my sheets got changed today. I am sitting on my freshly ironed newly made bed with a plate of gorgonzola, mushroom and walnut pasta. there was a hairy moment earlier when my fitted sheet wasn't ironed properly and had to be done again... but all sorted now.

Silkiefloof · 17/10/2023 16:31

Thanks for new thread MissC

Lovely sounding pasta Cookiemonster

DH has gone to pick up DDs birthday cake and cupcakes, red velvet.

Silkiefloof · 17/10/2023 16:37

Got a final salary pension forecast and it had gone down which was 🤔but turns out they had calculated it starting 10 years earlier than before (which is before I can even get it).

therealcookiemonster · 17/10/2023 17:07

@Silkiefloof oooh I do love a red velvet cake!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/10/2023 17:25

Waking up... and place marking. 😊

MissConductUS · 17/10/2023 18:59

Welcome, @therealcookiemonster, and thanks for sharing your bedding and salad news. Ironed sheets sound very posh. I get the no-iron type, as I hate ironing.

I saw this fuzzy fellow at the same place on the wall around the reservoir yesterday, so today I assumed he was waiting for me to take his picture and make him famous on MN.

that looks sweet. what is it?

therealcookiemonster · 17/10/2023 19:17

ps I am a lazy bugger, I never do my own ironing. if I had to do it, I wouldn't iron sheets either lol.

MissConductUS · 17/10/2023 19:34

I think it's some sort of caterpillar, but Mr Google is not helping identify the species. I'm in New York and this type is fairly common here.

Husband has made a chicken traybake for dinner, he’s just putting DS to bed then we will tuck in. The house is cosy as the heating is on. I might have a bramble gin.

whyyy321 · 17/10/2023 19:40

Everyone's evenings sound so cosy! Especially the ironed bedsheets, ooh that sounds really lovely.

Did a veg and feta traybake with potatoes for tea, heating is definitely on here.

therealcookiemonster · 17/10/2023 19:41

@MissConductUS I have just done an extensive Google search (yes I have urgent things to do but this just seemed more important) and I think it may be a woolly bear caterpillar and will become a moth? could be wrong...

Polkadotpjs · 17/10/2023 19:51

Just back from a work trip and going to have a bath and now going to make pasta and blue cheese - thanks for the inspiration! ❤️

IWanderedLonely · 17/10/2023 22:08

Been MIA for a while, combination of life, feeling shit and mum (93) having a chest infection.
I say settee, scone to rhyme with stone, and the most important- breakfast, dinner and tea.

IWanderedLonely · 17/10/2023 22:09

Also, sorry I've not read through yet and have probably missed loads.

pandora206 · 17/10/2023 22:16

I just flew back to the UK with Easyjet and got a whole row to myself! I couldn't believe my luck - I had pre-booked a seat but this was even better.

I put the armrests up, spread my stuff around, and moved to the window for the view when landing. I even used all three 'tables' at different times.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/10/2023 01:40

Iwandered, ohhhh, "dinner" is another topic! 👍
I think of dinner as a later evening meal, say after 7pm, and supper 5-7pm. I heard "tea" in Australia a lot for a late afternoon meal.
I make "dinner" and we eat between 7-8pm.
I'm doing it early today because, well, pregnant and hungry. 🤣
What about you? How do you define dinner and tea?

Tonight's meal:
roasted acorn squash tossed in evoo, salt and Chinese 5 spice; roasted potatoes tossed in evoo and garlic powder roasting over rosemary sprigs;
rigatoni with sautéed mushrooms, spinach and garlic cream; and lamb chops that are marinating in rosemary, garlic and evoo. I'll pan fry those and add cranberries and a bit of water to the pan at the end for a bit of au jus.
yeah, have got an appetite tonight!!!!😛😛😛

Silkiefloof · 18/10/2023 06:27

Welcome back to the lovely Iwandered Sorry you have been feeling low and hope your Mum gets better soon.

Welcome to all the newbies.

We had aligot last night for dinner, love your dinner pics Havoc.

Been squashed under a giant snoring cat sounds lovely Tilllly. What type of cat do you have? We love cat pictures on here if you are happy to share.

Our Maine Coon is just pestering DH for breakfast. It's 6.20am here. DH saying it's time to sleep Pepere. Good luck with that DH. Floof is trilling and poking with his big paw. In about 2 minutes DH will give in and give Floof his tuna. Now it's calm down Pepere.

The outside painters and decorators will be back today. They sanded down 3 windows and one door yesterday.

DD has her Oxford entrance exam today, it's just sat at her school.

Lemonsandlemonade · 18/10/2023 08:01

MyBedIsMySpiritualHome · 18/10/2023 08:10

Morning all, this is what I need today.
Just about to take DS to school and also take the old sofa to the dump. After 3 years of saving we are finally having our new sofas delivered tomorrow - and today is my last day of work for the week.

I finish work at at two, have a parents evening, and then this evening will be painting in the living room ready for the new sofa arriving tomorrow.

ForfarBridie · 18/10/2023 08:17

Good morning everyone. I’m just home from a very short trip back to Scotland for a family wedding. It was lovely but not as lovely as the frost in the garden when I woke up yesterday morning. It was the icing on the cake for me. I’m currently in bed after having a wee sleep and that’s where I’m going to stay today. It was a long flight home after a very busy holiday and I’m going to get stuck into my new book.

Silkiefloof · 18/10/2023 08:36

Sorry your DS is poorly Lemons

That's a lot of meals WmFnKdSg1234 😁

Welcome ForfarBridie Glad the wedding was good and that it's good to be back home.

Enjoy the new sofas MyBedIsMySpiritualHome

Painters and decorators have just arrived and starting work. Having cup of tea in bed.
