School dinner ladys wearing uniform in playground

I work at a local primary school where I know a few parents who are dinner ladys i keep noticing they wear their uniform when dropping their own kids off and then they go home and then come back at lunchtime. Do you feel this is appropriate. Im not sure whether to mention it to our head

You think they are showing off? For being a school dinner lady?

Fucking hell OP - at least you have given us a laugh today

I did wonder if ever Mumsnet would dry up as every thread topic has been covered but then this happens - I think Mumsnet can carry on for years.

This thread has made my day 😂

They have our logo school hoodies on and then its like a chef white type of uniform I just think is it showing off in the playground to other parents bringing them attention /questions along with it not being hygienic. As they prepare food and serve it

Stop being such a prat.

…..nope, no idea.
Why is this a problem exactly?
If they were wearing bondage gear and a strap on I’d understand but I’m sure there’s nothing controversial about a uniform

WandaWonder · 26/09/2023 11:42

Next the police will wear their uniform to buy a sandwich call the papers

autienotnaughty · 26/09/2023 11:42

When I worked in hotels. It was policy that kitchen staff changed into their whites at work to avoid contamination. Wait staff didn't. If you mean the kitchen staff then yes I agree

heatdeath · 26/09/2023 11:43

You think the dinner ladies are showing off?

Goodness. The hidden difficulties that mumsnet exposes.

MartinChuzzlewit · 26/09/2023 11:44

I know hospital staff can’t wear their uniform into work, they have to bring it in a bag and change, because it’s an infection prevention risk. I’m not sure this applies for food hygiene though?

Bananas1350 · 26/09/2023 11:44

Am I supposed to change outfits when I cook dinner then?

ClusterFukt · 26/09/2023 11:46

I’ve had a change of heart OP. I think you should definitely bring this to the attention of the Headteacher and state the reasons exactly as you have on the thread, literally word for word and then come back and let us know how you got on.

MyJetNowAirlines · 26/09/2023 11:48

Bananas1350 · 26/09/2023 11:44

Don’t be facetious. It’s pretty obvious that the food hygiene standards in a commercial kitchen are different to those in a domestic setting.

Did you REALLY not reread your first post on this thread and think “god I sound like an almighty fucking plank” before posting a second time on this thread?!

REALLY!?

‘Showing off’ to wear their work uniform to take their kids to school 😂😂😂😂😂😂 this has got to be a joke

Maxus · 26/09/2023 11:49

If the school had a problem with this they would have already spoken to them about it.

vodkaredbullgirl · 26/09/2023 11:52

We will have to wait till lunchtime, before the next installment of the post.

As a side note, I find lunch ladies (and the one lunch man I’ve met) lovely. Amazing at helping new children feel welcome and relaxed in the lunch hall, quite good at getting fussy eaters to try new things and (something I find astounding) can remember all the children by name”

This. Ours were bloody stars. Our string bean of a five year old just wouldn’t eat. Too busy. They devised a system and he got a golden ticket when he ate some lunch. He didn’t get anything for the golden ticket but was thrilled with the thing itself!

He’s 20 and 6ft 5 and strapping now. Thanks dinner people across the land 😁

Are you for real. You think they are showing off??!! You are being seriously petty and the only person who would think like this is you. The Head would tell you to sod off and stop being batshit or at the very least he would be thinking it.

I bet he groans inwardly everytime you approach him.

Wow what a horribly unwelcoming person you are. They are members of staff and are proud of their jobs. As they should be.

Tafaa · 26/09/2023 11:55

😂😂😂

FedUpMumof10YO · 26/09/2023 11:56

*ladies

Ridemeginger · 26/09/2023 11:57

The plural of lady is ladies not "ladys". I hope you don't teach.

Why would someone "show off" about a minimum wage job? Perhaps they are proud of their affiliation with the school. The dinner ladies at my kids' school usually start work straight after drop off, doing prep work, taking deliveries, doing admin and ordering etc. What makes you think they are going home?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 absolutely and no, she didn't she wrote an even more ridiculous (obnoxious) one. I think the description 'Tool" was created for the OP.
