@petalpower
@autumnangel

@RunningKatie
@LateSummerLobelia
@Aria999
@Mumtobabyhavoc

and anyone else who would like to join us, whatever your daily tasks are.

I joined after procrastinating putting up some curtain tie backs and now I am flying through a massive decluttering exercise. (I need to tackle the loft next, but I may need to sit down (a lot) before I do that 😄).

Hope the tagging works, SoE.

Just a quick check-in...
Floors are done and spent last night back at home. Did tonnes of laundry, vacuumed washed floor in main areas; vacuumed and steam cleaned mattresses and made up beds.
Lots more to do including more painting and baseboard repair and painting, but little by little will get done. Also going to sort through all boxes again and purge and combine boxes. Sort my life, basically! 😁

Impressed by all the tasks and projects everyone is posting! 👍

Daily Project Round 4
ThunderclapCloud · 26/09/2023 20:42

Hi all! Unexpected things going on with mother's health, so not quite the relaxing start to retirement that I hoped for! But at least I'm not juggling.
Feeling quite stressed but enjoying reading what you've all been up to.
The house is looking better, some important phone calls have been made and DH and I have planned our first small weekend adventure so I've been a bit productive 😊

Mumtobabyhavoc · 26/09/2023 23:08

Thunder, hope your mum is ok. 💖

Had a cleaning blitz. Vacuumed living and dining areas and cleaned floors (behind couches and tv). Steam-cleaned wall behind tv. Steam cleaned and vacuumed backs of couches. Wiped base-boards. Am washing 2nd load of laundry.
Plan is to wash everything in linen closet today and determine what to keep and re-arrange a bedroom.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/09/2023 00:11

Oh, also vacuumed (thoroughly) two area rugs then ran the steam cleaner over them using just the floor attachment. They look quite good. Might not need to rent carpet shampooer. 💡
Used vinegar/water at 25% (regular white) vinegar.

Aria999 · 27/09/2023 02:12

@Mumtobabyhavoc you rock, please come to Pittsburgh and clean my couch!

@ThunderclapCloud hope your mum is ok

@petalpower that sounds a crazy day!

Today:

researched and partially booked our weekend away in November (this is our first attempt at leaving the kids overnight, as warm up for flying to the uk without them next year for a wedding) including making good progress on finding a sitter.

Made some progress on our annual budget for 23/24 year.

Had a long catch up with a friend

Rebooked car hire for Christmas

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/09/2023 03:29

Thanks, Aria. I'm doing a bit at a time and have almost washed all the towels/linens. Table napkins next but will do tomorrow as I hang them to dry so they are crisp and not wrinkly 'cause God knows I'm not ironing them. How are you feeling about going away w/o kids? Big step!
I managed a bit more organizing of one bedroom. Have two boxes of books to get rid of. 😄

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 27/09/2023 06:46

Morning all.

@ThunderclapCloud I hope your mum is okay. Thanks Best wishes. And marvellous about a weekend adventure!

Hi everyone! Loads of achievements @Aria999 and @Mumtobabyhavoc !

Not many things going on here but if I may indulge in a small boast.... DS1 achieved his 10 metre swimming badge!!!!! I cried. (This is totally outing if anyone knows me!). He has coordination issues to add to his many diagnoses and I have had him in swimming lessons off and on (with big gaps granted) for pretty much 10 years since he was 3. But nothing doing. Over the summer it started to click and then yep-- 10 metres. Not only that but... underwater.

🏊

I am so thrilled and so is he. 🏅

I am in a demotivated patch re housework so am focusing on keeping on top of things and this has been very successful. DH is doing both school runs today so I hope to sort out my study a bit.

Hope everyone has a brilliant day!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/09/2023 07:26

Orange, just heading to bed, but wanted to say Congrats on such a great achievement for your ds. 💖

SpiritOfEdna · 27/09/2023 13:59

@OrangePumpkinLobelia well done to ds @ThunderclapCloud hope everything OK with mum @Aria999 I need to do the same with spiritdoggo otherwise I'll never get on a plane again - starting in November with a day trip to see King Leah 😄 @autumnangel glad you found us, @SingleThreadJoiner - the thought of working elsewhere for the day is very appealing, although I break my working day up with bursts of task activity 😃@Mumtobabyhavoc you can visit Liverpool after Philly 😄 @petalpower hope you have some electricity going on.
Today

  • some storage boxes turned up from Amazon - not quite what I was expecting but I can use.
  • need to transfer the money from the 'penny a day' jar into gift vouchers/food vouchers for xmas otherwise I'll keep dipping into it for emergencies like tyres!
  • need to find something else to read. I intended to work my way through the Belinda Bauer's novels. but have lost a bit of interest I don't mind a preposterous plot device - but not in every book - so am stopping at the Exmoor Trilogy.
  • off to the football tonight so need to make sure phone is fully charged so I can shake my phone at a machine 😄

That's all for today, SoE
ps that posted before I could check I hadn't missed anyone - hopefully not 😄

Gosh, lots to catch up on! @Mumtobabyhavoc , welcome back to your home, and feeling tired just reading about all your great work!

@ThunderclapCloud , warm thoughts to you and your family - I hope it is a brief unexepected thing.

@OrangePumpkinLobelia ,absolutely fantastic news - such a great achievement. you must be bursting with pride and joy

Enjoy the football @SpiritOfEdna ⚽I shall be watching some on TV tonight! (not the Premiership though)

Working in the public library was very pleasant and refreshing actually - it was very quite and peaceful. To my slight surprise, I even achieved my task yesterday of sending off passport AND booking the half term club, so was feeling smug! Today went swimming and had long catch up with a friend, so feeling a bit behind with work.

Would like to achieve before end of day: listing D's buggy for sale; listing D's previous carseat for sale. It's such a faff though, isn't it, with photos to ake, measurements, details etc...

Aria999 · 27/09/2023 14:11

Massive congrats to your DS @OrangePumpkinLobelia that's awesome!

petalpower · 27/09/2023 14:55

Fantastic news @OrangePumpkinLobelia . Well done to your clever, determined son! I’m not surprised you’re bursting with pride.
Be back later - just waiting for physio appointment to check on my dodgy Achilles tendon.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 27/09/2023 14:59

Thanks everyone. Smile

I have taken photos of him with his certificate and sent it to grandparents and my best friend and his aunt. He is also bubbling over with pride. He is now saying that maybe swimming is his 'thing'. Grin

Aria999 · 27/09/2023 15:13

@Mumtobabyhavoc feeling slightly terrified tbh! But we don't want to drag them to the uk in June for just 2 nights of non kid friendly activity.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/09/2023 17:50

Aria, it makes sense. Take deep breaths, mama. You'll be fine. 💖

Doctor appt in a bit, so enjoying a latte before I need to get ready to pop out. Will resume washing items in linen closet and sort a few boxes when I get back. Will keep you posted on progress! This thread is really helping me stay the course. 😊

ThunderclapCloud · 27/09/2023 18:14

Just popping in to say thank you everyone. Mum is ok.
Huge congratulations to DS @OrangePumpkinLobelia what a star!!

petalpower · 28/09/2023 09:28

Sorry didn’t make it back yesterday. Good news that I’ve been signed off by the physio to carry on my dodgy ankle recovery myself with the exercises I’ve been given. Told to expect up to a year to get back to normal 😮
Today I’m meeting an old work friend for
lunch, doing the online supermarket shop after meal planning, tackling four baskets of ironing and going to my music activity tonight. DH has also announced he’s like me to go out to buy face masks as he’s cutting up insulation for the new building. Apparently the millions of covid medical
face masks we’ve got won’t do!

SpiritOfEdna · 28/09/2023 10:29

Today

  • gym session before work - DONE
  • 30 mins hula-hooping - DONE
  • wait for more storage boxes from Amazon - then I can organise all my sewing stuff
  • walk spiritdoggo
  • find a cash point that is not out of service within walking distance
  • get an online shop going
  • do a bit more sanding on my stool I've been working on
That will be it for today, have a good one, SoE

Kitchen chair used by DH to stand on whilst demolishing walls cleaned and put back in kitchen ✔️

SingleThreadJoiner · 28/09/2023 13:24

Great news @ThunderclapCloud !

Must be that time of the week, I did meal planning and online shop this morning as well 😄along with a very pleasant coffee with a friend post-school-drop-off!

More laundry. Always laundry. Haunted by laundry. (to be fair though, I'm in charge of laundry and in exchange my husband is in charge of tidying the kitchen & washing up in the evening, so it works out)

I think that's about it, apart from tiny sprints of tidying up loose items here and there!

ThunderclapCloud · 28/09/2023 15:10

Hello all! Beautiful day here and really starting to look like Autumn at last! I am batch cooking again. We tend to box it up and give some to mum too. And occasionally the kids. Adult kids with own homes, for any lurkers who might be led to believe I only feed my kids occasionally 😎
I need to menu plan as well and write shopping list for weekend. Dh is hell-bent on doing the supermarket shop still (the weirdo enjoys it!) but he's accepting of a list, as I'm doing most of the cooking.
I've been decompressing I think. Have not done much of note yet (so no need to worry about me making you look bad @Peridot1 😂)
But typically, being available means I've done some pet sitting/walking, and a bit more helping my friend with her horses while she was struggling with various things. But it has all been lovely.
I am doing an online seminar this afternoon called from trouble to transformation, which I'm looking forward to. Somebody I did some horse related stuff with a few years back. My beloved is going out to meet a friend to give me peace and quiet as I'm easily distracted!

None of that is a Daily Project, is it?

🤔

💡 I shall wash my shower curtain! I may even wash a kitchen window once the stew is in the oven 😇

Lovely to read all your projects and achievements as always. Lovely that these threads are still going 💕

ThunderclapCloud · 28/09/2023 18:58

Shower curtain washed and rehung ✅
Dinner on table and in tubs ✅
Seminar viewed ✅
Online course based around the seminar signed up for. 😳? Or ✅ ? Time will tell!

I have plans to continue early rising and to my course first thing. It's still easy at the moment, but I'll be struggling to crawl out of bed at 7 when DH 's alarm goes off if i dont watch myself. I'm a little over excited about it so I've set myself the talk of writing tomorrow's to-do list before bed tonight as if I don't, I'll be overwhelmed by the jobs that need doing and won't start at all (am fairly certain I'm not alone in this....)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/09/2023 19:07

Batch cooking sounds like a great idea right now. 😊 I'll need to start that again once home is in order.

Today's tasks: drop off books to thrift shop, re-attach closet organizer to closet and put up second shelf in other bedroom closet. Wash clothes and hang to dry so they're clean of construction dust before putting back in closet. 🤦‍♀️
Get Havoc outside for play as has been very patient with all the upheaval this last week.

Aria999 · 28/09/2023 21:24

Done today:

Repainted 2 walls of bathroom that were meant to be sand colored but had come out a violent mustard yellow. They are now a relaxing muddy gray, much better!

2 loads of laundry (excluding folding)

Tidied and cleaned bathroom including floor and changed towels

Failed to get the red squishy toy stain out of the vinyl floor in said bathroom (tried bleach soaking, magic scrubbers, going at it very energetically with a scrubbing brush...)

Hired sitter for overnight trips and arranged for her to come for two hours on Wednesday to get to know us

Off to get DS now, will catch up on reading all the posts later 😊

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/09/2023 01:31

Yea to the painting Aria! If the stain is possibly grease-based try using liquid dishwashing soap.
Took books and printer to charity shop. While unloading car a woman asked about the books and took them all! Yea!
Tried going to Ikea. Tried being the operative word. Missed exit and got stuck in the worst highway maze here. There is no way back on this particular highway and no easy way to take a different exit and turn around. Ended up making a round trip through another city to get back. Ikea another day, then.
Did get to park with Havoc on way home, though. 👍
Will try to get closet put together after dinner.
