Just got back from the walk-in clinic. Luckily my back is only muscle strain.

bizzey · 19/12/2023 14:55

Sue ..glad it is "just " muscle strain rather than anything broken.

Still painful though.

bizzey · 19/12/2023 14:57

I have so much to do today ...
So far I have ....

Made a list of all the things I have to do ! 🤣🤣🤣.....and that is it !

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/12/2023 16:25

Good plan to go to clinic, Sue.Glad you got it sorted. Heal fast!!!!!

Tilllly · 19/12/2023 16:56

Can I be not calm?

DS2 got a needlestick from a Hep C patient today
Have to wait for possibly a week to see if he's been infected - tho transmission risk is low

Frustratingly, an avoidable accident, colleague didn't cap the needle properly. She must feel awful

whyyy321 · 19/12/2023 17:25

Any updates on the laugh silkies?

havoc, am wildly impressed as ever - I mostly sat on my bum whilst pregnant when not at work!

Urgh I am over 2023, it can get in the bin. Since DS started nursery in July someone is always ill! Currently both he and I are with seemingly different things (him a fever and cough, me an upset tummy). Luckily have a wonder mil who has invited DS and DH over to stay tonight to try and minimise spread from me to them (she does part of our childcare so has already been exposed to his bug).

I feel very lucky to have her. She has him overnight once a week to support us whilst I work away so often, and will also have him if we have non-child friendly plans. I obviously also feel massively guilty that he's away from us some nights. Can't win can you, with motherhood?

Sorry not the most calming post! Hopefully on road to recovery tomorrow and can return to lovely calming thoughts :)

Silkiefloof · 19/12/2023 20:03

Beautiful photos Havoc You are doing so much, make sure you rest as well as it will be full on with a toddler and a baby.

Why I discussed with DD and she thinks it would have been DS laughing I heard and she said she's seen him silent laugh but no sound. It did sound like DSs old laugh but its just so long since we heard any noise from him that its 🙀 I had the Maudsley call to discuss.

Helena DD did think about selling via Vinted though don't think she would do any of the work involved. She used to give her clothes to a girl at school and that worked well as that family had no money (to the point Mum shoplifts food and DD has paid for things in the shop for her in the past) but she's not in touch anymore. But hopefully we can find someone like that again or give them to a charity shop. Her current school is state but quite posh state.

Hoovered upstairs and went through kitchen for 2 hours sorting everything and cleaning, made another sack of rubbish. Good job its black bin day tomorrow.

Having cottage pie and broccolli for dinner. I had my first mince pie today which was lovely. Watching Below Deck Med. DD went to school. Floof was bashing me on the head with a big fluffy paw whilst I was clearing out the fridge, think he was a bit upset at the thought of old food going in the bin. But he's super happy with the lavender smelling kitchen and also the advent musical song.

Silkiefloof · 19/12/2023 20:05

Hope your DS is OK Tilllly Its probably fine but always nerve wracking with these things.

Glad your back is OK Sue

IWanderedLonely · 19/12/2023 20:35

Had the day from hell at work today. Went back to work this evening just to catch up. I do admin for the Church of England so it's a busy time then I have to deal with dickheads

bizzey · 19/12/2023 20:36

I want to send you all my soothing smell from my Christmas wax melts .....but I think they have been a bit too smoothing today 🤣!

I am only onto #2 in my list.

I have done mam's food order...

I am now onto wrapping presents.

And just realised......that I can't find the 100 million left over tags from last year ....so have had to order more 🤣🤣🤣!!

Wrapped some of the boys ....and just wrote their name on the paper !

We /I have decided that Christmas day and Father Christmas visit will be next Wednesday when ds arrives

All their presents sort of match and have a theme so can't be opened out of sync !

Crikey....I really am a control freak arnt I !!

Just can't open presents without ds !

Lemonsandlemonade · 19/12/2023 21:38

Just catching up and checking in.

we have been so busy here and had illness after illness and problems with the electric.

Got my turkey ready for next week I didn’t order from butcher in time so got it at supermarket.

sproutsandparsnips · 19/12/2023 22:55

Oh dear Lemons hope you are all recovered now.
Bizzey you seem to be doing very well at your preparations!
Ah Tilllly that must be worrying for you all, though I think there is only a small risk of transmission even in a patient known to be positive.
Lovely picture Havoc! Good luck with impending arrival - you are inspirational with your productivity!
Death that all sounds very complicated - but a book club sounds really enjoyable -glad you had a good time.
That does sound a very busy weekend Helena. I have not been to as many Carol services as I would have liked this year. I was able to go to most of our hospital service today but as the majority was in Welsh and I couldn't see the screen for the translation and my Welsh was not up to scratch, it was not as fulfilling as I'd hoped!
DS has a cough and fever, and he is not coping well...... Managed to cook himself a steak though and had an ice cream to soothe his throat you understand!
I have had the final ratified result for my prescribing course and I have a distinction! Very pleased with myself......
It's been a full on 2 days in work and another 12 hour day tomorrow but then I'm off and can finish preparations (and I'm a bit behind). Deliver local cards by hand, finish wrapping, do Christmas food shop and try and savour some festive cheer!

Tilllly · 19/12/2023 23:50

@Silkiefloof @sproutsandparsnips

I'm sure it'll be fine, as you say risk of transmission is low. Plus he's healthy and even if he's infected, every reason to expect a full recovery

But honestly, 2023 can get to fuck
One star
Do not recommend

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/12/2023 00:22

Sprouts, I not tjat productive. Lots of procrastinating leading to anxiety then finally pushing at zero hour...🤦‍♀️ Last couple months have been difficult die to feeling very tire and some other inconveniences of pregnancy; and having covid for so long this year meant May-Aug were a write-off. 🤷‍♀️

Got Havoc to school this morning despite another sleepless night; came home and made a bit of lunch then attempted to put Havoc down for nap as had 3 surgical tele-med appts this afternoon. Was also hoping to get new baby items into wash. Havoc awake and not a wink of sleep, soooo... now trying to get Havoc to snack and planning on taking Havoc out gor a bit then going to try for dinner and an earlier bedtime. 🤞

Silkie, here's to more laughter from your DS. 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Hope everyone poorly or stressed turns the corner. 🩷

mathanxiety · 20/12/2023 02:14

MissC I saw your storm on the news and I'm glad no trees fell on your house and that you seem to have power still. DD3 in Boston decided to wear her raincoat and sneakers to her morning classes today and was soaked to the bone. I'm not sure what else she could have worn tbh, maybe boots to keep her feet dry. She ran a bath to warm up when she got back home.

HelenaJustina · 20/12/2023 06:20

Some neighbours have been put on a generator due to a power problem, so that’s being running all night. And now the whole village has woken up to no water! Don’t need this right now!

MissConductUS · 20/12/2023 17:00

Lemons, it's lovely to see you back. I'm sorry to hear about your bout of illnesses and power problems. There's probably very little difference between the supermarket turkey and the one the butcher would have sold you.

Silkie, speaking of hoovering, DD has brought home a Dyson vacuum she bought for use at uni, and it has a green LED light on it that shows you where the dirt and cat hair are on the floor. It's pretty remarkable how much is there that I didn't suspect.

The tree blokes are at the house to remove the tree that fell over and trim the dead branches threatening our power line. I've been watching them on one of our outdoor Ring cameras.

DD went to get her driver's license renewed the day before it expires. Tomorrow is her birthday. She's now at Nordstrom's, a posh department store, shopping for shoes to go with her wedding dress.

I have noticed that we are rapidly approaching the end of the thread, and have started a new one.

Oh no Helena that is a disaster. Fingers crossed you have water soon.

I hope you are feeling a little better now Sue.

I remember shopping for shoes for my sister's wedding MissC. It was a happy day.

I relate to so much stuff you can't find it Bizzey. I recently bought a book and discover I already have it yesterday. Your tags will show up at Easter when you don't need them!

Wishing you a better 2024 Tilllly.

Congratulations on your results Sprouts 🎉🥇👩‍🎓

MissConductUS · 20/12/2023 19:02

Math, even the tree bloke couldn't understand why the falling tree, which completely blocked the road in front of our house, didn't take down the power lines. It must have fallen at a diagonal across the road. It was quite a tall tree. And the storm was a corker. Lots of people lost power and many roads flooded out.

The tree crew has left, and DD has returned home. I'll get a shoe-shopping report tonight.

Hope today was better Iwandered

Welcome back Lemons

Hope you find a Christmas solution Bizzey

So sorry 2023 has been rubbish Tilllly At least its nearly over and hope 2024 will be better.

Well done on course success Sprouts

Happy birthday to your DD MissC

Hope water is back Helena

Hope you have rested today Havoc

Didn't sleep at all last night though managed to sleep between 8am and 12.30pm so caught up part of it. Watched Winter House which is trash and awful. DH has gone to pick up a Thai meal, having the same as last time veg with cashew nuts though pineapple rice this time, not tried that before and love fruit. Had beans and cheese on toast and then a minced pie with a cup of tea for lunch. Ordered a Nintendo for DS for Christmas and a game for it, last of the presents. DH has booked a 2 day trip for him to see his Mum in France after Christmas, I will stay with the kids as DS still won't leave house. Played the Christmas song. Recycling out. Remaining things from hamper in cupboard. DD is staying overnight with a friend and has now finished school term.

Tilllly · 20/12/2023 22:48

🍍 🍚!?!

Oh wow

Never heard of that

Want

Tilllly · 20/12/2023 22:52

We're nearly at 1000 posts

Silkiefloof · 21/12/2023 00:30

Yes pineapple rice was good but my veg with cashew nut stir fry they gave me veg stir fry, lovely veg but no cashew nuts grumpf and chillis so hot and spicy and I like mild. They gave me the dish 1 number wrong.

I was so traumatised by this I needed a cup of tea and a mince pie before I stabilised again. Very healthy at least the veg. Yes there's a thread 28 now Tilllly, see you there.
