Whatever happened to - Timotei shampoo??

One of the biggest brands of my 80s childhood and 90s early adult hood. The woman with the long golden hair frolicking by a waterfall, and a horse (?) Huge selling brand, it was everywhere and everyone used it.

Then at some point it completely disappeared. What happened? Was it replaced by "Because I'm worth it" and the Herbal Essences woman?

I remember a honey (? honey and almond) Timotei too - we were in Australia.

Was this the one in little sachets ?

I think you could get it in sachets but also little beer barrel shape bottles

Re the Herbal Essenses ad. it was filmed in New Zealand my ds and his then gf went to the waterfall and it is now tradition to take a picture recreating the hair flying back scene

Revlon Flex shampoos and conditioners (originals) along with Revlon dry skin lotion were the best products ever known to man and the sole reason I am building a Time Machine in an attempt to go back to the early 1980s and purchase thirty bottles of each and bring them back to now.

I remember the Henara shampoos - they did a blonde one too in a yellow bottle and the one for brown hair was in a reddish/brown bottle. I think Elseve morphed into Elvive didn't it?

I liked Timotei but my favourite was the Salon Selectives in the pink bottles. I really thought I was cool when I used those, and I remember them smelling like bubble gum.

GenieGenealogy · 12/08/2023 09:33

And if you were REALLY POSH you had Salon Selectives in the colour coded bottles with the numbers on.

Oh. That's burst my bubble, because I didn't.

On a Sunday night before school on a Monday I would use Timotei to shampoo then Flex conditioner, it was bright yellow and like slapping custard on your hair. I can still remember the smell of it.

The custardy Flex was absolutely the best conditioner I've ever used. It made my frizzy curls into beautiful preRaphelite ringlets.

Diddykong · 12/08/2023 09:43

I used to love organics shampoo, not the organix that's around now, they were green bottles, smelled amazing.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 12/08/2023 09:44

I loved Salon Selectives

DustyLee123 · 12/08/2023 10:03

Before we went back to school, after the summer holidays, our hair was washed in a funny smelling yellow nit shampoo. I think that because we’d been running wild for 6 weeks, mum wanted to make sure we’d not caught any bugs !

They've also bought impulse o2 back in savers

I used to love that. Tempted to give it a try 😄

Bring back Vosene!

ssd · 12/08/2023 10:17

Vosene is everywhere Grin

dementedpixie · 12/08/2023 10:17

Vosene still exists too

BeverleyMacker · 12/08/2023 11:06

Loved Finesse shampoo and conditioner too and Studio lines hair products.

Sunnysidegold · 12/08/2023 11:13

I was blonde as a kid and my mum would only let me use timotei shampoo.

I kind of miss having a limited range to choose from. I can spend ages sniffing the shampoos and conditioners in boots!

I like things that smell soapy rather than flowery though.

scaredofpate · 12/08/2023 11:19

Does anyone remember Agree shampoo? I remember my mum washing my hair with it in the late seventies/early eighties it smelled amazing!

Justlovedogs · 12/08/2023 11:23

Timotei was great. I remember the almond one, too, but always had the original.
Dimension is another I remember (80's teen here). That was brilliant on my then quite greasy hair! Also, I think it was called Once? An early shampoo and conditioner combined, you had to shake the bottle to mix two layers of colour together!

OhFFS! · 12/08/2023 11:24

What about Woodley Green apple shampoo. Loved that smell.

Busubaba · 12/08/2023 11:31

I've just remembered Alberto VO5

Try Home Bargains, B&M and Savers for Timotei and Flex.
