@petalpower
@autumnangel

@RunningKatie
@LateSummerLobelia
@Aria999
@Mumtobabyhavoc

and anyone else who would like to join us, whatever your daily tasks are.

I joined after procrastinating putting up some curtain tie backs and now I am flying through a massive decluttering exercise. (I need to tackle the loft next, but I may need to sit down (a lot) before I do that 😄).

Hope the tagging works, SoE.

@Mumtobabyhavoc hope you're both ok! Sounds like a very nice set of birthday ideas! I often have lovely plans for a day off which don't happen as I'm too disorganized and / or have house guilt.

@petalpower glad you're back home ok.

DS was home ill today, the family lurgy continues! Think I may need to get a second humidifier. How is chez plaguepit, @WinterLobelia ?

Done nothing today except work and about to go do some more ☹️

WinterLobelia · 31/01/2024 06:44

Morning all.

@Mumtobabyhavoc I hope so much that you and baby are okay and all is well. A relief you are in hospital and in the best possible hands but a terrible worry you need to be there. Thinking of you. xx❤

Thanks everyone. We are fine Chez plaguepit. Grin I like that name! Dcs are fine. I am wobbly but okay. DH is not as great but staying in bed today. But basically all on the up.

Thanks to all. Hope everyone is fine and all poorly loved ones soo better.

FrostyFogg · 31/01/2024 07:51

Belated Happy Birthday wishes @RunningKatie 🥂 🎂 🎈

@Mumtobabyhavoc my very best wishes to you and LO once again 💕

Peridot1 · 31/01/2024 08:44

@Mumtobabyhavoc - sorry to hear about baby and hospital admission. Hope all is well.

@RunningKatie - belated birthday wishes!

@WinterLobelia - hope you are all on the mend soon.

@Aria999 - hope DS is on the mend soon too.

@petalpower - glad you are home. Hope all is ok with your Dad.

I didn’t manage to post yesterday as was up and out early for a dental appointment and then haircut. Tried a new hairdresser and was quite pleased. Then was shattered when I got back and fell asleep on the sofa. So not much achieved here.

Today:

  • general tidy up for the cleaners
  • tidy DS’s bedroom so cleaners can clean it now he has gone
  • PT session
  • laundry
  • put laundry away
  • some admin bits to do
  • tidy spare room
Have a great day all.
FrostyFogg · 31/01/2024 08:56

Delighted to hear you're home @petalpower. I think you probably deserve a new dress!
New name change @WinterLobelia? Lobelia'splaguehouse? I'm* *glad to hear you are all mending.
Hugs to you @Aria999 The ill health seems never ending doesn't it? I hope you got the work finished and had a decent night's sleep.

@SpiritOfEdna it was dealing with bucket and mop (or not, in my case) that let to me getting a flat mop with a replaceable and washable head, and a spray attachment too. It had changed my life the state of my hard floors, and is much easier to store.

Today I must pick up pet medication, and get more cat litter. Bank the cheque that I didn't do yesterday. I need to thaw some leftover roast beef that was hastily shoved in the freezer. But before I do that, I must think about what I will do with it. My mum used to have a mincer and often made 'proper' cottage pie or rissoles. I've never had such a thing. Does anyone here have one? I usually do something with sliced cold meat or chop it small and have it with a stir fry.

I have some shoes that need cleaning.
Clear kitchen worktop and find alternative places for some things.
Decide if I want to go ahead with a free (funded) course on autism, and if I do, must fill in the forms. Not sure if I currently have brain space as there is much stuff filling my head at the moment. If I don't complete the course, I'll have to pay for it (rightly so) and Ive fallen into that trap before!

Must shower and breakfast first.
My best to you all xx

TawnyT · 31/01/2024 10:46

@Mumtobabyhavoc sorry to read about the hospital visit again, hope you're doing ok and baby is on the up. Totally relate to the shopping trip ALONE for me time, got to do that last Friday and found myself thinking 'oh what a treat!' then caught myself and thought I MUST sort out some actual me tine instead 🙈

Gym was a bust last night as hair appointment ran over. So I rebooked for this morning and managed to get a session in before work. Gym is always strength workouts for me - I book into a very small class so it's a bit like personal training but with a couple of other people.

I still need to post the letters to parents (on day 3 so I'm doing ok I think, letters are by the door but still need to add some photos to them so maybe I'll manage to post them by the end of the week...) glad I'm not the only one that takes a week to get letters/parcels out the door!

For today
-Kitchen worktops and hob need a thorough clean
-Walk doggo
-Put clean sheets back on spare bed (and make sure to put a throw on the bed so doggo doesn't get mud everywhere again..)

Hope everyone with various illnesses are on the mend @WinterLobelia @Aria999

Happy belated birthday @RunningKatie

Have a good day all!

WinterLobelia · 31/01/2024 13:36

Happy belated birthday @RunningKatie !

Hope everyone is going well. Hope you are okay @Mumtobabyhavoc

I am still wobbly but have slowly decluttered the sitting room. It looks really good IMO.

Have booked a tip run on the way to school as well.

But that is about all I can manage I think.

SingleThreadJoiner · 31/01/2024 21:37

Joining the chorus of well wishes for @Mumtobabyhavoc and baby...how upsetting to have to be back in hospital.

@WinterLobelia it sounds like you are maybe on the mend? don't overdo it, it catches people out that way!

@FrostyFogg you are quite right, I didn't make it to the post office yet, though partly because I was feeling quite blah yesterday and was taking it easy. Today was one meeting after another, and tomorrow is an in-the-office day (out at 7.45am, back....by dinner time? maybe? thank goodness for the babysitter!). So maybe Friday!

I've managed to do a few bits and pieces, two loads of laundry, ordering contact lenses online, updating grocery order, and buying some things from boots online as well (including one of the only two very specific toothpastes the D will agree to use at the moment, we have tried SO MANY aarrrggh). Oh and I have made a very pretty colour-coded to-do list for work of all the things that are due by mid Feb and it basically gave me a panic attack 😱

Joining the semi-old mums gang! I am almost 42 but there are quite a few other mums in my D's 'social circle' who are my age or older. It is very comforting. Of course there are also the ones who are 10+ years younger and it makes for odd conversations at times...

Have a good evening/night/end of the week all 💐

WinterLobelia · 01/02/2024 05:45

Thanks @SingleThreadJoiner you are right- I need to be careful. DH is quite unwell with it so i am doing the school run (Dcs negative and school said they must come in). It's a pretty solid amount of driving twice a day and possibly that ought to be my only aim today.

On the older mum gang. I was 37 when DS1 was born, so over 50 now. I'm on the upper end in the mum cohort at the DCs school I think. DH is a bit older so most of his friends already had later teens when our DCs were born.

I recognise pretty colour coded to do lists and the resulting panic attack @SingleThreadJoiner !

Hope all is well. Hope you are both home safely soon @Mumtobabyhavoc

Thanks to everyone

FrostyFogg · 01/02/2024 07:23

Morning all! @SingleThreadJoiner I was about to be all 🎉 for you being 'one of us' but then spotted that you're feeling blah and panicky so coffee and cake it is, instead 💐

@WinterLobelia best wishes to you and yours. I hope you can rest and relax between school runs, and that DH feels better very soon.

Ah @TawnyT you are indeed one of us with your cards 💕

Well wishes to everyone for all the worries, health scares and general stresses. Life can be such a handful sometimes!

A young mum here by today's standards. 24 when I had my first, and done and dusted by 30. I'm still in touch with step children from my first marriage and I am an honorary grandparent to 3. And one gorgeous toddler GNiece who is my brother's granddaughter.

I did not achieve anything on my list yesterday but ended up unexpectedly busy in other ways. Cancelled my interest in the autism course as I am so unlikely to commit to it.

Currently maintaining the status quo here with general chores, but things still seem 'not quite finished'. I need to become more accepting of life just being like that as it's starting to stress me out, which isn't helpful.

So I am meeting a friend for a long windy walk on the downs with her dogs today, as she's got stuff going on too, and we plan to blow it all away! And then I will get back on it at home.

TawnyT · 01/02/2024 08:13

Morning. On the train to London bright and early for a day in the office. I try to do them as little as possible as it's a 2 hour commute. Will use my train time to carry on clearing the stuff on my phone - still getting a message to tell me there's no more storage space so I must cull all the photos and upload to the cloud.

Also today I must call our home insurance provider, realised yesterday that I never did call them to update them with our new house details when we moved OVER A YEAR AGO 🙈😬

I guess I probably fall I'm the older mums bracket, 33 when I had DD and TTC now at 35. Haven't noticed it much yet - perhaps reflective of the rising average age to have kids? Or the area I live just has more older mums (totally plausible as I live I quite an 'affluent' village with a much older than average population) but also was the first of all my friends and close family to have kids so I'm not generally older than the other mums I know...

I have thought about how different my relationship with my teen daughter will be compared with me and my own mum. My mum was 35 when I was 16 so it'll be very different for me!

Hope your walk is lovely @FrostyFogg love a good windy walk for blowing the troubles away, fingers crossed you feel refreshed afterwards!

How was the school run @WinterLobelia hopefully manageable?

@SingleThreadJoiner I feel you on the to do list panic 😅

@Mumtobabyhavoc Hope you and baby are managing ok today 💐

Have a good day all!

TawnyT · 01/02/2024 08:17

Also - I don't know if any of you are from the north east of England, but I just read back over my post and realised I called my mother, Mum, instead of Mam. She'd be so disappointed and its very clear that I've been living in the south for too long 😂

FrostyFogg · 01/02/2024 08:33

Have a good day in London @TawnyT I believe the average age for a woman to have her first child is 32, in the UK. There are still a lot of teenage mums round my way (a not so affluent area) My childhood best friend had hers at 46 though. Another at 39 - and I'm forever soothing her regarding her teenager's antics, as I've been through that and am out the other side!

I really enjoyed watching Vera on TV with the gorgeous accents...what would your mam think, hmm? I'm all RP down here in the south!

Peridot1 · 01/02/2024 08:51

Lots to catch up on this morning!

@WinterLobelia - definitely take it easy. The tiredness hung around for us for ages. In fact DH is still moaning about being tired.

I was 37 too when DS was born. And he will be 23 this year. Which means I will be 60. Not happy about that. At all. But I suppose it’s better than the alternative!

I think I overdid it at the gym yesterday so was in agony last night. Hot bath didn’t help much. Thought I wouldn’t be able to walk this morning but I seem ok so far.

Usual chores today of dishwasher/kitchen/laundry/vacuuming. Also might head to our nearest M&S as I need another sports bra. And need to strip DS’s bed and wash his bedding.

I need to get back to the get one extra job done each day so I think today’s will be to tidy a corner of the utility room which is full of random clutter and is driving me mad.

Have a good day all.

WinterLobelia · 01/02/2024 14:58

Afternoon.

Ouch @Peridot1 ! Is it your back or foot you hurt? I hope you are okay and can rest up today and soon get better.

Hope also you had a great walk @FrostyFogg

Thanks @TawnyT - the school run is quite wearying at the best of times. It's quite a long way away- school chosen because it meets Ds1s needs very well, but it's a heck of a drive. 40 minutes each way (done twice a day!)

I am resting up, tested negative today but am tired. DH is very wobbly indeed and grey. I have mainly done things I can do while sitting on my sofa binge-watching netflix. Sorting medical and vet appointments mainly.

Hope everyone has a lovely afternoon and evening. Thanks

Aria999 · 01/02/2024 17:50

@SingleThreadJoiner ah yes, the battle of the acceptable toothpaste. The only one DS would use, decided to change the recipe last year (it burns! It burns!) . Fortunately he has now grudgingly decided the one his sister uses is ok.

RunningKatie · 01/02/2024 18:10

Older mum here too, dc1 at 36, dc2 at 37. Now turning the big 5-0 next year which is scary.
I work with people who weren't even born when I went to University! Luckily they are (and I) are all lovely and it doesn't matter.
Office day tomorrow, then out to the theatre for a birthday treat.
Any news on baby Havoc? I've scrolled up but can't see.
My core is absolutely shot from PT on Tues @Peridot1, you have my sympathies, hope the aches and pains fade soon.
Off to walk ddog, he's asleep so I don't think he's that bothered but will be when we move!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/02/2024 07:54

Happy to report baby was discharged from hospital today (evening in UK time).
Baby is able to breathe and maintain oxygen saturation without supportive oxygen and other criteria met. It's good to be home. 🥰
🩷🩷Thanks for the support and kind thoughts everyone. 🩷🩷

TawnyT · 02/02/2024 08:35

Good news @Mumtobabyhavoc Hope you're doing ok yourself as well - what a stressful time for you too.

Yes @FrostyFogg my family all have that lovely Northumberland accent, they're from the old pit towns up that way so it's a very strong accent and they all think I sound rather posh after living down south for a decade.

And it appears I was bang on average agewise - probably why I haven't noticed much of a difference either way yet!

Hope you and DH are faring better today @WinterLobelia

It's my day off with DD today and we're just about to leave for soft play. Left the house in a disaster state so only jobs this afternoon are to return order to the house!

Have a good day all

Peridot1 · 02/02/2024 09:52

Morning all.

Great news @Mumtobabyhavoc. Fingers crossed baby is ok now.

@WinterLobelia - I think I pulled my inner thigh. And a bit higher if I’m honest! 😂 Aches in very odd places! Still painful today so resting again.

I thought exercise was supposed to be good for us @RunningKatie! The aches and pains are a definite negative.

Good luck at soft play @TawnyT.

I was supposed to do a couch to 5k run yesterday or today but not attempting that just yet. Signed up to do a step challenge for February at the gym too and my Fitbit decided to be very uncooperative so after trying to sort it for about three hours on an off yesterday I have ordered myself an Apple Watch. And of course my Fitbit decided to sort itself out overnight…..

Anyway. Jobs. Didn’t do some things on my list yesterday but did do a few others. So not too bad.

Today:

Usual laundry/kitchen/vaccum.
Marks & Spencer trip
Emails to joiner confirming drawings etc.
Ds’s bed
Move my summer clothes to spare room to sort

Have a great day all.

petalpower · 02/02/2024 11:07

Great news that you and baby are home @Mumtobabyhavoc . I’ve been thinking of you and hoping that you were both doing well.
Today I’m officially on mum taxi duty. DD and I are having a jobs day. We’ve been to the hospital for a cardiologist appointment, I’ve picked up a click and collect dress from M and S, we’ve sorted out an international driving licence for DD (and created a massive queue in the post office as it took ages) and I'm now sat in the hairdressers whilst DD has a cut and blow dry. Lovely to spend a bit of time with her before she goes off travelling.

Aria999 · 02/02/2024 11:51

That's a relief @Mumtobabyhavoc !

Aria999 · 02/02/2024 12:01

Aww @petalpower you are a kind mum! When does dd head out on her travels?

Nice to know I am not the only older mum in the group @WinterLobelia @SingleThreadJoiner @RunningKatie @Peridot1

DS has flu (b). I took him to the doctors to get a sick note for school and they did a test. They offered him theraflu but apparently it's not all that effective and it has side effects so he didn't want to (wisely I think). Hopefully he can return to school today but will need to see how he is when he wakes up.

Today I have a virtual coffee with my mentor, a virtual appointment about DS behavioral stuff, some work to do and decorating DD birthday cake (made it last night during bedtime).

WinterLobelia · 02/02/2024 12:57

Afternoon everyone.

Such great news you are home again @Mumtobabyhavoc and I hope so much baby is well and goes from strength to strength.

Hope your DS recovers from flu @Aria999 ! I've only had proper flu once in my life and it is seared on my brain. (I lost the hearing in one ear actually and never got it back properly. )

Hope everyone is well. Ouch indeed @Peridot1 ! Do rest up and take it easy. It sounds very painful.

I also was a bit of a mum's taxi today. Dropped Dcs off at school. Went to tesco. Picked up DS1 again to take to a medication review. Back to school. Back home again and then i leave in a couple of hours again for the afternoon school run. DH is very much not up to driving. Hope the cardiology appointment went well @petalpower

@TawnyT Northumberland is my very favourite part of the UK. We spent a couple of easter holidays in Rothbury and I just loved it. We live down South and are happy here but I want to spend more time up there. Lindisfarne in particular just bowled me over.

I'm sitting now until school run time but I did clean out the drawers in the downstairs bathroom. That was very overdue. Hopefully my energy will come back soon but I am very pleased I am now covid negative so i can at least get back to things and do what I need to do.

Hope everyone has a great day and a WONDERFUL weekend!

petalpower · 02/02/2024 13:37

Thank you @Aria999 , I try my best! DD goes in just under three weeks. She’ll be away for several months depending how long the money lasts for!
Cardiology was ok thank you @WinterLobelia . It just confirmed the start of a heart condition for DD that I also have. No impact on her travelling though and all very early stage.
I’m now planning an exciting afternoon of ironing before heading out to the ballet this evening. The ironing pile is threatening to take over the utility room so I think the time has come!
