@ThunderclapCloud
@petalpower
@autumnangel

@RunningKatie
@LateSummerLobelia
@Aria999
@Mumtobabyhavoc

and anyone else who would like to join us, whatever your daily tasks are.

I joined after procrastinating putting up some curtain tie backs and now I am flying through a massive decluttering exercise. (I need to tackle the loft next, but I may need to sit down (a lot) before I do that 😄).

Hope the tagging works, SoE.

@ThunderclapCloud sounds like you are off to a good start! Yes definitely re being so overwhelmed by the possible things to do that I end up not doing anything!

petalpower · 29/09/2023 09:07

Hope your mum continues to improve @ThunderclapCloud .
Ikea trip sounds a bit of a nightmare @Mumtobabyhavoc . I love ikea but can never face the journey there!
Hello everyone else. You are all so busy and productive!
Today is haircut day. It’s in our local
town so I combine the trip with other jobs. Posting a parcel, paying in a cheque from
my dad that the app can’t read, getting a key cut etc.

SingleThreadJoiner · 29/09/2023 12:19

Everyone's been so busy since I last stopped by! How wonderful to have time with horses and help with other animals @ThunderclapCloud , and happy Havoc going to the park!

Small victories over here between yesterday and today - booked the Christmas delivery slot, managed to get a stain out of H's jacket at the third (or fourth?!) attempt, handed over four pairs of pjs to a friend for her smaller D. Trying to sort out Christmas logistics with parents & PILs, across two countries, and school holidays - sure to get us all in the Christmas spirit 🙄

ThunderclapCloud · 29/09/2023 12:37

You have been busy @Aria999 ! I hope your sitter works out ok 😊

Argh Ikea/highway nightmare @Mumtobabyhavoc! I applaud your energy going to the park after all that! I've never been to Ikea. I may be the only person, ever, to claim this 😂 Our nearest one is 40 miles away, not that the distance stops anyone else I know.

ThunderclapCloud · 29/09/2023 12:47

@petalpower are you another who just has 'haircut' on a to do list with other chores? I keep mine short - always have - and hairdresser is a necessary evil! Takes 20 mins tops every six weeks, and she comes to my house! I actually love her, and hope she never moves or retires!
We have started contemplating Christmas too, @SingleThreadJoiner and although ours is slightly complicated re keeping people happy, we do only cover two countries - though many sets of inlaws between us.

Today I have thoroughly hoovered, and washed the kitchen floor. I have grand plans to clean the fridge today too!

Aria999 · 29/09/2023 13:37

@SingleThreadJoiner I have similar crazy re Christmas logistics! Mostly all sorted now but you have reminded me I have to find a couple of hotels for the drive between England and Scotland.

petalpower · 29/09/2023 17:19

No I enjoy my haircut @ThunderclapCloud - it’s quite a treat to sit quietly on my own! I have my colour done first so there’s a bit of sitting around and I make the most if it by picking up a sandwich from M and S and taking my kindle. The job bit is all the extra things I do whilst in town as parking is so expensive, I make the most of it and do as many jobs as I can.
Next week is quite quiet for me so I’ve written a big list of tasks I’d like to accomplish but tonight is rubbish tv on catch up, wine and pizza. Enjoy your evening everyone!

Peridot1 · 30/09/2023 08:33

Morning all!

what a busy bunch you all are! Lots of things getting done. I’m not going to name tag as I’ll be here all day!

I’m back from a fabulous relaxing week in Greece on my own. I read ten books! Started at the airport on the way over and finished one towards the end of the flight back yesterday. Also did some nice long walks, ate lovely food, drank nice wine and gained 2.5 pounds!

DS came back for the weekend which is lovely. He’s mainly back to see the dog. Oh and he’s brought his washing. So he will be learning how to do that this weekend as I’m not doing it all for him. I definitely made a rod for my own back by always doing it for him up to now.

Quite a lot of jobs to get done here. I’ve come back with a plan to wash all the windows inside which has needed to be done for ages. I also need to open them all and do the inside of the frames which are full of spiders and cobwebs. Might get DH to do that and I’ll follow behind and wash the windows.

I also want to sort out photos. I started sorting them in lockdown but didn’t really finish so have decided to get them all out again and use a spare bedroom to get them sorted over the next few months.

And I need to keep going on my wardrobe and clothes and random stuff in my room.

And put pictures up.

And sort the linen cupboard and get duvets washed and sorted for winter.

We also have quite a bit to do in the garden - plant veg plants we bought before I went away, plant up some new planters we had built around our new corner patio at the top of the garden - patio is a bit smaller than I’d have liked but it’s done now. Also need to buy some wooden planters with trellis and plant some climbing plants in those. And buy and plant some bulbs. And clear out pots and replant.

I also have some charity shop stuff to go which I’ll do next week.

And all the garden furniture needs to be put away for winter. Need to clear out the shed first.

I think I need a lie down now after listing all that lot!

petalpower · 30/09/2023 08:42

You sound as though you’ve fully recharged your batteries @Peridot1 and had a lovely trip. How lovely that your DS is coming home too. I need to do a bit of a garden sort out too. The butternut squash look as though they’re ready to be harvested and I need to pick some sloes ready for Christmas sloe gin. It’s a lovely bright day here but there was a definite nip in the air when I took Petaldog out earlier.
Have a lovely day everyone!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/09/2023 18:41

Sounds like a great trip, Peridot. I've done a few on my own, too, including Greece.
Ankles do take such a long time to heal, Petal. I sprained my ankle in Feb and it took at least 2 months to feel right (from going down a slide at playground!).

Am annoyed at closet organizer which was being quite difficult last night. New baseboards jut out from wall a bit more , so organizer needed new braces to attach to wall. Bought 2" braces but was unable to screw the screws into the wood as wood is too hard and I don't have a drill bit to make a starter hole. 🤬 So, can either buy 3" braces which should allow me to use existing holes, or buy a drill bit and use 2" braces. 🤔
After that struggle (about 45 mins) decided to move on to putting up 2nd shelf in Havoc's closet. Another, "ugh." Screws into stud were too large, got stuck and then stripped. Grr. 😡 Needed vice grip to twist out. Managed a few dings in nicely painted closet as well. 🤬Changed screws and got shelf up - for life.

Now have got some laundry in. 🫠

Peridot1 · 01/10/2023 07:48

@Mumtobabyhavoc - that all sounds really frustrating but I’m in awe of your DIY skills!

@petalpower - our neighbour brought over a butternut squash when I was away so I’m planning on making soup. I also managed to grow three large pumpkins so hoping they are edible! There is a lot of chopping and freezing pumpkin in my future! I have a recipe for a lovely pumpkin risotto that I love so will be making that a few times although DH isn’t as keen on it as me.

DS’s washing mountain is almost done. Of course I ended up doing most of it. Last load is in and I’ll be able to hang it outside in a bit.

Today’s jobs:

  • washing
  • fold yesterday’s washing
  • pack up a raincoat I ordered which is way too big so needs to go back
  • help DH with fitting a few more things into the skip which is being collected tomorrow
  • order the plants for my sleeper beds

Have a lovely Sunday all.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 01/10/2023 08:17

Morning all. @petalpower I hope your ankle is very soon mended. Thanks

welcome back @Peridot1 ! I also have alot of pumpkin here to deal with. I think roast pumpkin with cinnamon will feature today.

Yesterday i went overboard buying seasonal decorations (to go with my seasonal namechange!). Cute (and not tacky... really) halloween cushions etc. I am meant to declutter! But they are cute,

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

petalpower · 01/10/2023 09:46

I’m always impressed by your DIY skills @Mumtobabyhavoc !
@Peridot1 I’ve got a lovely recipe for a sage and butternut squash risotto. I think it may end up featuring in my meal planner quite soon.
How’s the school situation @RunningKatie ? I seem to remember you may have been looking at a different school. It’s rubbish as a parent when your child is unhappy.
Nice new seasonal name @OrangePumpkinLobelia !
I would have ended up doing my DS’s washing too @Peridot1 . I think if we had a skip I’d end up getting a bit over excited and throwing lots away but despite our building project I don’t think we’re getting one.
Thank you for the ankle recovery good wishes. I’ve been given some different exercises by the physio and they seem to have caused a bit of a flare up as they’re more challenging. Very annoying. I feel like an old woman.
Yesterday my husband amazed me by replacing the dodgy catch on the oven door and ordering a new fan for the bathroom. Both jobs that have needed doing for a while. Today I really must tackle the ironing but don’t intend to do much else.
Have a good day everyone!

SingleThreadJoiner · 01/10/2023 09:47

Good morning everyone! Gosh, so much to catch up on and so much activity! @Mumtobabyhavoc I am bowled over by your skills, I don't even understand half the words you mention 😆

Ah @Peridot1 photos....sigh. I bought some nice albums, printed lots of things out and then.....tumbleweed. It just needs a concerted stretch of time, doesn't it, and it just never seems to materialise 😥

Not much happening this weekend productivity-wise - mainly parenting. Took D to TWO playgrounds yesterday to burn off energy. Did a bit of (job)work. Today H & I are off to an event in London for most of the day, D will stay at home with the nanny - she knows her well but it's their longest stretch on their own yet (almost seven hours), hopefully nanny will survive!

Hoping to get into a better and more productive headspace as of tomorrow!

Aria999 · 01/10/2023 12:59

@Mumtobabyhavoc that sounds like my kind of DIY journey 🤣 hope you get the closet organizer sorted!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/10/2023 18:11

All I can do is laugh and shrug my shoulders at the mishaps. 😄
Have got bathroom mats in wash and have folded some laundry. It's too cool now to hang outside, so hung up on drying rack last night with window open a bit and a tower fan blowing at it overnight. 💡
Another gorgeous fall day here! Plan is to get another load of laundry in the wash, go to Home Depot, fix closet, sort Havoc's room and start washing clothes to go back into closet. Oh, and a quick trip to Costco. 😡
Hope everyone's Sunday has been good.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/10/2023 01:37

Bought a drill bit and larger 3" braces. Will try again with offending closet after dinner. 🤞
Also managed a Costco shop, so fridge is nice and full. (I'm quite excited to drill holes, though!)🤣🤣🤣

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/10/2023 04:09

It's not pretty, but I'll patch and paint the wall and when clothes are hung up it won't be noticed! 😁
Pre-drilled hole with new drill bit -easy as!!!! 👍👍👍

SpiritOfEdna · 02/10/2023 11:07

Morning.
Hectic weekend getting the house visitor ready - and it looks lovely - only to have to cancel visit as sibling tested +ve for Covid. I am feeling rough today so I guess I am next 😄Luckily work is not too busy as there is a national holiday in India so my team is unavailable. We also had to call out emergency gas supplier yesterday as the CO detector was going off, even after putting it out in the fresh air for ten minutes and bringing it back in it was going off again. So the gas was turned off and we are awaiting a gas engineer to come out and check boiler and gas fire. Also waiting for the carpet fitters to come and do the stairs. Sibling will stay out of the way and then walk spiritdoggo whilst workmen are here.
Today will just be watching the stair carpet go down and doing whatever the gas engineer wants me to do and then hopefully putting the heating on as it is freezing here today!
Have a good day, SoE

Aria999 · 02/10/2023 13:47

Looks like a win @Mumtobabyhavoc I hope you feel very smug!

That's scary about the gas @SpiritOfEdna hope it gets fixed.

petalpower · 02/10/2023 14:51

Bad news on the gas and Covid front @SpiritOfEdna . There seem to be a lot of people locally who’ve got Covid again.
I’ve had a super productive day so far so am very pleased with myself. Lots of fiddly things like refilling the printer ink which needed me to watch a YouTube video first because I haven’t done it before, printing lasting power of attorney forms for me and DH which we’ve been meaning to do for ages, replying to a few emails and doing some online admin. I won’t bore you with the rest!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/10/2023 18:07

Good morning all. 🌧️
Rainy day. Running late and need to get Havoc to gymnastics. Had a good sleep in, though!!!

Aria, yes, feeling quite adult now!
Spirit, sorry to hear about covid. I can definitely sympathize!!! You have a lot happening also!

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 03/10/2023 05:54

Morning all!

I am up and bouncing.

Over the weekend and yesterday I just managed the maintenance stuff- keeping things ticking over.

BUT.... I did buy these cute (cheap but cute) little do do planners from amazon. They come in packs of three. I bought them for the Dcs actually so they could have a To Do list for the morning as it is always a mad panic. But I had one left over so made one up for my kitchen. This is meant to be the daily maintenance stuff to keep the household running smoothly and my list says;

  1. Clean kitchen
  2. Tidy downstairs
  3. Kitty litter trays
  4. Bins out
  5. One load washing on
  6. Iron and hang yesterday's load
  7. Tidy upstairs and make beds
  8. water plants that need it
  9. Prepare dinner
  10. Daily Project

It was fun yesterday ticking these off with the little slider! The daily project ended up just being to dump a charity shop bag.

It worked really well on the DCs. They were up and ready in such good time before school that I ended up making them omelettes and croissants for breakfast!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Peridot1 · 03/10/2023 08:07

Morning all

cute planners @OrangePumpkinLobelia!

Impressed with your drill skills @Mumtobabyhavoc!

Nightmare about covid and gas issues @SpiritOfEdna. Covid is definitely quite rife again.

We need to do wills and things like power of attorney stuff too @petalpower. Must get on to thinking about it all.

A few things done yesterday but not much. Finished sorting DS’s washing and he is now gone back to Dublin. Flight delayed last night by about 3.5 hours though. He was not happy. Especially as I’d made sure he got to airport nice and early!

Did ESTA for upcoming US trip next month and booked accommodation in New York.

Washed the soap dispenser drawer in washing machine.

Today’s list:

  • PT session at 9
  • washing
  • dishwasher etc
  • vacuum
  • clear out fridge
  • menu plan for week and shopping list
  • pack up coat to return
  • clear rubbish and glasses from DS’s bedroom
  • move charity bags from spare bedroom to downstairs and get stuff from garage
Have a great day all.
petalpower · 03/10/2023 11:08

Those planners look great @OrangePumpkinLobelia ! Your DS sounds like mine @Peridot1 . Always lots of glasses left in his bedroom when he visits. How are you feeling @SpiritOfEdna ? Any developments on the covid or gas front?
Just waiting to go into aqua fit but have bagged up all the random bits of insulation to put in the black bin and washed petaldog’s harness before coming out. Picking up some winter bedding for the hanging basket on the way home as I drive past a nice garden centre.
Have a good day all!
