Just curious as I'm 51 and they're still regular.

Im 56. Still having periods despite being menopausal in every other way. Sick of it to be honest.

babbi · 23/11/2023 07:39

55 and no sign of stopping yet and have just resigned myself to this being a lifetime deal 😩😩
Fed up with it too

I am nearly 58 and still have the odd one with the most forrendous PMT ever.

LimeOrangeLemon · 23/11/2023 07:45

I'm 49 and still having regular periods. My mum stopped at 54 so I'm expecting a few more years to come.

Fantasia99 · 23/11/2023 07:46

Hope you don't mind a 32 year old following along. I've been trying to educate myself around menopause (my mum entered menopause at 40) as I realised nobody was going to teach me!

DreamItDoIt · 23/11/2023 07:47

45

RampantIvy · 23/11/2023 07:48

50
I believe the average age is 52.
What influences the age they stop?
Does it have anything to do with the number of successful pregnancies? Is the number of months you are period free during a pregnancy added on at the end?

I had one child BTW.

Iwishmynamewassheilah · 23/11/2023 07:56

59!!

Morewineplease10 · 23/11/2023 07:59

My friend is 57 and still has them.
I think (hope) early 50s is average?

Feckedupbundle · 23/11/2023 08:00

56 and can go for up to 6 months without one, think that's it,then I'll get one out of the blue. My GP said that most women's periods stop in their early 50s,and that I was an exception, and that was 2.5 years ago.
Looking at the other responses,it isn't just me who is 'the exception'. after 45 years of periods,I've had enough.

FridgeJenga · 23/11/2023 08:03

@Fantasia99 I’m here to learn too 🙂

I was just over 49.

Does it mean my menopause started on the last day of my last period?
Unsure of of the terminology for the timings etc.
Happy to be educated.

stepintochristmas1 · 23/11/2023 08:03

Thirty nine just suddenly stopped just like that .

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/11/2023 08:03

Nearly 56 still going, and likewise bored of it. When will the well dry up, FGS!

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/11/2023 08:05

Menopause is when you haven't had a period for 12 months. Before that is perimenopause.

NeedWineNow · 23/11/2023 08:11

50

WmFnKdSg1234 · 23/11/2023 08:12

46 when my periods stopped. I didn't miss them. Felt really well initially. Once I was about 50 (and I am guessing: with little or no oestrogen by then) I felt absolutely, incredibly awful - aching stiff joints and bones. On HRT now.

Xanadu58 · 23/11/2023 08:12

My periods started to get erratic when I was 50 . They stopped when I was 52 .

Prisonbreak · 23/11/2023 08:13

I haven’t had a period since 29. 36 now

user701 · 23/11/2023 08:14

Lots of people nowadays won't ever know since they will be using the mirena coil as part of their hormone treatment.

ihaveayod · 23/11/2023 08:15

I was 56. Most of my friends stopped between the ages of 48 -51 but I just kept going and it felt like it was never going to end.

ollypollymolly · 23/11/2023 08:17

Apparently after the menopause you need a third LESS calories. Has anyone noticed this ?

Popetthetreehugger · 23/11/2023 08:18

I was still going strong at 56 when I had a total hysterectomy , my sister was the Same until she had same at 61!

Frostine · 23/11/2023 08:19

Had a natural early menopause 39 . I wasn't offered hrt and because the symptoms of it wasn't too bad , so therefore did not ask to go on them.
Sadly I now have clitoral atrophy ( it's basically shrivelled away to nothing ) and I'd hate to think what my bone density is like, so I kind of feel I was failed by my gp at the time who should have suggested I went on it .

Inastatus · 23/11/2023 08:22

I was 57. They were regular right up until about 6 months before that then they started being a bit erratic before stopping altogether.
