Could do with a laugh at the moment, so I'm wondering what are people's favourite funny lines from a sitcom or film? Mine is from Victoria Wood's Dinnerladies : "Tony Blair. Stick two poems up in a bus shelter and call it a university! ". Cracks me up every time

Another one from dinnerladies -

Everywhere in Scotland is spelled Ecclefechan but pronounced Kirkcudbright!

A scene from Friends episode the one with the cop.
Ross moving the couch up the stairs shouting out "PIVOT" always makes me laugh when I watch that episode.

Am grateful for this thread pushing me to start rewatching Frasier all the way through.

Frasier: "I would shave my head for you."
Niles: "A gesture which becomes less significant with every passing year."

Grin

Also glad to see LoG getting some love here!

Grin The writing in Frasier is just exquisite.

Would you recommend Brassic? I love Motherland.

dinnerladies again - Jane - ‘Bren, can you spread ‘em for Tony’ 😂

Love it

another Jane classic

Jane: Bren?
Bren: 12 rounds of white?
Jane: No brown we’re on a detox! Stayed the night at Tony’s did you?
Bren: Yeah, why?
Jane: I’m not being funny BUT, did you get it on?
Bren: Did we get what on?
Jane: You know did you actually get down and…do it?
Bren: No!
Jane: YES! I knew it! 3 days to my fifty quid! Stayed the night, and didn’t do it!!! How near and yet so flippin’ far eh?

Love this one 😂😂

This is a Victoria Wood classic too! Love it, she did this in one of her standup shows too

DD and I pepper our conversations with quotes from dinnerladies , League of Gents, the odd Monty Python, Still Game .

DH rolls his eyes .Grin

My sister and I regularly quote dinnerladies to each other. It’s one of the shows I can watch over and over and over again!!

Does anyone else listen to Fags, Mags & Bags on BBC Sounds? Set in a Scottish/Asian Corner shop. If you love Still Game and dinnerladies it's mandatory.

One of my favourite lines is from the Catholic Bishop character.

"Priests don't have sex? Tell that to my two teenage kids in Country Tyrone. They're always giving me a terrible time on Twitter about it."

Or another one from Mrs. Biggs: "You can't cancel a Meatloaf concert by text. No emoji on earth can prepare you for THAT BOMBSHELL."

I agree, pretty much every line in Frasier and Two Doors Down is pure joy - sadly the Two Doors Down creator Simon Carlyle died last month - brilliant young writer...

One of my all time favourites is from Phoenix Nights - The Pub Quiz episode where Kenny and team got Qu. 25 wrong. The correct answer was 'The Shroud of Turin' - they wrote 'Lisa Stansfield'...

So many classics from this one episode

young Kenny etc showing their arm covered in random trivia “what are those?”

YK: answers…

“what are the questions?”

Take my breath away plays…

Max and Paddy “….as you turn to me and say…w….walking on the moon!”

Max: Walking on the moon get it down!!

Max and paddy’s road to nowhere is hilarious especially the outtakes! When they are in prison with a cliff lookie like

scene
cliff: anyone for tennis?

Paddy/ ”I told you…we’ve got no balls cliff”

but in the outtakes he says

”I told you we’ve got no balls tony!”

to which the reply is “tony? Who’s fuckin Tony!”

and another max and paddy classic from phoenix nights

“they found him in a wheelie bin, two snooker balls for eyes!”

@Comtesse enjoy. I was 12 when this first aired and as a 36 year old I still love watching it, and watched it from the beginning as it aired. Another thing that makes it extra special for me is knowing the area in which it was filmed very well too!

I was heartbroken when Victoria Wood died! Love her ‘at it again’ stand up too which is also worth a watch, as it’s fantastic! Would have loved to have been old enough to see one of her stand ups live but sadly not to be!
