FBU wants to prevent fires. What a bunch of bastards, eh?

Piggywaspushed · 03/08/2023 10:15

Up there with the RNLI insisting on saving drowning people.

That is worrying @jgw. Still on course to win, but any slippage needs to be taken seriously. Starmer needs to up his game and be braver and less Tory lite.

Hey everyone! Haven't been on the thread much as I am busy with my new Deliveroo job.

They really have nothing to offer except badly thought out "policies" which will never get off the ground and rampant xenophobia.

Mel Stride will be proud of you Wink

I hope I read that the right way

When the cat's away

Greenpeace releases footage of activists covering Rishi Sunak's £2m mansion in oil-black fabric after climbing on to the roof of the property in Yorkshire.

Hold that beer. Think it's photoshopped. Darn.

I think that photo was faked - her expression and the terrible state of the pint were altered.

Piggywaspushed · 03/08/2023 11:01

Yes, see next post, Dammit. Still a great photo!

He’s a vile piece of work. He was on Any Questions a few weeks ago - arrogant and thick as pigshit.

Rates up -

Bank of England raises interest rates again, for14th consecutive time to a new 15 year high of 5.25%…

🚨 In new language, suggests rates will stay at these levels “for sufficiently long” to bring inflation down - an indication not to expect rates to fall with inflation

  • implication is bank rates are close to the peak but will stay above 5% across next year into 2025
  • Bank downgrades growth forecast for 2024 and 2025 to 0.5% and 0.25%… recession avoided this year, and not predicted in next couple years, but shadow remains with v low growth

The language in that leaflet is unbelievable.

Stay safe on the roads now we’ve declared war on LTNs. Wouldn’t want you to become economically inactive again because you’ve been mowed down by a fast moving vehicle.

This rings a bell. I think that leaflet was used before in Eastern region.

"Very normal: A government source accused Fire Brigades Union of a "betrayal of our country and the British people" for raising fire safety concerns. Ht @lomelindi12"

FFS.

Its a 50 year old ship and will have double the amount of occupancy it was intended for. Of course fire regulations should apply.

Since when did operating normal British values of basic humanity constitute betrayal of the British people?

Honestly, it that is the sort of thinking that is going on within government sources, these people are just not right in the head.

Notonthestairs · 03/08/2023 16:37

I think whats interesting about the report is that the anonymous government source wasn't prepared to put their name to the quote - just wanted to put out the message that the FBU were betraying the country.
Cowardly shyster whoever they are.

IClaudine · 03/08/2023 16:52

Maybe it is a good thing that the Tories continue to be utterly vile and turn off all but the most hardened posters?

IClaudine · 03/08/2023 16:55

Voters, not posters|! Although that could apply too, I suppose.
