Whatever happened to - Timotei shampoo??

One of the biggest brands of my 80s childhood and 90s early adult hood. The woman with the long golden hair frolicking by a waterfall, and a horse (?) Huge selling brand, it was everywhere and everyone used it.

Then at some point it completely disappeared. What happened? Was it replaced by "Because I'm worth it" and the Herbal Essences woman?

Linco beer shampoo in a little barrel?

notsuchafrugalkitty · 12/08/2023 13:32

The Aveeno spring greens shampoo smells like Timotei, we always used Timotei back in the day. I also loved Flex conditioner and the Salon Selectives range.

Does anyone know ifPears Shampoo still exists? Was the best thing I ever used on my hair growing up....

On a Sunday night before school on a Monday I would use Timotei to shampoo then Flex conditioner, it was bright yellow and like slapping custard on your hair. I can still remember the smell of it.

I remember Flex conditioner! Would never have thought of it if you hadn't mentioned.

Anyone remember Linco Beer shampoo?

Yes! And I still miss it 😢 amazing smell and feel to it

runoutofgoodusernames · 12/08/2023 14:09

Saw some in Superdrug last week! I even took the top off to give a sentimental sniff 😂 Different bottle but still smells lovely. I too wanted long blond swishy tresses in the 80s and was gutted it didn’t work!

runoutofgoodusernames · 12/08/2023 14:10

Just remembered Salon Selectives too, that smelt fab!

KimberleyClark · 12/08/2023 14:16

And I'd 'ruined' my hair with Sun-in so I moved on to the dye in the little triangle boxes, but I can't remember the brand.

Harmony were the triangular boxes.

Flex is definitely still around.

Try the South African shops as it's still readily available here. They have expanded the range a bit since since back in the day. The illuminating range has to still be the best for making your hair shine. And it's cheap as chips too.

We still get Organics as well. In the big 1l bottle (it might be 750ml now .. shrinkflation) with the pump.

PriamFarrl · 12/08/2023 14:21

What was the shampoo that just got destroyed by That’s Life having a thing about how it left your hair all gritty?

onlymyselftoanswerto1 · 12/08/2023 14:24

Can still remember the smell of Flex, it was amazing. I also loved Supersoft Once (I think it was called but can find no trace of it online) which was two colours that you had to shake to mix them. I think that was the novelty, no recollection of if the actual shampoo was any good or not!

Protein 21 was the height of sophistication when I was a teenager. That and Ann French cleansing milk

Fructus wasn't it?. In the green bottle.

GenieGenealogy · 12/08/2023 14:30

Height of sophistication in my late teens was Cosmetics to Go mail order, which went bankrupt and re-emerged as Lush. Or Yves Rocher which did similar and was posh by dint of the French name.

And Body shop dewberry, of course.

Remember Woodleigh Green Apple shampoo?

digthoseholes · 12/08/2023 14:35

Mum wouldn't buy timotea but I thought it was the height of sophistication and used to daydream I was using it. And the same for imperial leather soap!

Sooze2023 · 12/08/2023 14:38

I've just had a mental smell journey reading all this!! Apple shampoo, Linco ...

Flex! Oh the smell was lovely. Thanks OhYouSillyDivvy for the heads up that you can still get it.

Remember Woodleigh Green Apple shampoo?

We used to have Apple pectin shampoo which my mum bought from a hairdresser friend.

Forgetmesnot · 12/08/2023 14:46

They sell Timotei in French supermarkets. I always stock up when I go there because I love the smell of it

Reggieismycat · 12/08/2023 14:49

Years ago woolworth used to sell pink shampoo in a tin it smelt lovely.

ginandheels · 12/08/2023 14:50

Does anyone remember a conditioning silk “rinse” by The Coop? Late 80s. Turquoise colour, Coop own brand. That smelt AMAZING. Please may I borrow the Time Machine to go back and get a lifetime supply? And if anyone from The Coop product development team is a Mumsnetter, PLEASE consider bringing it back!!!

A pink one?? No no no, white bottle with green writing and flowers on the bottle.

That's how I remember it 😁

Habreathmint · 12/08/2023 15:08

I loved Flex shampoo and conditioner.
