Whether it’s personal or well known, which unsolved case makes your brain sound like dial up?

It gives me the creeps thinking about. Madeline McCann doesn’t bear thinking about that poor little girl.

@CaveMum

Spontaneous human combustion doesn’t exist. It’s something called “the wick effect” and is usually started by a cigarette, open fire, etc.

How come nothing else in the room is burnt then? Just the body, and the chair/couch it's sitting on? Carpet, curtains, etc, all virtually untouched. Shock

HolyHellaciousHeck · 02/09/2023 21:14

These poor boys. They were written off, as a lot of working class kids were then, as 'streetwise' runaways. By the time the police pulled their finger out, the trail was completely cold. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Patrick_Warren_and_David_Spencer

Riapia · Today 19:16
April Fabb 13 cycling to see her sister. She was seen by several people shortly before she disappeared. Her bike was found in a field at the side of the road.
disappeared afternoon April 8th
1969.

This sounds very like the Genette Tate disappearance although I think she was younger. They think it was Robert Black but we’ll never know for sure.

Lots of very sad cases we will never know the answers too. Dreadful for the family involved.

Absolutely, the Elisa Lam case is one of the creepiest mysteries I’ve ever heard about. Apparently a disease broke out around the same time right where the hotel she was found dead in is, and it’s called called Lam Elisa 😳😳 that lift video makes me shiver to think about

Yep. I saw that documentary, and it gave me the collywobbles. SO CREEPY! The Cecil Hotel where it happened had form for creepy ass things happening apparently... And an unusually high amount of deaths. 😱

BlueBlubbaWhale · 02/09/2023 21:16

Madeline McCann
Noah donohie - for some reason I feel like there's some sort of cover up
Vicki hall - local to me and never solved

Gilmorehill · 02/09/2023 21:18

Madeline McCann and the little boy who went missing in Greece called Ben (possibly Needham?). I feel bad for not remembering his family name.

Dryadia · 02/09/2023 21:20

ThePutney Pusher.

I believe they still have no idea who the jogger was, pure chance she was not killed. At the time I thought someone would recognise him in the CCTV and there would be an arrest and court case. But 6 years later still unknown.

Gahhhhereheisagain · 02/09/2023 21:21

Asha and the Dutch girls in the Colombian mountains. I think it was almost certainly an accident but that doesn't make it less sad.

mumda · 02/09/2023 21:21

Estate Agent: Suzy Lamplugh.

Not true. There was an outbreak of tuberculosis among the homeless population in LA (which is significant in number). The test for tuberculosis is called the LAM-ELISA, and it's been around for a very long time - since before Elisa Lam's birth.

Her death is incredibly tragic and has some unanswered questions, but the TB test acronym isn't really one of them.

BeverleyMacker · 02/09/2023 21:25

Ben Needham

The little British girl that went missing in Germany.

That black and white picture in the 80s of a foot in a slipper after apparent human combustion gave me nightmares :(

A school friends Dad found Vicky Halls body... They are trying to link that to Steve Wright now.

Does anyone watch the missing 411 docs where people vanish in American National Parks?

The death of Noah Donohoe.💙

Yes, me too. I think of him a lot, even more so now my son is that age. Poor, poor boy and his lovely mum.

Childhoodmemories · 02/09/2023 21:31

Ben Needham
The boy in America whose body was found in the 50s and he's never been given back his name

Soupsetscared · 02/09/2023 21:34

It's not a well known case.
Dm's friend Betty lived in Scotland. Mum was staying with her.
Betty's son Dylan came to say hello stayed for a couple of hours.
According to mum and Betty he was happy. Looking forward to the birth
of his child. Left at 4pm, police came at 5ish to say Dylan had throw himself from a bridge.
No money worries, no relationship problems, his job was safe.

And Elisa Lam isn't an unsolved mystery. There's a full Netflix documentary on it. She had bipolar, stopped taking her medication and apparently in her psychotic state climbed into the water tower to hide. Tragic and sad but not a mystery.

HolyHellaciousHeck · 02/09/2023 21:36

He was identified this year. His name was Joseph.

HolyHellaciousHeck · 02/09/2023 21:37

That's to the post about the 'boy in the box' in 50s America.

I am pleased to read that. Poor soul.

RainyDuvetDay · 02/09/2023 21:37

One that I find incredibly sad is the 2007 disappearance of 14 year old Andrew Gosden.

Andrew withdrew £200 from an ATM and then caught a train from Doncaster to London King's Cross station. He was caught on CCTV exiting the station and that was the last known sighting of him.

There have been a lot of theories about his disappearance but unfortunately he has never been found and police are still unclear about why he travelled to London that day.
