"Those 900 beds which we should probably get most of by Jan are part of the 5000 that we were supposed to have by this winter."
Shouldn't be I know but I am quite shocked by that. For a moment I thought they might meet the medical professionals half way.
Even the Daily Mail has reported we need an additional 13,000 beds to support A&E.
"The NHS needs 13,000 more hospital beds to improve 999 response times and A&E waits, a damning report warns today.
A major shortage is putting lives at risk by slowing the rate at which patients can be picked up, admitted to hospital and treated.
The UK has lost almost 25,000 beds since 2010/11 and is now lagging behind most of Europe, according to the Royal College of Emergency Medicine's 'Beds in the NHS' report."

I don't suppose the NHS can staff an extra 13,000 beds anyway.
We will be back to headlines about lack of ambulances, overrun A&E departments and being told not to call 999. Of course its probably all happening as I type, it just doesnt get as much coverage in the summer months.
Meanwhile the AXa chief announces how much money is to be made in the UK as increasing numbers have to rely on private healthcare.
"The boss of Britain’s biggest insurer, Aviva, has said there are “big opportunities” in expanding private health cover in the UK as the strain on the NHS grows and waiting lists for treatments hit record highs."
