Things people do that make you cringe?

People posting photos of their holiday on social media with a caption like “this is how my Monday morning is looking”. Like calm down Joanne, you’ll be back in the office by next Monday.

Middle management telling me they pay my wages.

People thinking that are different and edgy because they wear Dr Martens (I do still love the boots though)

I once accidentally typed ‘foof’ instead of ‘food’ in a work email. There were many recipients and it became widely known office lore. It was 10+ years ago and I’m still cringing now…

🤣

Itsybitsyminion · 12/11/2023 00:08

When people use the word "like" in every sentence!

LemonadeSunshine · 12/11/2023 00:10

People using 'gifted' rather than 'given, such as, 'We were gifted the rug'...Grrr!!!

Itsybitsyminion · 12/11/2023 00:13

Calling your partner Mommy or Daddy ... cringe

Hamsterinaball · 12/11/2023 00:16

@Pinkpinkpink15

What if I had 63p in the leccy 😂

Charge it before coming to mines please lol

SM4713 · 12/11/2023 00:17

@Theholidaysarecoming People that spell queue as que, but can clearly write and spell the word queuing. 😕

orchardsquare · 12/11/2023 00:18

The word 'poonami'. I think it started on Mumsnet, but now it has reached the mainstream in things like Pampers adverts. It makes me cringe inside out every time I hear it.

Bluemoon1881 · 12/11/2023 00:20

🎶It should of been me 🎶🎶👰🤣🤢

The mum on the WhatsApp year group asking if it's PE day every day.

Hahaha thisss

SmokeyToo · 12/11/2023 00:28

Bad grammar and, particularly, the misuse of apostrophes. "Potato's". I get irrationally angry when I see it! There was even a joke political party about it here one year - the Apostrophe Party - that actually stood in a state or federal election. I didn't waste a vote on it, but I was sorely tempted!

WoollyBat · 12/11/2023 00:40

So true about "this one" on social media. It makes me really cringe and shudder but I don't even know what it is about it! Why is it so infuriating?

Someone said it to me in RL once about her boyfriend who was there too, that she'd been spending lots of time with "this one". Aaaaarggh I wanted to run screaming from the room!

Kittykatastrophe · 12/11/2023 01:24

#myworld pics with their 7th partner of the year 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Theholidaysarecoming People that spell queue as que, but can clearly write and spell the word queuing. 😕

For me it is que instead of cue.

"He wants his dinner on the table and I said I was too tired to cook.....que huge argument"

Or should I put "Hubby wants his noms and I am sleepybobs que meltdown" cos "meltdown" instead of "tantrum" annoys me. Anyone who has experience a full proper loss of control, either of themselves or someone else, knows that a stampy footed tantrum is not the same.

This! 1000000 times this!

Gettingbysomehow · 12/11/2023 02:48

People at work who moan incessantly about the job. Yes we all love working for 50 years before we can retire love we don't need someone drumming it into us every damned day. Shut up.

MeinKraft · 12/11/2023 03:06

People who post something which is nearly always something mundane followed by 'discuss' or, worse, '3,2,1...go!' As if we are all just sitting frantically waiting to give Laura our opinions on blush pink wedding dresses or the number for a window cleaner.

Thistlewoman · 12/11/2023 03:06

Its not all Glaswegians though tbh. My husband is Glaswegian (I'm from the West Country) and he's never said 'jaiy' or 'haitch'. Just as well. That would be grounds for divorce.

MeinKraft · 12/11/2023 03:09

And 'is it just me?' If you are asking this then no, you're not that unique and it's not just you.

'Is it just me who buys physical books these days? Everyone seems to have a kindle but I so love holding a real book' well given that thousands of physical copies are sold daily and they're readily available in supermarkets I think it's fair to say you're not even slightly special Laura, sorry.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 12/11/2023 06:21

People who say I could care less when it is I couldn't care less, does my head in.

Mamabear122345 · 12/11/2023 07:16

You obv don't have kids that are at toddler age ! I have 3 kids under 3 and even with a twin trolley I have to let one go in the back . Yes you will say do online deliveries but bringing 3 kids up is expensive so I do groceries at Lidl who don't do online shopping . So thank ton very much j will keep letting one of my kids stand in the trolley . Noone ways food directly out the trolley so stop dramatising it . If let the kids that can walk walk they wud spend more time emptying the shelves so no not all kids than can walk wud be allowed to walk round shops .

sashh · 12/11/2023 07:16

I've just thought of one on here.

In the baby names someone will post something like, "I really like classical girl's names, Victoria or Elizabeth type names but I can't use those"

The someone will come on and suggest something like Kaneesha Sunshine".

There is nothing wrong with Kaneesh Sunshine but it is clearly not a 'classical' name.

Sometimes people do it the other way, so it's a modern name or a unique name and someone else will suggest Hilda or Cassandra.

Freshair1 · 12/11/2023 07:48

'lovely' in place of your name..... A certain breastfeeding group on FB uses it a LOT and it makes me murderous. 'oh lovely.. that does sound tough. Oh lovely, have you tried a sling? Have you any real life support, my lovely?'..... Fuck. Right. Off.

Also, should of.
Also, any adult posting shite on FB and Insta about their 'this one' or 'my family.'
Also, any grown adult adorning their homes with shite from B&M bargains while uploading hauls to YouTube.
Any grown ass woman that uploads a cleaning video to SM. Seriously, are men posting cleaning videos? Are men spending their time organising fecking drawers? No they bloody aren't!
What else makes me cringe? The cognitive dissonance required to post this while people are blown apart in countries around the world. Modern life sucks.

Norisca · 12/11/2023 07:57

People who ask the entire WhatsApp group something they could easily look up themselves or that was already shared recently.
