Whether it’s personal or well known, which unsolved case makes your brain sound like dial up?

Lee Boxall
Andrew Gosden

I can’t help but think of pedophile rings being involved in their disappearances. Truly heartbreaking.

I was under the impression they'd figured out what happened- the pilot caused it all deliberately.?

You should watch the Netflix documentary about MH370. The families certainly don’t believe the story that the pilot did it, there is evidence to the contrary. This is a mystery that sticks with me for sure.

TotalOverhaul · 02/09/2023 21:39

The Al Hilli murders at Annecy. Can't believe they were random.

Andrew Gosden. He chose to leave, which has always made me hope he;s still alive somewhere.

I thought Ben Needham's case had been resolved. Tragic story.

One that I find incredibly sad is the 2007 disappearance of 14 year old Andrew Gosden.

Andrew withdrew £200 from an ATM and then caught a train from Doncaster to London King's Cross station. He was caught on CCTV exiting the station and that was the last known sighting of him.

There have been a lot of theories about his disappearance but unfortunately he has never been found and police are still unclear about why he travelled to London that day.

He only bought a one way train ticket too which was very strange...

The Shelley Morgan murder young mum not found for months still unsolved, got to be 35/40 years ago. She lived on our road.

Did you read about a recent development? They found local photos on a calendar that they believe may have been taken by her (missing) camera, or something like that.

The thing that haunts me about his case is that the ticket officer told him the price of a return was almost the same as a single but he chose a single anyway, so he definitely planned to leave home for good.
The family made out there was no logical reason but it sounded as though he was being badly bullied at school.

Is it meant to be one of men who drank in the nags and is in a relationship with her friend?

I fell down a Google hole reading about the case, that group of ‘friends’ defo know what happened, it’s sickening!

Would also love closure for Ben Needhams and Andrew Gormans families and selfishly the Madeline McCann and Jon Bennett cases.

Yes she said there's a group of people she drank with in the pub that definitely know more than they've let on.

She also said there's a local rumour that she (or possibly her dad?) were involved in some way with a traveller family and some believe they're responsible, and the police didn't search their nearby site.

I agree with the PP who said it freaks them out knowing that in most of these cases, someone knows the truth. And they walk among us, living normal lives.

What happened to Joyce Carol Vincent, the lady whose was found dead several years after the event, in her flat, surrounded by Christmas presents and wrapping paper, with her TV on? Her body was too decomposed to pinpoint a cause of death. A woman who was a mixture of vivacious, beautiful social butterfly and mysterious loner, estranged from family and old friends. I have been haunted by her since seeing a documentary about her called Dreams of a Life. Her flat was located very near to where I used to live, and it occurs to me that I may have seen her around before she died.

NigellaAwesome · 02/09/2023 21:42

I thought that Ben Needham's case had been solved. Didn't someone come forward to say it had been an accidental death with a digger and they hid the body. The person only came forward after the person responsible had died I think.

I am not sure the family agree, the mother is in the press to ask if the body found recently in water could be him.

The disappearance of Corrie McKeague is the one I think of often. Although there is a very strong suspicion that he fell asleep drunk in a rubbish bin - which is just so tragic.

ladygindiva · 02/09/2023 21:45

The murder of Lynn Bryant in the late 90s . It was very near where I live and appeared to be the work of a random psychopath. Still bothers me they were never caught.

sezzer87 · 02/09/2023 21:46

I have 3 personal ones.

  1. My mum was a bike briefly in her bathroom as a child, that disappeared before her eyes.
  1. When I was pregnant with my first child, my karaoke machine that had no radio function would play an Indian radio station whenever I placed the microphone near my belly .
  1. I was doing the laundry one morning and dug my hand down in the basket to get some jeans out, and the buckle and buttons were scolding Iron hot for no reason. They'd been in there for a few days. Nobody had been near that basket or added them to the basket.

If anyone has any plausible explanation please share as I've researched high and low and cannot find answers anywhere.

Yes i remember that. It was so sad. I think his body must have ended up in the rubbish

The case of Elisa Lam who was found dead in a water tank on a ship always freaked me out as well, especially the footage of her in the lift running from something 😳 so scary

Didn't that happen in the Cecil Hotel? It wasn't on a ship. I watched a documentary on it. It wasn't the only spooky thing that happened in there either.

I'd give anything for poor little keith Bennett to be found. It's something I've always thought about. He needs to be brought home. My brain goes into overdrive wondering where he is on the moors

This one. The fact that his poor mother died without being able to bury him is without a doubt one of the saddest things I can think of.

I lost my parents as a child, but as a mum now, this is what really makes me hope we are reunited with loved ones when we pass.

excelledyourself · 02/09/2023 21:51

I suppose that's not actually scary, sorry OP!

JosieB68 · 02/09/2023 21:52

Amy Lynn Bradley who went missing on a royal carribean cruise ship in 1998.

confusedmum2023 · 02/09/2023 21:53

For me it has to be Madeleine McCann. I was at uni when it happened and it has really stuck with me. So badly handled. After watching the Netflix documentary I had such a sad feeling because I will never know what happened to her in my lifetime. I don’t believe for one second she is alive sadly, but how someone can live their life knowing they have done something so horrendous just blows my mind.

ElEmEnOhPee · 02/09/2023 21:53

Not very scary but I've always been curious about the Somerton Man case where a man was found dead on a beach in Australia with a coded message in his pocket. I just find it fascinating.

Toottooot · 02/09/2023 21:53

Renee & Andrew MacRae
Arlene Fraser
Convictions in both cases but they have never been found.

Throwncrumbs · 02/09/2023 21:53

Maura Murray… there’s a good podcast about her. Her dad has spent years looking for answers

This may have been solved. He may have been a Melbourne based Mechanical engineer named Carl Webb.
