Whatever happened to - Timotei shampoo??

One of the biggest brands of my 80s childhood and 90s early adult hood. The woman with the long golden hair frolicking by a waterfall, and a horse (?) Huge selling brand, it was everywhere and everyone used it.

Then at some point it completely disappeared. What happened? Was it replaced by "Because I'm worth it" and the Herbal Essences woman?

I used to love garnier fructise shampoo it was the only thing that worked on my teenage greasy hair and smelled so lovely

Pushpull · 12/08/2023 22:29

I loved citre shine. It smelt amazing. I occasionally Google to see if it's come back.

I loved shaders wash in sachets too!

I used to love that. Tempted to give it a try 😄

It was my go to as a teenager.
I recently bought 4 cans in Savers 😆
Smells the same.

Anyone remember Linco Beer shampoo?

Me! It was great shampoo. My gran loved it when she came to stay.

Can also confirm 02 Impulse smells the same!

You can get massive bottles of Flex in Spanish supermarkets

Copperoliverbear · 12/08/2023 22:47

I loved woodleigh green too, smelt of apples, wish they would not keep changing things, loved flex too. X

Copperoliverbear · 12/08/2023 22:51

It's at Superdrug just different packaging now.

hecameoutroaring · 12/08/2023 22:53

I'd forgotten all about Fructis!

I remember being an awkward teenager watching TV with my parents and cringing whenever the Herbal Essences ad came on because of all the noises! 😂

Fairgrove · 12/08/2023 23:04

Loved this - it smelled so nice!

What about Woodley Green apple shampoo. Loved that smell.

Oh my goodness you've just sent me reeling back to high school!! I bloody LOVED Woodley Green Apple shampoo!! I had completely forgotten about that until now 💕

SlightlyJaded · 12/08/2023 23:13

A snip at £15.99 on Amazon

The height of luxury for me was Alberto Balsam (now about 99p a bottle) followed by the Yellow Flex.

My mum had Salon Selectives but I wasn't allowed to touch. But I did use Toners and Shaders sachets and occasionally Green Apple Shampoo. Wanted Timotei but was told Timotei and Sunsilk were 'only for blondes'.

Right while you're all about Grin
Does anyone remember a squishy soap from the body shop? It was like the consistency of jelly cubes and was a blackcurrant scent
Not a funny shape, it was a rectangle

I can't remember the name of it but I had a shower gel a couple of months ago, sniffed it and was whacked around the head with nostalgia

EeesandWhizz · 12/08/2023 23:26

I would love to go out again after using the Vidal Sassoon shampoos, elnett hairspray, pearl drops to whiten you teeth, blue mascara and poncho pink lipstick in that horrible beige tube, big hair, big plastic jewellery, huge baggy batwing shirt worn with a thin belt over a pencil skirt with white stiletto's. Dancing around your handbags was still a thing, and it cost 50p to get into the club.

EeesandWhizz · 12/08/2023 23:31

The Body Shop was such a huge thing - I remember a school trip to London and everyone piling into the one in Covent Garden and coming out with the kiwi lip balm, elderflower eye gel and bath pearls (that probably pissed off everyone's parents by staining the bath). We thought we were so sophisticated - it lost some of it's allure when one opened in the next door town!

Anyone remember Linco Beer shampoo?

OMG yes it was amazing and I've never found anything similar!

Aspergallus · 12/08/2023 23:42

I remember Flex but my favoured conditioner was Finesse. Aside from not believing in conditioner, my mum seemed to think it was really gauche/vain.

From the Body Shop, I loved the fuzzy peach range and Japanese washing grains, and the animal soaps...I also regularly bought stuff from CtG; there was a pink clay like facial wash bar that was quite good for acne.

VO5 hot oil was ESSENTIAL. Did it really live up to it's promise?

Blackcloids · 12/08/2023 23:47

GenieGenealogy · 12/08/2023 09:06

Oh I think I remember Flex conditioner too - large chunky bottles in bright 80s colours? My mum "didn't believe" in conditioner and made my sister and i have short hair until we were about 13 so we didn't ever have it - my childhood shampoo was always Vosene.

Conditioner was an absolute revlelation.

I have really fine hair yet in all my (late 80s) school pics I look like I've got wiry wavy hair. Must've been horrible to touch.

charabang · 13/08/2023 00:20

I used to like V05 conditioner- the purple one. I think it was jasmine scented. And Limara Yellow Moon body spray.

Joolsin · 13/08/2023 00:27

Was there a VO5 green apple shampoo? I remember using one but it wasn't Woodley Green. I loved Limara - always thought it was for the more edgy, rebellious of girls rather than boring Sure!!! Body Shop coconut hair gel - amazing hold and delicious smell - I was devastated when they discontinued it.

OhFFS! · 13/08/2023 11:07

@longtompot I loved CTG. From their eyeshadows that you could buy individually that fit in a circular box, their ginger perfume but best of all was the "Cocoloco shower oil". It was amazing.

Lush just isn't the same

SlightlyJaded · 13/08/2023 17:01

Oh i can't remember the brand but I had these magnetic eye shadow singles that you kind of snapped into a magnetic case and rearranged. It was so sophisticated and everyone at my school coveted it. Anyone?

DNo · 13/08/2023 17:52

I loved salon selectives. Are those still available? Had many different combinations!
