Whether it’s personal or well known, which unsolved case makes your brain sound like dial up?

I watched the Unsolved Mysteries series on Netflix and the first episode of season 1 still has me absolutely baffled (Rey Rivera) - Mystery on the Rooftop. I just really hope one day it's solved as it's such an odd one

Amaya2 · 02/09/2023 19:40

Noah Donohue - terrifying that this case is still not solved.

@UlezSchmulez

There was DNA run recently and a man and women were taken in for questioning. The locals have the story that they were the babys parents. They're married with other children now. It was the mothers father who did it because they were young and unmarried at the time. He was a guard apparently.

HolyHellaciousHeck · 02/09/2023 19:43

Was that in Delamere forest? I remember that. Happened in the late 90s?

jellytots18 · 02/09/2023 19:47

Deborah Linsley

She was murdered in a train compartment in the middle of the day. Whoever did it would have been covered in blood at a busy London station but the killer has never been found.

Her father, the guard, was already dead before the baby was murdered.

Jennifer fairgate this was on unsolved mysteries on Netflix and just completely confusing . They found that she had been shot thought it was suicide but when they did investigation they said no way she shot herself she had been murdered . Couldn’t find anyone else’s fingerprints , checked cctv no one else went in the room . They found out that Jennifer fairgate didn’t exist they even took her body for dna testing etc checked her dental records , they have no idea who she was, they checked all her clothes and all labels had been cut out . They had a female body and no idea who she was .

Tatslookawful · 02/09/2023 19:53

@Chocolatesandroses you can’t because of permission/ethics but if you could upload DNA of most to AncestryDNA all could be identified.

livinglifetothefull · 02/09/2023 19:55

Baby S 😢she was found at a recycling centre .

Toffeesgirl · 02/09/2023 19:57

The murder of Deborah Linsley on a train up to Victoria. I used to travel the same route - actually, I still do and everytime I go through the tunnel I think of her and say a quiet RIP.

That wasn't far from me. The company paid for her funeral. She's buried in the town where I used to live.
Absolutely heartbreaking...

Genette Tate - although Robert Black was a suspect the case has never been solved.

The murder of Dawn Shields. She was only 19, was prostituted and strangled to death.
I know who her murderer is, quite a few people do/ did. People were too scared at the time to say anything so sadly Dawn will probably never get justice now.

I had heard of the case but not the background. How sad. Very similar to that of Fiona Iverson. Her mum also hit brick walls with police/SS. She was killed in a car park in Doncaster. The police did, at least, catch her murderer.

Some US cases have definitely been solved by doing something similar to this. I can’t remember the exact cases but at least two of the Crime Weekly podcast cases have seen family members of murderers found this way.

Ambertonix · 02/09/2023 19:59

Lars Mittank and Maura Murray are two of the most talked about on youtube. I would love for those to be solved.

NoHunsHereHun · 02/09/2023 20:00

The Putney Bridge jogger. He didn’t kill this woman, but what else has he done - before, and since? There’s a theory about him being an off duty police officer apparently and the investigation closed in 2018. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-44639208

Jogger

Putney Bridge jogger assault investigation closed

Police remain baffled as to the identity of a jogger who pushed a woman into the path of a London bus.

You’re right, but not directly & initially to AncestryDNA which has the biggest database, 25 mil plus.

Karen Hales who was murdered in Ipswich. Her parents found her body in the kitchen. She had been stabbed with one of her kitchen knives and set alight and her daughter was there too.. I know some of her family. It's very sad.
An aside of that is that ds2s link social services family included an ex senior police officer who worked on the case. His wife told me that he came home from being at Karen's house got their knife block and threw it in the bin. The knives went in the drawers and they never bought another one.

Claudia Lawrence
She lived near a member of my family-she had to walk past his flat up past the house ud moved out of a week earlier, past my parents and vanished

Lots of people have been arrested but got nowhere

I used to drink in the nags head as a teenager-its very close to home-how dose someone just vanish?

Her poor family-not knowing

My ex

It was normal to say something like 'see you tuesday' and not see him for 18 months-hed Bob back up and life would go on

Anyway,he was round my house about 9 years ago to see our dc-had a cuppa, promised he'd send some stickers to dc and said goodbye-nothing unusual/acting like he was going to vanish

He left, saying he was going to his mums house, got to the end of our street, turned the corner and just vanished

His family have put up a few half hearted appeals up saying they've not seen him for over 13 years (so someone's either lying or have their dates wrong)

It's just odd to think we waved him off, watched him get to the end of our street-never to be seen again

Part of me would love to know what happened to him-for my dc-they don't know what's happened to dad,and that's not fair to them

I can't answer honestly when they ask

jenbj · 02/09/2023 20:12

The family who were murdered in the French alps.
Trevor Deeley in Dublin.
And poor Madeline McCann

Snowcloud92 · 02/09/2023 20:13

Many of the ones mentioned in the thread. However, one which sticks out for me are the The Annecy shootings, also known as the French Alps shootings or the Chevaline killings, were the deaths on 5 September 2012 of three members of a British family and a French citizen on the Route Forestière Domaniale de la Combe d'Ire near Chevaline, Haute-Savoie, France, near the southern end of Lake Annecy. All of them were shot execution style and the child was being hidden in the footwell of the front passenger seat.

I feel like it must be a professional killing with the cyclist who was on the same route also being killed but why? who would want them dead? and were the family the target or was it the cyclist and they witnessed it. So many questions.

The case of Elisa Lam who was found dead in a water tank on a ship always freaked me out as well, especially the footage of her in the lift running from something 😳 so scary

On the roof of a hotel. We watched this on Netflix. It also ties in with all the horrific stuff that has happened at the Hotel Cecil. Same hotel.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 02/09/2023 20:15

Jeanette Tate.

I remember being at Butlins having a great time when I was 9 and then seeing her picture all over the paper the next morning. I was on my way to go swimming and remember thinking that she will never go swimming again. Every now and then I think about her.

The Death of Elisa Lam who was found on the top of a hotel inside a water tank. The case was considered to be an accidental drowning.
