@ThunderclapCloud
@petalpower
@autumnangel

@RunningKatie
@LateSummerLobelia
@Aria999
@Mumtobabyhavoc

and anyone else who would like to join us, whatever your daily tasks are.

I joined after procrastinating putting up some curtain tie backs and now I am flying through a massive decluttering exercise. (I need to tackle the loft next, but I may need to sit down (a lot) before I do that 😄).

Hope the tagging works, SoE.

Lovely sunny Saturday here! I’ve just had a supermarket delivery which I’ve put away and have had a very satisfying hour tidying up the detritus that has accumulated whist the house is quiet. DH is still in bed as is visiting DS, DD has gone to work so it’s just me and Petaldog. I’d describe our house as comfortable country style (definitely not immaculate and minimalist!) but I love it when everything is in the right place. DH on the other hand has left a pile of Christmas presents under a chair in the sitting room since he opened them on Christmas Day! Instead of tidying them up I’m just ignoring them and seeing how long it takes him to finally put them away.
Have a lovely day everyone.

WinterLobelia · 03/02/2024 14:34

Hi everyone.

That sounds like a nice start to your day @petalpower !

Not alot happening here. DH is still unwell but has taken over the kitchen to make marmalade. Hmm

I drove all over the place trying to find the required number of seville oranges for him to do so. Many many oranges.

I am about to pot up some bulbs and put them by the pathway to our front door.

Roast chicken with trimmings for dinner.

Hope everyone is well.

SingleThreadJoiner · 03/02/2024 16:20

Hello everyone! I must start by loudly announcing that I made it to the post office! Great celebrations and fanfare 😂I think I will be living off that high for the rest of the weekend...

@Mumtobabyhavoc very pleased relieved you are back home. It's been a hectic few weeks for you all 💜

@Aria999 is your D celebrating her birthday this weekend? I hope it is wonderful, and that the S is well enough to enjoy it! (and that the 'virtual' coffee on your schedule yesterday did not actually mean that no real coffee was involved 😮)

@FrostyFogg it sounds like you have a lovely extended family, what fun to be an honorary grandparent - lucky kiddos 😊

@petalpower I'm afraid I snorted laughing when I read about the presents still under the chair....and then realised that I'm not sure I ever finished unpacking all the things I brought back from Christmas travels so who am I to laugh 😆

and then I gasped at @WinterLobelia 's school run, that is such a big chunk of anyone's day...when I was in secondary school I was 1hr+ away from the school (depending on the buses and traffic) and I still remember how it felt 😓Incredibly grateful and lucky to be walking distance from schools where we are now.

I think the Post Office trip will remain my only achievement of the weekend, Thursday I was in the office all day, Friday the D was off school with a high fever and although my H and I took turns looking after her, it was just One Of Those Days. She's been fine today but staying at home to recover, and trying to catch up on bits of work where I can.

Also can you believe it, the toothpaste arrived and despite the order clearly stating the strawberry flavour, Boots sent me the mint one instead?! So now I have to trek over to a shop and make a fuss and get it exchanged or refunded...if I can find the energy. Or maybe not.

Happy weekend all

FrostyFogg · 03/02/2024 18:33

Hello everyone! Just checking in and I have enjoyed all the updates.
I have achieved a lot of things, but not much that was on the list. The cheque is still to be banked. I did get the pet medication though.
While I am waiting for dinner to cook I am sorting a pile of clutter (books, papers, glasses cases, a pair of shoes and a slipper sock (?) that has built up by my side of the bed. I shall put it all away, and find the othe sock I hope!
Some of the excess sprouts ended up on the compost heap 😳
Enjoy the rest of the weekend 💕

WinterLobelia · 04/02/2024 10:41

Morning all!

I definitely resonate with your post office capers @SingleThreadJoiner ! I hope that DD is feeling better.

Hope everyone is well and having a lovely weekend. My sprouts over Christmas ended up being mostly composted as well @FrostyFogg . I'm the only person who eats them and after a week or so I was no longer able to face them.

I'm about to head for Aldi. Was meant to go swimming with DCs but DS1 is headachey and a bit of a funny colour so we will take it easy.

My house project today was to spend 15 minutes sorting out the spare room that is a sort of ironing / junk room. I plan to devote 15 minutes a day to it until it is finished, no matter how long that takes.

I also did a mini garden project- just finishing off the bulb planting.

Now I want to meal plan for the week and plot a London trip over the half term.

have great days everyone!

TawnyT · 04/02/2024 17:15

Hello all! Had a busy day yesterday getting DDs hair cut in the morning (big adventure for a 2 year old!) And seeing friends in the afternoon.

Today I was fortunate enough to have an hour in the house on my own while DP took DD out for lunch. I managed to speed clean the kitchen and bathroom, finally put the sheets back on the spare bed, empty the bins, fold the washing, and hoover! Before making myself a lovely lunch to eat quietly on my own with no little toddler hands sneaking onto my plate 😅

We took a quick trip to the farm shop this afternoon for some veg (it has a pub and some donkeys so both DD and DP enjoyed themselves while I grabbed a coffee and the veg..)

Hope everyone's had an OK weekend.

How is DS @Aria999, having flu is so so draining!

Excellent work on the post office @SingleThreadJoiner! My cards are still unposted, I did attempt to cut out the photos to go in them last night, but the mini guillotine I have has broken and I couldn't find the scissors 🤷‍♀️

@WinterLobelia I do love to hear some appreciation for Northumberland, I would love to go back up there more. Definitely happy living where I am but nothing beats the beaches up that way!

Have a lovely evening all!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/02/2024 19:27

Very productive, Tawny👏I also need to take my toddler for a haircut. Have got something scheduled each day this week except Friday, so may have to wait til end of week.
Winter, how was dc today?

Havoc would not go to sleep last night at all and was up until I went to bed with baby at 12:30am. Is def having a bit of a struggle with adjusting to everything. At one point baby and toddler were both crying and needed diaper changes and milk. 🤦‍♀️
Managed to get back to sleep after nursing baby on/off 5:30-7:00am and slept until Havoc woke up just after 10am.
Have now got laundry on, Havoc fed, baby nursing and I've finished a latte. 👍

RunningKatie · 04/02/2024 20:09

Evening everyone! Chilling with the dc watching Taskmaster, they are drinking hot chocolate - it's slight bribery getting them in the same room as us!
I've just paid 2 bills and tried renewing a library book, sadly it's got another reservation on it so I can't renew it, however there are no fines on late books now so it's all a bit of a pointless exercise.
I actually went out on Friday night which was lovely, dinner and then the theatre. All very civilised.
Nearly half term again already, I need to get things booked in.

petalpower · 04/02/2024 20:36

Lovely relaxed Sunday here. A bit of a lie in whilst DH got up with Petaldog. Then DS and I visited auntie at the care home (not a great visit, fear she’s getting a chest infection) then back to catch up on The Apprentice and a lovely roast pork dinner. It was the last meal before DD goes off travelling and whilst DS was home (he’s gone home now) so it was extra special. Now relaxing in front of the the log burner with wine. Caught up with my brother over an issue with our dad and his care which has now been resolved.

Peridot1 · 05/02/2024 09:18

Morning all.

Seems like very productive weekends had by all.

Hope all poorly people and DCs are on the mend.

A quiet weekend here. I did some sorting for my trip next week. Washed some of my summer clothes. Just a quick freshen up really and managed to hang them up well so no ironing required! Result!

On Saturday DH and I did a bit of sorting in the garage to see if our treadmill still works. It does. It now needs a good clean. And the garage generally needs a really good sort out and clean. That’s a job for another time!

This week I’m mainly getting ready for my trip and getting some clearing and sorting done for the work on the house we are having done when I get back. It will involve being a bit of a building site in the living room and having to clear everything out of that room. And I need to start clearing out some things in DS’s room as we are having wardrobes built in there.

Today:

  • chase a returns package which seems to have vanished (done)
  • usual dishwasher/kitchen etc.
  • vacuum
  • put laundry away
  • gym
  • delete my info from my Fitbit so DH can have it
  • car insurance claim
  • finish tidying utility room
  • start DS’s room

Might just have another cuppa first!

have a great day all.

SpiritOfEdna · 05/02/2024 11:47

morning, I need to get back into a (ny old) groove with my tasks. So today:

  • one curtain is ready to sew, and I should have the second one ready by early evening, then they'll just need ironing
  • paint a mirror frame for the spare bedroom - it's all masked up to stop paint dripping onto the actual mirror
  • food planned for the week this morning; I am doing lots of exercise but the weight is being stubborn and not moving - neither are my measurements. Having said that (!) I am planning on baking an Olive Oil and Orange cake this week
  • Got a pile of stuff ready to go to the tip - which I think I'll go on Wednesday
  • get a pile of books for the community bookcase and another pile for recycling at the tip ready
  • need to put a load of washing on
  • walk the dog
that's all for now, have a good day all, SoE

WinterLobelia · 05/02/2024 12:12

Morning all.

Hope your aunt is okay @petalpower and a chest infection does not take it out of her.

Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc Dc all fine today and went to school after again testing negative for covid. Much to his annoyance! Although he was looking forward to discussing the Grammy Goddess Taylor Swift with his best friend.

I am not as productive as others today. But I did plant a small hebe bush that I hope will cover an ugly part of the garden. I'm about to do another 15 minutes declutter in the ironing / dumping of stuff room.

Thanks to everyone and hope you all have a wonderful day!

Aria999 · 05/02/2024 14:19

Careful about the library book @RunningKatie , not sure how it works in the uk but we also have no fines and after a while they decided I was never returning them and charged me about $100 for the replacement costs of 4 books plus admin fees!

Aria999 · 05/02/2024 14:28

Glad you got some sleep and a latte @Mumtobabyhavoc !

My kids have never been to a hairdresser I just do it myself. DH's too, I am the only person in the house who goes to the hairdresser!

I persuaded DS to try going back into school today but he's still pretty fatigued so I'm not sure he'll manage a full day.

I have So. Much. Work this week. Just had my blood tests done for annual checkup and heading back home to get on with it.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/02/2024 23:13

Aria, Winter glad dc are on the up 🤞
it's so awful when they're not well.

Had baby to GP for hospital discharge follow-up. Not doing much else today except a Costco run after dinner before closing for diapers. Didn't have room in the car to buy them last night when I went out for groceries: stroller in the trunk and two car seats in the back. Looks like I will be shopping 2x p/w now.
🤷‍♀️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/02/2024 23:15

Aria, and very impressed you cut hair! I wouldn't have the nerve, but I also know I would butcher it....🤣

TawnyT · 06/02/2024 08:17

@Aria999 I tried cutting DDs hair the first time round and it was not a good look for her 🙈

We all have a bit of a cold again, nothing terrible but all of us are run down. A bit annoying as it's a busy week at work and I have a presentation to do in the London office tomorrow followed by a team meal out and really I could just do with a day in bed. Getting a lemsip and and a coffee in my before starting work, hopefully it does the trick..

Yesterday I managed to keep relatively on top of the kitchen and general tidying, so for today..

Walk doggo at lunch
Pay gym membership
Get office clothes ironed for tomorrow
Finish presentation prep

Hope everyone has a good day

petalpower · 06/02/2024 08:52

Just back from a windy walk with Petaldog. Have been getting up early for the past couple of days as DD is on early shifts at work and I’ve been making her breakfast before she goes in - managed to fit in a couple of little jobs as a result of getting up half an hour earlier than usual! Plan for today:

  • aquafit class (fill up with diesel on the way)
  • take photos to a place that will scan and enlarge old photos. FIL wants a picture of where he grew up as a boy and we’ve got a small black and white photo that hopefully will enlarge clearly
  • pick up seed potatoes from the garden centre
  • take two pictures to the framers. I tried yesterday but the framer chap was out of the shop.
Have a good day everyone!
WinterLobelia · 06/02/2024 13:31

Afternoon all.

Hope you and the family pick up soon @TawnyT Not fun to be rundown especially if you have a busy week ahead. Thanks

💝to everyone.

I'm weary today. But I did manage to do my 15 minutes of decluttering and also cleared a junk spot in the garden of some broken pots. That's enough for today. I've given up on the thought of dinner so will take the Dcs through the McDonalds drive through on the way home from school and DH and I will have pasta with a pesto sauce from a jar. If I can be bothered I will crumble feta on the top and add olives. Or not.

Went to bed at 8 pm last night and caught up on some netflix. I think that is going to be tonight's plan as well.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

petalpower · 06/02/2024 13:44

Now sitting waiting for the picture framer chap who has apparently popped out for 10 minutes. Also had to wait to see the photo restorer man in the town I go to for aquafit and used that time to whizz to Boots and pick up the soap I like as we’ve run out and popped into Seasalt to get the special wash stuff to clean my waterproof coat as it has muddy paw prints on it from Petaldog. Garden centre had all the varieties I wanted of seed potatoes for me and our neighbour which was a result. Just need to drop these pictures with the framer and then I can go home and have a cup of tea! I feel as though I’ve been very productive this morning which is good.

Aria999 · 06/02/2024 14:23

Hope you catch the picture framer @petalpower ! Sounds like he pops out quite a lot!

I am at the doctors with DS as flu still lingering and school wanted a new sick note. He went in yesterday but was sent home after an hour and a half. His cough does sound alarming!

Still have a ton of work to get through this week and really feeling I need a break. Not sure how full time working parents stay sane. DH also super busy with work stuff at the moment, we went out together last night and we're looking at the calendar and we are only going to have 5 evenings together between now and 26 February.

Also need to return a dress I bought on amazon.

SingleThreadJoiner · 06/02/2024 16:49

Living vicariously through @petalpower and @SpiritOfEdna and everyone else's achievements! @Aria999 sorry to hear about poorly S - does the doctor have anything useful to say?

Yesterday was just workworkwork (+ one load of laundry). Today started with great mayhem as there was a neighbourhood-wide power cut before 9am and they initially told us it wouldn't be back before lunchtime. I took myself off to H's office as I needed internet and electricity for my meetings, as it happens it ended up being restored by 11, but I was well settled by that point 😄and had unexpected bonus of lunch together. It did mean I missed my stretch class though (which probably wouldn't have gone ahead anyway as the gym is next door so also likely without power).

So not much chance so far today of any useful household jobs! @Aria999 I most definitely am NOT feeling sane at this point, just hanging on til half term where I have some annual leave booked.

RunningKatie · 06/02/2024 21:10

Hope your ds feels better soon @Aria999
We gave dd too much cheese yesterday, much sickness before school, I felt awful sending her in but hopefully she's got it all out of her system now. And her muppety parents will realise too much cheese is a thing, poor girl.
Today I've paid for swimming lessons, ordered a leavers hoodie, done a food shop, been to book club - first time it's run in months, and done some handwashing.
I also started sorting a family railcard but need dh to stand still for a passport photo to buy it online.
Half term is next week for us, I have 2 days off, can't wait!

petalpower · 06/02/2024 22:40

Finally caught up with the picture framer - third go lucky!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/02/2024 00:01

Aria, it's so frustrating when sick notes are req'd - esp more than once. It burdens the medical sytem. 🤦‍♀️Hope ds feels better soon. 🤞
Katie, too much cheese? I'm lactose intolerant, but even for me with lactose- free cheese, too much causes "issues." Enough said. Hope dd has recovered.

Have got a load of new tea towels in the wash and a double-choc banana bread in the oven. Had last pp obgyn appt earlier, so besides making dinner, not much else will get done today. Baby and toddler are def on the up, as am I, and will be getting out more. Have got Havoc reg'd for gymnastics in April, but will try to get back to school next week. Have likely missed reg for spei g swim lessons, but should look into it...
