Yep me too. I'm fed up of living on my credit card. It's awful isn't it 😭

Estelle74uk · 16/08/2023 17:19

Yup. Agree :(

How to make more money? I would be happy with extra 500 per month !! Only fans haha

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 16/08/2023 17:22

Me too, it's hard isn't it. Xx

BananaSun1989 · 16/08/2023 17:23

I'm longing for the summer holidays to finish! Cried every day over a lack of funds. Poor DD!

Same here

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 16/08/2023 17:23

Onlyfans isn't terrible, it's an option if you're really poor. And you can do whatever you need to do in the safety of your own home, assuming you have a "home" with rooms.

If only... to be young and beautiful!

You don't have to be young and beautiful, I do Adultwork when I need to. Sometimes you have to do what you need to do to get by. And if you have other options that make you feel horrified by my comment - good for you, and don't hang out on poor people threads. x

I don't feel horrified at all! I'm all for people male money in whatever streams work for them! I just want one day that isn't me afraid to open the Lloyd's app!

Make money!

Never!

Foodbanks, summer support groups, womens support groups, local initiatives all exist to help. You just have to start looking and to appreciate that we all have one goal, to ease the strain of modern living.

gamerchick · 16/08/2023 17:29

Used knickers sell for a tenner a pair. I have a friend who buys a multi pack when she needs some funds

Men provide a few ways to get rinsed.

Make sure you're claiming everything you're entitled to.

Said with the cheery optimism of someone that has never had to be reduced to the most basic levels of survival. Summer support groups only go so far. May you never have to feel that level of need. x

bonzaitree · 16/08/2023 17:57

Sounds shit OP.

you want advice or just support?

And then there will be other groups. We get different funding streams for different sessions across different times of the year.

And it is not cheery optimism. It is based in the fact that for about 30 years now I have worked in support of a whole host of community charities - from food bank to women's refuge.

I've been there, that's why I give my time. I don't have spare cash but I do find 10 hours a week to volunteer and work as a funding manager!

Don't presume, don't dismiss. OP may have a lot more support than she knows on her doorstep!

Just support and a bit of a whinge! I'm the only single parent I know so I feel I'm boring the pants off people I know in RL moaning about the same thing all the time

Doesnt the old saying go: ‘there but for the grace of god go I?’. Never say never.
Yes, it’s shit. The ‘help’ you mention is limited and variable, often if you’re in work and barely getting by you can’t actually access it.

GoodChat · 16/08/2023 18:43

Do you work?

SloaneRangers · 16/08/2023 18:59

Yep it's shit. If I hear one more thing/see one more thread that patronisingly sugests about budgeting I will scream, it's all very well saying budget but you need money to budget with 🤣 we have virtually £0 once the bills are paid.
I reckon we (meaning those on lower incomes) are the ones who are the best at budgeting, I can make a £1 stretch further than most people. It's not a case of chosing not buy Heinz brand beans, you can't economise when you already struggle to buy the value brand 😂

fullbloom87 · 16/08/2023 18:59

But this is mumsnet where everyone earns £100k a year and has £100000000 in savings 🤣🤣🤣🤣

GoingInsaneAhhh · 16/08/2023 19:00

Do you work op? Could you take on some extra work in your spare time like ironing, dog walking, cleaning. I know it’s difficult being a single mum with childcare.

im in a similar position of being skint (car trouble thats taken all my money) and feeling the summer holiday guilt! Im currently learning online, anything free (tech courses eg website building). Hoping to set myself up as a Sole Trader with HMRC and offer Social Media support and websites. Im just learning in my spare time (constantly interrupted by the kids 😆)

Hah. Yup and no debt ! Sorry but not everyone is perfect.

I used to be able to at least go clothes shopping albeit in primark. But can't even do that. Have 3 cats, and all I can say at mo is thank god for CC! People with good incomes etc will never get the struggle.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 16/08/2023 19:20

What do you work at? Perhaps people can make suggestions based on that?

TrayBaker1955 · 16/08/2023 19:23

Side hustles changed my life from this being my reality. There’s always something you can do to bring in more money
