Whatever happened to - Timotei shampoo??

One of the biggest brands of my 80s childhood and 90s early adult hood. The woman with the long golden hair frolicking by a waterfall, and a horse (?) Huge selling brand, it was everywhere and everyone used it.

Then at some point it completely disappeared. What happened? Was it replaced by "Because I'm worth it" and the Herbal Essences woman?

Does anyone remember the soaps from The Body Shop that were shaped like animals?

Yes! I loved them. But you couldn’t use them, because then you’d ruin the shapes.. 😂

I used to use Henara henna shampoo (strawberry blonde). Does it still exist? <Googles>

I used that all the time, till John Frieda brought out his blonde shampoo. I've used that ever since, and my hair is still blonde, even though I'm 60. I think being a strawberry blonde has worked out ok for me. 😂

I'm wallowing nostalgia. Zest soap! I'd forgotten it existed. And Shield soap. I loved them both.

Anyone remember Linco Beer shampoo?

I do, it was a very early conditioning shampoo and I loved the smell!

Kizzyma · 13/08/2023 20:55

Sunsilk de Parfum was the best smell ever . Thanks for sharing that photo . Would love to smell it again . What memories x

I loved Timotei. I'm sure there was a honey version too??
I miss flex too but most of all I miss the Vidal Sassoon shampoo and conditioner that smelt of marzipan in the brown bottles 😢😢😢

I adored the Vidal Sassoon cherry almond shampoo, smelt divine
Aveda do one, I must try it to see if it's the same

Does anyone know ifPears Shampoo still exists? Was the best thing I ever used on my hair growing up....

Loved Pears shampoo

Elodie09 · 13/08/2023 21:48

Used to love the John Frieda brilliant brunette creamy gloss stuff in a tube. I can't remember exactly what it was called but it worked beautifully on straightened hair and was never sticky.

Sennelier1 · 13/08/2023 21:48

I still use Timotei shampoo, I love the camomilla version 😊 I'm in Belgium and buy at Kruidvat (comparable with Boots)

Rivermedway · 13/08/2023 21:49

I never used conditioner either, but it was standard to wash your hair twice with shampoo. I think it was in the late eighties or early nineties I started using conditioner, possibly due to having a perm.

Another favourite shampoo of mine was Empathy.

Rivermedway · 13/08/2023 21:52

And I’ve just remembered St Ives. The smell is coming back to me now.

I used the one for red hair, but I now use John Freida shampoo for redheads, it's great! I'm now 70 and my hair isn't so red, but this gives it a better colour 😊

AC2022 · 13/08/2023 22:11

I remember the Timotei advert ‘… with the fresh smell of summer meadows’. I loved that stuff, and Linco Beer, thick pale orange goo that worked miracles on your hair.

London321 · 13/08/2023 22:48

I loved flex and salon selectives I also loved one by wella in a creamy coloured bottle they had a pink lid it smelled amazing
I also remember exclamation perfume

RunAwayTurnAwayRunAwayTurnAway · 13/08/2023 23:17

Nicky Clarke did a range of products for a time. They were in aluminium bottles. I put my finger inside one once and it got stuck! When I finally managed to wrench my finger out it had a sharp metal cut around the full circumference!

SeriousFaffing · 13/08/2023 23:24

Loved Timotei Chamomile in the 00’s! Tried googling that to see if they still did the same fragrance and it took one too many goes for Google to not think that I was searching for Timothee Chalamet…

Atsocta · 13/08/2023 23:30

Loved that beer shampoo

Anyone remember Linco Beer shampoo?

Yes, used to love it. The bottle was barrel shaped.

bpirockin · 14/08/2023 00:49

Oh wow! So many memories in this thread, I have to come back, but the smell of Flex is with me now, the Vidal shampoo that smelt of almonds, Linco Beer, I'm going to go to bed smiling now. I will reminisce over the bar of Shield at my basin as I brush my teeth - I buy it in Tesco, but I'm sure I've seen it elsewhere too.

Nat6999 · 14/08/2023 01:42

What happened to Woodleigh green apple shampoo? This is what my mum always used on us except for the Derbac soap if she knew there was a nits outbreak at school.

DolphinSE · 14/08/2023 02:17

I remember being bought Mum deodorant for the first time and feeling very grown up!
Spending my pocket money on VO5 hot oil tubes was always a treat (I could be mistaken but if I remember correctly, the oil was suppose to go on first before shampoo but I mis-read the instructions and would use it after shampooing and was disappointed in the result)

Timotei was great. I remember the almond one, too, but always had the original.
Dimension is another I remember (80's teen here). That was brilliant on my then quite greasy hair! Also, I think it was called Once? An early shampoo and conditioner combined, you had to shake the bottle to mix two layers of colour together

I remember Once it was a water softner the bit you shake into the shampoo and it was the best shampoo for my hair then it was never to be seen or found again and I was gutted. My mother always said she knew the Timotei girls’s mother or friend of and that she was miserable in real life I always wondered if that was my mother making up stories because the Timotei woman seemed the vision of perfection but it could be true I suppose. I wonder if Once would be considered a good product to my hair now. I spent a fortune on shampoo as I use John Masters Organics range.
