I didn’t realise there was a new thread and was wondering why nobody had posted on the old one 🤦‍♀️

Welcome to all the new joiners

I've done precisely nothing today except get a flu jab, which I had to pay for, much to my annoyance, as everywhere has stopped doing free ones unless you qualify and I don’t. So I booked it at Superdrug (a pharmacy chain) and got it reduced price with my loyalty card. Small wins.

DH came with me and we split up for him to check out the charity shop books while I was jabbed. We then dropped into the supermarket in town which we love as it stocks EVERY kind of world food you can imagine. I mean everything. Massive sacks of rice, flour, Polish delicacies, mouthwatering Greek bread they bake on the premises, olives, really inexpensive boxes of fresh dates, mangoes, different cheeses, Indian food…everything. It’s amazing. Actually it’s dangerous as you could spend ££££££ in there. I managed to get out without too much damage, just a lovely bag of freshly-baked flatbread.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/10/2023 18:27

Floof, regal as ever, handsome boy!

QuestionableMouse · 18/10/2023 18:30

Had a busy day at work - I'm just about to run a bath and have a nice soak. It's really windy and cold here!

I've just been looking at blankets - I'd love a new one for on the couch but can't have wool and don't want anything synthetic. Really want a muslin blanket but I'm not sure if they're very warm!

therealcookiemonster · 18/10/2023 18:54

@HildaTablet omg that supermarket sounds fabulous. is that in London?

@QuestionableMouse apparently alpaca wool blankets are very nice? would that be out of the question too? there are some nice linen blankets on JL website last time I checked, or maybe a quilted blanket? muslin throw will be pretty but not warm I am afraid...

Bovrilla · 18/10/2023 18:57

It's wild and throwing it down with rain here. Fleece blanket is out, I will be having a hot chocolate with bake off and cuddling up with my pooch.

Had a migraine today so have pottered doing work from home, but on my trip out to Boots for stronger headache stuff I may have treated myself to some posh shampoo and conditioner.

HildaTablet · 18/10/2023 19:06

@therealcookiemonster no, we're in the commuter belt just outside London and really lucky to have it, it’s the size of a fairly decent proper supermarket too. The only problem is working out what some of the more mysterious products are, as I don’t read Polish or any of the other languages on the enticing labels!

I’ve got my heated throw out, I have to admit. Haven’t plugged it in yet, but it’s very warm just tucked over my knees. It’s chucking it down outside this evening.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/10/2023 19:36

Hilda, the "google translate" app has a camera feature to translate text. Works well.
That grocery store sounds great!

Silkiefloof · 18/10/2023 19:43

Thanks Math Victoria sponge sounds nice.

Thanks Cookie and Havoc

Lovely sounding supermarket Hilda

sueelleker · 18/10/2023 19:55

Math What's the difference between the recipes? I always thought Victoria sponge was just equal weights of butter, sugar, eggs and flour. That's how I've always done it, anyway.

Welcome, @QuestionableMouse, and thanks for sharing your news. I know I've seen your handle on other threads, but I can't recall which.

I have some cotton weave blankets that are lovely and warm. You can get them on Amazon.

It's so pretty here in the fall.

Ahhh kitty is about to test the temperature of your water 😁🤣!

bizzey · 18/10/2023 20:52

Sorry ..hello @QuestionableMouse !

WmFnKdSg1234 · 18/10/2023 21:08

Glad to be inside this evening. It is heavy rain here. My partner tried to entice me to go to the gym - no thanks sweetheart!😆I told him to do a bit for me....

Happily watching Judge Judy (you've got to love JJ) whilst knitting wrist warmers - nice and easy, low stress and useful for those of us with stiff arthritic fingers and hands.

Just had a quiet sea walk this afternoon. And this happened, felt lovely with all the relentless horror on the news.

Cute cat Mouse

Lovely rainbow Lollipop

All stuffed here full of pizza and red velvet cake. DD said exam went well.

IWanderedLonely · 18/10/2023 21:41

Gosh, this thread is very busy!
Havoc dinner is between 12 & 2 ( lunch to southerners, and my sister who likes to pretend she's posh). Tea is the main meal and we usually eat about 5.30 p.m.
Sprouts we went to Cardigan last year, lovely place ( though we got a parking ticket for parking our campervan in a car park that didn't allow campervans, which we didn't see)
Lemons is that beach across the estuary from Aberdovey? Hope your DS is feeling better.
Today was my busy family Wednesday, off to work tomorrow for a rest Grin

Tilllly · 18/10/2023 21:43

@Silkiefloof
I hate sharing pictures of my cats.... ;)

Hope and Yumyum are the black ones. Hope was abandoned pregnant and Yumyum was the only kitten to survive
Big bad Buttons wasn't a rescue, his Mum was - rescued as a male... not a pg female!

Lemonsandlemonade · 18/10/2023 21:49

@IWanderedLonely yeah it is. It’s an area of Wales I love but am not as keen on Aberdovey. I love the beaches around Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. Like Mwnt beach and Llangrannog (sp?!) beach.

I agree Cardigan is lovely. Sorry you had a parking ticket.

Silkiefloof · 18/10/2023 21:50

Lovely cats Tilllly Yes cat owners hate showing their cats off😂They are truly catting in their boxes.

Hope you had a good family day Iwandered

DH got a rare pic of DD, she normally photo refuses though is very beautiful. I was like that too though now am older regret it a bit.

Silkiefloof · 18/10/2023 21:52

Love the picture of the cat with his paw round the other cat.

We had that with the silkies once, in the car one Silkie put it's wing around another Silkie like it was protecting it.

WmFnKdSg1234 · 18/10/2023 22:34

Loving the cats photos- I miss my lovely old cat.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/10/2023 22:36

Love all the pics posted here today! 😊
Silkie, glad your dd feels good about exam. Fingers crossed for her to get good results!!!! 🤞
Iwandered, well, that would confuse me. 😵‍💫
Every now and again you hear "luncheon" used. ie Why don't we put on a luncheon for her going away party?
Lollipop, a walk along the beach is so nice and calming.

Wore rain boots and knee high wool socks today. I really don't feel comfortable in the boots (tall Hunters). Too cumbersome.
