Yes, vulnerable under 65s will get it, just not all under 65s.

I think I’ve read it will be last year’s vaccine stock not an updated one either. We really do have the strangest ‘vaccine only’ policy on the planet.

Spooky, isn't it? 👻 Maybe we all have collective amnesia.

That must be it. Like the Mandela effect. We could call it the Johnson effect.

Cutting waiting lists update. Record high of 7.6million.

I’m listening to Steve Barclay not answering questions on the Today programs. I’m not sure we can’t give doctors a payrise because it won’t be fair on NHS workers, teachers and other public sector workers is quite the argument he thinks it is.

Bloody hell, what is the point of that?

BREAKING The backlog in Crown Courts in England & Wales has increased to a record 64,015.

In July, there were 402 more outstanding cases than in June and 4,654 more than in July 2022.

At this rate, @MoJGovUK will miss its target to get the backlog down to 53,000 by March 2025

@RafaistheKingofClay - so the argument is that everyone else is underpaid so they must all stay underpaid?

The Government has no interest in resolving the doctors strike's because the longer they go on the more they think they can shift the blame for the waiting lists. If anyone is playing politics with health & wellbeing it's the Government.

Everytime anyone doubts Boris Johnson's new hospitals an old hospital falls down.

I just checked what's happening here in Sweden. They're recommending vaccinating eveyone over 65, everyone vulnerable under 65, and everyone who hasn't been vaccinated who now want to. They're not recommending vaccinating the rest, however anyone who still wants a booster can have it.

RafaistheKingofClay · 14/09/2023 11:29

That seems to be his argument. He was asked about what he is doing to solve the strike issues. Which appears to be nothing.

I couldn’t say for sure that that’s what they are doing Iclaudine but my guess would be using up last years and saving money. It may well be that it has good immunity against a lot of the circulating strains. But given the number of mutations the new strain has, who knows. Possibly neither are a great match.

Bloke on Newsnight last night said the extra cost of providing agency staff to cover the dr's strike is now almost as high as the cost of paying the drs what they asked for.

Again

Standards commissioner finds Rishi Sunak committed a second breach of commons rules, by disclosing details to the media about investigation into his failure to declare wife’s interest in childcare firm.

Commissioner and committee agree it was a “minor and inadvertent” breach.

The Telegraph and DM aren’t happy are they? The Mail headline is just straight up lies.

Times headline surprisingly balanced I thought. I sense a bit of a thaw among some of the papers. Not much, but I guess some can see where things are headed.

That is different and will not cause inflation and I would have thought you would know that.

The reason that is different is because much of that money is not actually going to doctors, but the owners of the agencies who already have more money than they need and so will just move the money offshore and not spend it on things, thus it will not cause inflation.

There was me worried I might be bored this afternoon. Onwards!

IClaudine · 14/09/2023 12:56

It is all the same old rubbish on that thread. Meanwhile on another thread Jamie Oliver is responsible for worsening people's lives, not spotting Rolf Harris was a bad 'un and for not solving childhood obesity.

MN seems particularly batshit right now and I think it is little better than a troll farm these days (this thread excepted!).

pointythings · 14/09/2023 13:30

Is 'they get free gym membership ' on the small boats bingo card?

mibbelucieachwell · 14/09/2023 14:01

@jgw1

In fact, shareholders in healthcare agencies making more money probably has the effect of actually lowering inflation, as the shareholders, as well as moving their money offshore often invest their hard earned cash in property. Often for rental. This has the effect of pushing the cost of buying and renting up with the result that people have less disposable income. Everyone knows that having less disposable is a good thing as it lowers inflation.

That thread is completely bonkers.

The UK has to many refugees, Jordan with far more than the UK does not have enough, but the UK just took a million refugees.

I don’t think we will ever find out what those eye watering woke policies are.

Bonkers indeed
