The Hallowe'en lights is a walk-through thing in a park in a suburb. You start in an open area with photo-op displays to stand in front of of sit in and there is music and food trucks; then you walk down a winding path with coloured lights; come to another open area with displays to pose with; then the main gate. Upon entry there is a lit up light tunnel. It takes about 60-90 mins to walk the trail with little ones. Themed displays along the way; trees lit up; a sponsored section with a witch handing out candy; then you end up in the first entry area at the end. Themes I remember: Wizard of Oz, Toy Story, Ghostbusters; Club 27; various ghouls/skeletons/lights etc. It was quite well done!

Wait for ds to get here .
Just him ,gf is working.
Beef stew all ready for him.
Other DS and I have had ours ...and ...even if I say so myself..pretty Yummy ! 🤣.

I think it is because I literally put everything in the big (new !!) saucepan and let it do its own thing !!

Well I did do somethings different this time !

Ohhh and confession time ....

While organising the sitting room...
In the " dumping corner " that no one can see...I found a box of chocolates from last Christmas 😲!

Still in cellophane..so I have taken them up to my room to test out to see if they are still edible 🤣🤣.

They fell down behind somethings that never get moved ...well until now !!

QuestionableMouse · 20/10/2023 20:29

Hope everyone is okay with this weather! The wind is howling outside and it's lashing rain.

I had a nice tea, was thinking about having a glass of winter but I'm making hazelnut hot choc instead!

Silkiefloof · 20/10/2023 20:37

Hazelnut hot chocolate sounds lovely. Weather is bleak here today but far better than been in Scotland and 4 days today have been sunny and mild mostly.

Just had a Chinese meal with king prawns and vegetables and 1 bbq spare rib - DH had some of my king prawns and veg. Then had a slice of red velvet birthday cake and a cup of tea. Have also got a lime juice and water.

DS's impressive eating of red velvet cake continues now at 8 red velvet cupcakes from bakers and 1 slice of red velvet cake in 48 hours. He could possibly go for the world record soon.

Now in bed in my new fleece duvet and fleece sheet, lovely and cosy. Its lilac for both. My embroidered bird duvet is now washing and will be put away for next spring afterwards.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/10/2023 22:00

Bizzey, I gotta laugh at your plan to take the choccies to your room -- to gorge in private! LOL. WE ARE KINDREDS!

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 21/10/2023 01:47

Hot chocolate for me too, with a cinnamon stick in it.

There's a new cat in my street. It's very nervous so I've yet to make friends with it. One day, hopefully. I love cats.

The pumpkin place looks fun Havoc

That's disappointing about the wedding venue MissC, the other one sounds promising though. Would make a handy excuse for limiting the numbers too.

I like your style Bizzey 🍫 hope they were edible still.

I have the storm now Mouse, hoping my car doesn't leak.

Silkiefloof · 21/10/2023 16:04

DD went to her punting job but river conditions were too unsafe for punting so all got sent home after an hour.

DS has continued impressive cake eaten and eaten a quarter of the big cake and 1 cupcake overnight and all finished.

Weather bit meh here today but just drizzly rather than really bad. Sorting the house a bit. Had a brie and grape toasted sandwich. Floof wanted to get in the toaster.

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 21/10/2023 16:15

Toasted Floof 😆. Our river is always raging after heavy rain Silkie, would be like kayaking wild water rafting in places in the winter. Glad DD is safe.

I've not felt well lately all I want to do is sleep.

Silkiefloof · 21/10/2023 16:38

Hope you feel better soon Mallards

Need a giant sandwich toaster for a toasted Floof. 🙀Was just trying to get his nose in as he liked the smell of the toasted brie.

DD was disappointed not to punt today as only paid for hours worked and has a journey in and back but they pay very well overall. She is cooking her veggie stuff atm.

Trying to sort house a bit.

bizzey · 21/10/2023 17:48

Hope you feel better soon Mallards.

Horrible day here weather wise.
Non stop rain all day , so haven't done much apart from eating chocolates!!.
Wrapping ds's birthday presents for tomorrow.
And getting ready for my Saturday night TV marathon!
Love my Saturday TV.
Silly quiz game first then Strictly Come Dancing!

Then some more funny quiz programs !

MissConductUS · 21/10/2023 17:55

The storms in the UK made the news here briefly, which is very unusual. I hope you all stay safe.

Silkie, it's odd what human foods some cats like. I used to have a cat that was crazy for yogurt. She once got a plastic yogurt container stuck on her head as she was trying to lick the yogurt off the bottom.

I figured out why DD's future mother-in-law recommended the rubbish wedding venue we visited yesterday. It's just down the road from the church they used to attend, so I think she was hoping that if we picked that venue, DD would have the ceremony done in her old church.

We had a call with DD last night to tell her the bad news about the two venues. DH told her that while her top pick was already booked for her date, it was available two weeks later. The date that was carved in stone is now somewhat flexible, and we will make calls on Monday to see if the church is available then as well. WP also has to check her calendar, which was something we hadn't considered. She'll let us know later today. If those two bits fall into place and we can book the venue this coming week, that will be a huge relief.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/10/2023 19:03

Silkie, might I suggest adding prosciutto to that lovely brie and grape sandwich? 😛😛😛
I used to pop by a cafe that did brie and prosciutto on baguette. Grapes (oh, and maybe a titch of dijon?) take it to a new level!

Silkiefloof · 21/10/2023 19:06

Yes I did wonder MissC whether the guest list might be the entire church. I might be tempted by the smaller venue and less people on the other side. Hope you get something sorted soon.

Hope your DS has a lovely birthday Bizzey

DH is just making the broccoli and potato bake. I watched a travel show on Netflix last night where they went to Jordan, Bergen and Dubrovnik. Floof keeps going on top of DH in bed sitting on his legs and DH is very happy about it. Though you really feel it when Floof goes on top of you at 8kgs.

Echobelly · 21/10/2023 19:09

I have cleaned out our ensuite bathroom drawers which were a sticky, overcrowded mess. Chucked out a lot of past use-by skin lotions of DH, and cleaned a lot of mess that's mine. Bought some plastic baskets to organise the drawers a bit better, let's see how that long lasts, but it's a massive improvement and we might actually be able to find stuff now.

Silkiefloof · 21/10/2023 19:11

Havoc Prosciutto would work well thanks. I'm not keen on mustard though prefer the French one to the English one. I am trying to cut calories atm as I seem to have put weight on with the Tamoxifen. So am on 1,200 calories a day and as much exercise as I can. First time in my life needed to diet though I have lost 3.3kgs in 3 weeks, not sure how as calorie counting should be 3 pounds down but I'll take it. I am on a 6 week break from Tamoxifen for bloods before I may move to Letrozide. I really hope its not going to just go back on when I start that.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/10/2023 19:23

Silkie, ahh I remember. Frustrating. My mum had appt with locum oncologist who suggested a switch from Letrazole to Tamoxifan. She's been on Letrazole since '19.
How are you feeling about the switch?

Had 5.5hrs sleep from 10:30pm-3:50am and stayed awake until 8:00am or so. Woke Havoc at 7:30, changed diaper, gave a bottle of milk then a confused Havoc cuddled in my arms and thankfully we both slept another 90 mins.
Cloudy, dark and damp here. Just finished a latte and am nibbling on strawberries and watching news.

Echobelly · 21/10/2023 19:26

Also, have booked brunch on a restaurant on a boat for me, DH and kids on my birthday in a few weeks.

Silkiefloof · 21/10/2023 19:53

It was me who suggested switching as Letrozole has a better success rate Havoc though am not too bothered either way as Letrozole seems to have more side effects. The Tamoxifen I just have issues with insomnia and fluid retention. I can always try letrozole and switch if don't get on with it. I have 6 weeks on nothing for them to do bloods.

Boat brunch sounds lovely Echobelly

MissConductUS · 21/10/2023 20:17

Silkie, when you first start losing weight it comes off quickly, as you're also reducing inflammation and water weight. MoG (mother of the groom), didn't invite her church. She and FoG both come from very big families, and on top of that, they wanted to invite almost three dozen family friends. Not all will accept, of course, but it was still really cheeky.

DS drove to Boston today. He'll hang out with friends today and see DD tomorrow when she's rowing at the Head of the Charles regatta. DS was accepted to work as a volunteer at the races.

DD went to a bridal shop near her uni this morning, found a dress she loved, and put down a deposit to order it, so that's the dress sorted. She FaceTimed me while trying it on. It's lovely and a bit less than we thought it would cost, so it's a win all around.

We're in Derbyshire, which has been hit quite badly by the floods, but we're very high in the Peak District, so never flood. Ifwe did I'd build an ark.

Have been trying to get back into running, after months of not going and before that 18 months of decreasing distance and speed. Went with DH this afternoon and managed 2.5 miles (slowly). Feel really good for it. Hope the scales start to budge soonGrin

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/10/2023 20:50

Silkie, fwiw my mum is doing very well on it w/o any side effects. Sees oncologist every 3mos. Normal appetite, sleeps fine, weight came back to normal after initial diagnosis and surgery, etc. Hope will be same for you. 🤞😊

Just watched an episode of Who is Erin Carter on Netflix. Loving it! Recommend. 👍

sproutsandparsnips · 21/10/2023 22:15

I think we have been quite lucky here, the weather has been wet at times but not horrific. To put it in context DS rugby training cancelled last week as pitch had standing water but went ahead this week ( albeit very wet).
Drove 1 1/2 hours this afternoon to watch our team play - beautiful scenery en route and good weather. Bac now just watched the England match - very exciting and picked up chips on way back for me and DS and his 2 friends. Listened to Harry Potter audio book on way back!
Miss if you don't have reception in hotel, where will it be? Are there venues just for weddings.
Silkie will DD have punting employment all through winter as well?
Mallards hope you feel better soon.
Havoc hope you get better night sleep tonight.

sproutsandparsnips · 21/10/2023 22:20

DS took photo en route!

Silkiefloof · 21/10/2023 22:26

Thanks MissC Glad your DD got her dress.

Well done Iwandered

Thanks Havoc

Yes DD can work there as long as she likes Sprouts you apply for shifts each week, its a zero hour contract but she gets every shift she wants and pay is very good (up to £300 a day in summer), best days are in summer. Though she did just tell me she'ld applied for a job in a cocktail bar / nightclub so she won't get wet 🤔but the pay rates are much lower there and she said she won't work there unless they give the highest pay rate. I'm hoping she won't because she needs to focus on studying now, she had 2 jobs last year, equivalent of full-time as well as her A levels, she's still got predicted of all A stars but she needs to do the work to get that.
