Just curious as I'm 51 and they're still regular.

I'm just 53. It occurred to my recently that I can't remember the lady time I had a period. Maybe a year ago.

Apparently after the menopause you need a third LESS calories. Has anyone noticed this ?

For me that was true, but not for everyone. Menopause effects people in such different ways. I put on nearly 4 stone because I was just eating normally and still going to the gym the same. I find it very difficult to eat so little.

My periods stopped when I was 52.

Yes.

For me it is true.

TotalOverhaul · 23/11/2023 10:36

I was 51. Way too late imo.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/11/2023 10:37

Most of my Friends have stopped and gone through menopause a few years ago

Im 50 and still every 28 days bang on

I did ivf to have mini blondes and R.E.M. the doc saying to me I had good eggs for a bird my age - this was when I was 41/42 due to my amh and fsh results

dottyaboutstripes · 23/11/2023 10:38

I was 49. I had my first period at 10 so I think I'd suffered for long enough, I was over the bloody moon for them to stop!

IMustDoMoreExercise · 23/11/2023 10:41

Last July when I was 56. My last 3 were 6 months apart but before that they were every 6 to 8 weeks.

So I haven't had a period for around 16 months.

Jewelspun · 23/11/2023 10:43
  1. I had an endometrial ablation to remove the lining of my womb. I went through the menopause trouble free and having no periods ever again has been wonderful.
Organaforever · 23/11/2023 10:43

45 menopause.
Last period at 43. Just stopped.

Same here! Last DC at 39, breastfed into my early 40s, only had about three periods after that, including one big deluge like I was a teen again - didn't realise at the time that was a menopause symptom.

I'm 45 now and haven't had a hint of a period for 16 months. Felt odd to go straight from pregnancy and feeding into menopause but stranger things have happened I guess.

witchypaws · 23/11/2023 10:48

If mine stop at 50 that means 41 years of the damn things
40 now and just diagnosed with severe endometriosis

keye · 23/11/2023 10:51

I have one a month now but it only lasts about 36 hours! This has been after coming off the coil - late 40s

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 23/11/2023 10:51
  1. They were erratic for a couple of years before that. I had hot flushes but they weren't too bad, and stopped almost completely after a year or so. A long time without hot flushes now apart from two times, both when DH woke me up in the night and stressed me (putting light on, making a racket) when I had been in a deep sleep.
Medusaismyhero · 23/11/2023 11:02

I'm 47 and currently 12 days late (no chance of pregnancy either!). I'm wondering "is this it?"

I doubt it though. I'm normally on a 23-25 day cycle but did have a 31 day cycle December 22 into January this year.

I haven't heard this, but if you follow your hunger then eating fewer calories shouldn't be difficult.

The problem I found is that you put the weight on in the year that you’re waiting to see if you are going to have another period or not . I’ve got an extra stone now I didn’t need . All too easy to comfort eat if you’re feeling rubbish too . I think I was 49 .. technically my year is a month a way

CharlotteBog · 23/11/2023 11:18

I hope this doesn't jinx things for me.

I am 53. Last period was in April. I'm really hoping I can go for the whole 12 months needed to put me into menopause rather than perimenopause.
I know of more than a few people who got to 9 or 10 months period free and then BOOM - the mother of all periods arrived, as if their womb was having one final clear out, AND you have to start the clock again.

I have had a couple of years of irregular periods (long gaps, short gaps, painful, barely nothing - just annoying really). Symptoms are manageable atm - phases of night sweats and hot flushes, poor sleep, I've always been highly strung and emotional and latterly had a period of circumstance-related depression so it's hard to know whether stuff like crying with frustration at things being moving in the supermarket is hormone related, just being tired, or just being me (busy lone parent and sandwich filling).

I do tonnes of exercise which I know doesn't mean I'll avoid meno problems, but it definitely helps me emotionally.

So far, I haven't found this to be the case. I am not a comfort eater though.

WotNoUserName · 23/11/2023 11:24

I'm on day 85 of my cycle. I would be overjoyed if they've gone forever! I'm 47 and started when I was 10, so no more thank you!

adriftabroad · 23/11/2023 11:33

Those saying they cannot wait for them to end.

Be careful what you wish for.
