Thanks for the smiles re underwear chat everyone. ☺️
Made an easy lunch of spinach and cheese omelette with cottage cheese and grape tomatoes on the side. Was happy to see Havoc happily eating most of it.
Planning on lamb chops cooked in tomato sauce (pasta sauce)in a roaster in the oven and served with rigatoni for dinner.

IWanderedLonely · 10/01/2024 22:02

Haven't heard kecks for years. Was popular when I was a teenager aeons ago.
Had all the family for tea - 5 adults 5 children 2 toddlers. Now decompressing after sorting the house out!

MrsFloof · 10/01/2024 23:03

Just been swimming and DD got results of her Oxford entrance exam back, she was very happy with it. I got 3 emails from her about it.

bizzey · 10/01/2024 23:19

Looking positive MrsFloof !

I have now gone into brain overdrive and overthinking.

I am due up at mums tomorrow anyway ...but the OT. lady wants me to see how she gets into the bath with the bath seat

She is a very clever and astute OT. !

Way to complicated to explain ...

But I know ....in the next few months our family home of 40 years is going to have a big change happening to the bathroom

I just hope I help mam to come to the right decision

Mam is a fiercely independent woman ...but getting rid of her beloved bath will be hard 😔

bizzey · 10/01/2024 23:21

But ...😁😁...on a positive....one item less to clean !

Silver lining an all !!

Squeeeeeee 😁

Tilllly · 11/01/2024 03:49

Looks like some hard changes coming your way @bizzey
Best of luck

mathanxiety · 11/01/2024 18:38

bizzey - my mum is going to get some sort of step/platform plus a handle she can hold onto to get into and out of the bathtub (it's a bath with a shower). She'll also get a little shower stool. It took a long time to get her to agree to let the public health nurse in to see what she needed. At least she gave up baths though.

Tilllly · 11/01/2024 22:01

I've had a lazy day watching DS2 clean the house for me 😁

HelenaJustina · 11/01/2024 22:19

Evening all, in dull news, I’ve just finished the latest episode of Traitors. Am only watching them live rather than streaming and bingeing. Didn’t get into it last series but thought I’d see what the hype is about this time. Water cooler tv!

bizzey · 12/01/2024 00:48

Hi !

I had an interesting evening up at mam's house .

Lovely meal...but in no way up to @Mumtobabyhavoc standards !!!

Quiche ....open box and put in oven...

Beetroot salad ...open lid ...

Coleslaw...open lid...

Greek salad ...open lid and sauce over contents !

That is my culinary skills !!! 🤣🤣🤣...

We enjoyed it though!

Had long good chat about the bathroom.

She can't get in the bath ...
So she is happy for it to be changed to wet room /shower room .

Our local SS/Adult care have been very quick to get back toe which is good.

Thought could take upto 3 months for the work to get started.

Tough evening ...but as always mam and I always end up laughing about something !

English GCSE retake was a 3 again 😔.

I doubt if I would even get above a 2 if I was to try taking GCSE these days !! 😁🤣🤣

MrsFloof · 12/01/2024 01:53

Sorry about the GCSE retake Bizzey

Thanks Tilllly Glad you had an easy day. Hope you are recovering from chemo OK.

Tilllly · 12/01/2024 02:11

@bizzey I'm in awe of your lid opening skills
Wow!
I've not had quiche for yonks, I could do with a low calorie slow cooker recipe

@MrsFloof not terrible but it kicked my butt a bit this time so am taking it steady, thanks

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/01/2024 07:21

Snow storm and sub zero temps this afternoon. Seemed to have caught everyone off-guard... including me! The app on my phone didn't even show snow. 🤬
Snow turned to ice quickly and the roads were treacherous. Took about 90 mins to get across town (twice as long) to pick up cake driving in what became a bit of a blizzard... but 3 hours to get home. The delay left me exhausted and messed up dinner plans, so hoping for a do-over tomorrow. Cake is in the fridge though and I'm sure will be delicious tomorrow. 🥱
(I'm calm now, but I did have a melt-down earlier. Fatigue and hunger will do that to a girl...🤷‍♀️)

Bizzey, your take-out dinner sounds good to me! It sounds like you had an indoor pic-nic! 😃😃😃😛😛😛

MissConductUS · 12/01/2024 13:49

Bizzey, that sounds like a lovely meal. Not everything has to be made from scratch. There are times I marvel at my good fortune that DH loves to cook and has passed that along to DS.

Havoc, so sorry your weather app let you down. As an amateur meteorologist, I recommend the Wunderground (short for weather underground) app and website. I check the website daily, and my weather station feeds data to their network over the internet.

DD had her hair and makeup trial yesterday. She looked lovely and liked the stylist, so she's booking her for the wedding. She and the wedding planner also met with the florist, who is working on an estimate for what she wants. In a bit of a shocker, the groom's mum has offered to pay for the flowers. I don't know if she has an idea of how much it will cost, though.

OP posts:
Tilllly · 12/01/2024 22:08

@MissConductUS
I've the flowers to pay for next week
I can't believe how much they are 😱

I took DS2 shopping today, spent a fortune and then threw up on the way back to the car! Been a rough day!!! Not sure if the vomiting was the £ spent or the bastard chemo!
