It's a bit fucking late for them to start to rebel. They should have done that at the first rumblings of partygate and cleared out the entire front bench, not left it to hang around for ages and then promote one of the party goers.

To rebel over one of the better things that the government is actually trying to do would be insane. You pick your battles and that wouldn't be it. Lame duck Prime Minster who likes the title not the work, and his pathetic party, would rather let apathy run the country into the ground than do the right thing.

Fuckers.

Tail wagging the dog.

DuncinToffee · 15/09/2023 08:38

Just keep challenging the lies, that's all we can do at the moment and it isn't even that difficult to do.

Tail wagging the dog.

That’s been the case for years. Appeasing the ERG is the root of the shambles we’re in now.

Cornettoninja · 15/09/2023 09:18

I just can’t figure out why there are no personal consequences for these people? Why are Cameron, May, Johnson and Truss swanning around profiting off their incompetence whilst the rest of society pays the, very high, price? If there was a consequence more than carrying the personal shame of being a fuck up (which doesn’t work because they’re sodding shameless) perhaps they would have taken decisions with their own security in mind.

Wouldn’t the outline definitions of corporate manslaughter cover their failures? I genuinely can’t think of a scenario where the high risks of their actions hadn’t been made abundantly clear to them. I get that the buck stops with them and a prime minister needs to be able to make decisions that don’t necessarily have a ‘good’ option, but fuck me. Look at the country and the bad calls made on top of bad calls.

at the very, very least Truss and Johnson should be having their earnings post-office garnished, collected in the same way US ones are so if they try avoid them by moving their affairs abroad they have to relinquish their citizenship. (And bloody Kwasi)

Notonthestairs · 15/09/2023 09:23

Shame doesnt feature because they are surrounded by right wing think tanks telling them that they were robbed/misunderstood/brought down by taxi-using-podcast-listening-National-Trust-believers.
Even George Osborne told them to taker some bloody responsibility for the state of the nation and was ignored (yes that is hilarious coming from him).
I very much doubt even their local constituency groups get close enough to argue with them even if they wanted to.

Fuckers indeed @L1ttledrummergirl !

That boats thread really was quite something.

Look at the faces of the NHS staff forced to meet Sunak yesterday.

The smaller woman on the left really looks as though she wants to deck him. Good for her.

Why does Sunak wear clothes that are very slightly too small or too short? It is very odd. He must be uncomfortable.

If my boss invited Sunak to walk around and meet the time, I'd think they'd lost knave of their senses.

Who in the NHS could possibly think that their staff would be happy to see him? Maybe that's part of the problem within the NHS? Sycophantic leadership?

BIossomtoes · 15/09/2023 12:30

I think the problem is a PM who’s so utterly tone deaf that he thinks he’d be welcome in any NHS establishment. No senior manager would turn down that visit unless they were intent on career suicide.

Cornettoninja · 15/09/2023 12:48

This poor bloke looks like he’s got shell-shock

The staff in uniform also mostly look very young.

My (SNP) mp seemed to be doing a surgery just inside the front door of a local supermarket today. Well, I assume that was the intent as she was sitting at a table beside a minion. Her photo and the time she was going to be there was on a board outside the door. No privacy.

Sorry to go back to the Gove/Waterways/Housing bill but I was convinced the Government didn't whip on purpose and I am not alone. Paul Waugh commenting on the handily pre prepared Government social media campaign.

Some suggest govt lost building vs green regs vote in Lords on purpose, says @paulwaugh link.news.inews.co.uk/view/5fd23dfe2…

What a bloody waste of time and money, first in HoC and then in the Lords.

Can't they remember to do some actual effing governing rather than pissing around campaigning.

Remind me, which party is committed to abolishing the HoLs?

DuncinToffee · 15/09/2023 14:39

It has been reported as a Labour victory, not sure if that was the plan?

It is odd because he's small for a man. You'd think he'd have the opposite problem (and could afford decent tailor!)
