The Conservatives are trying to persuade the electorate that they've been in opposition for the last 13 years.

Its the only transparent thing about them.

RafaistheKingofClay · 30/07/2023 19:39

My Twitter feed is a mixture of floods, fire and Rishi telling motorists he’s on their side.

It would appear that neither scientists or urban designers think Rishi is on their side.

Well perhaps they have, its not like they have any successful policies they introduced in that time to tell us about.

RafaistheKingofClay · 30/07/2023 20:17

I think you will find they have both stopped the boats and reduced nhs waiting lists. Or not.

I expect the border wall to stop the boats is nearly finished now.

That article about Winter 23/24 is depressing - we've lost 1800 hospital beds this year. Shank has promised an extra 5,000 but they actually need 10,000. And no mention of fixing the current staffing issues.

L1ttledrummergirl · 30/07/2023 21:07

Having taken dd to A&E Thursday night with an injury before someone actually looked at it 10 hours later (triage was just asking questions) I can attest to the only A&E in our 3 local hospitals being a shit show that night.

Notonthestairs · 30/07/2023 21:11

And presumably this is the quieter period in the year.
Hope your DD was ok.

RafaistheKingofClay · 30/07/2023 22:16

There isn’t really a quiet period any more.

L1ttledrummergirl · 30/07/2023 22:21

We await contact from the fracture clinic, thank you for asking

We were there from 1030pm, at around 2.30 they stopped calling anyone, except the very obvious drunk who was brought in by police and given a cubicle to sleep in for a few hours, and the guy who was shouting about the pain and given a cubicle, where he miraculously felt less like yelling.
The patient with chest pain and the one with an obvious infection tracking up his body, both self discharged after 7hrs of waiting to be seen. Apparently they don't have the staff to actually treat patients through the night.

At 0700, a staff member went around the waiting room and did everyone's observations (took about half an hour), then at 0800 another nurse called a register and then 2 of them started to repeat everyone's observations. When they were told they had been done an hour ago, they said they needed to do them to check the patients were all still alive- they had been sitting there for 10 hours with no care!

Honestly, it was like a dystopian farce. I thought I'd gone down a rabbit hole.

So looks like the Tories are all in on the anti-environment campaign now 🙄
Rishi being baity about flying too

I honestly don't know who is going to vote for this.

At least 100 new oil and gas licences for North Sea - Sunak - BBC News

Rishi Sunak says it's "important we get energy here at home" as he also announces a new carbon capture scheme.

Pedallleur · 31/07/2023 08:19

No mention of water companies/sewage? Motoring is an easy vote winner. He doesn't have to do anything, just say he is on the motorists side. HS2? Don't mention that. His rich mates haven't got all their money yet. Oil and gas? More money for the energy companies, sorry we are securing our future.

DuncinToffee · 31/07/2023 08:27

On the news just now they were mentioning the positive news of Carbon capture only to mention new oil and gas licences just after.

I fully expect Sunak to don a Stetson and cowboy boots next.

Don't suppose anyone was listening to BBC Scotland?

"Amazing clash on Radio Scotland between presenter Martin Geissler and Rishi Sunak, who confirmed he is taking a private jet to Scotland to make his, er, green energy announcement today.

The PM bizarrely accused him of wanting to ban people going on holiday. Extraordinary stuff."

They are getting ever closer to the US GOP.

Piggywaspushed · 31/07/2023 08:54

I am bamboozled as to which focus group they gathered exactly who told them that 20mph zones are the enemy and scarpping them is some huge vote winner.

Notonthestairs · 31/07/2023 08:55

I think it's another sign of how much the Conservatives follow right wing media rather than setting the agenda.

I was reading the AIBU thread on this last night and was genuinely surprised how many posters had problems with driving 20mph

Lawrence Fox is whining about a ticket. If this is really who the Tories are courting, all hope is lost.

Notonthestairs · 31/07/2023 09:04

Thank you - read the article didn't occur to me to click the links 😳

Tetchy wasn't he.

Clearly instructed in advance to suggest that any opposing view meant they wanted to ban holidays.

newnamethanks · 31/07/2023 09:21

Sunak touting for the Pollution Party. We want more filth and plenty of it. And we want it now. Defies reason but they voted for Brexit so why not add some more insanity to the mix and see if they buy it. *ers all of them.

Kiwano · 31/07/2023 09:26

This is all just nutty and somewhat desperate. Sunak is now clinging desperately to the drivers' vote because of Uxbridge, whilst closing his eyes to the fact that they only won Uxbridge by the skin of their teeth and it would be way more profitable to the Tories to analyse why they lost so much of the Uxbridge vote and why they lost the other two by-elections so spectacularly badly.

But none of that matters because THEY WON UXBRIDGE. Don't go confusing things by taking facts and analysis.
