It's fatcat lefty lawyers again, innit.

He spent a fair amount of time trying to blame Penny Mordaunt, blaming everyone else, taking responsibility for nothing.
He really is low life. Saying how awful it is that those involved had been let down by previous governments, then letting them down again.

I got the impression from today that he gets everyone else to do the work, then swoops in to take the credit while absolving himself of blame. I also got the sense that Mordaunt has been a driving force for the families to have got anything so far. I haven't heard enough to know if I'm right though.

Has he not noticed that he was a minister in the last two governments, and that the Chancellor of the Exchequer bears rather a lot of responsibility for decisions that directly dictate what other departments do?

Blossomtoes · 27/07/2023 10:21

I see that the truly awful Tory candidate for Mayor of London is accusing Sadik Khan of misogyny for getting rid of the utterly incompetent Cressida Dick. God help London if it ends up with someone as dim as this in office.

Notonthestairs · 27/07/2023 10:44

"Nadine Dorries' local town council writes to her to raise their "concerns and frustration" at the "continuing lack of representation for the people of Mid-Bedfordshire at Westminster". They demand she "immediately vacate" her seat and allow someone else to represent the area."

No nonsense letter from Flitwick town council.

Of course Dorries can't resign until she caused her own party maximum trouble by promoting her book about Johnson at their conference.
She's a bit of a gift to opposition parties.

Nothing to do with her & the Mets track record then?

Piggywaspushed · 27/07/2023 10:49

Straight out of the Dorries copybook that one.

Flitwick Town Council call for Nadine to stand down...

Flitwick is a large village/small town (yes that could start a war!) which is not remotely a hot bed of socialist values.

And Braverman has lost her third court case of the week - this time the High Court have ruled the routine housing of unaccompanied child asylum seekers in hotels is unlawful.

It's the new Revolutionary Clydeside.

She's not had a constituency surgery there since 2020. That's pretty disgraceful.

Notonthestairs · 27/07/2023 14:28

I'm losing track of how many cases Braverman has lost. Wonder how much this is costing us.

Getting rid of somebody for incompetence is novel for Tories. It usually means promotion. so I can see how it might look like misogyny when people get rid of a woman for something that ought to get her a promotion.

Meanwhile SK hasn’t been building enough houses in the capital. According to Sunak whose party haven’t been building enough houses around the entire country.

Is Sunak confused because he thinks London is the entire country and therefor Khan is in charge of the country?

Vastly outweighed by all the absolutely awful things about the illegal migration bill but this is a little bit funny.

OECD allows countries to use their overseas aid money to support asylum seekers and pay hotel accommodation for them for 12 months. Now they are not asylum seekers if they arrive on small boats, the OECD has indicated it isn’t going to allow the U.K. to use that money to detain and deport them. Which gives the government a problem. Claim they are asylum seekers and use the overseas aid budget to pay for them but be unable to deport them. Or say they are not asylum seekers and have to find a different budget in order to detain them and still have to pay the same amount in overseas aid.

From what I’ve heard from politicians recently, I’m fairly certain the Tories are sure Labour have been in charge of the country for the last 13years. How else could all our problems be Starmer’s fault.

I read this earlier and meant to post it then. Now seems like a good moment. We’ve got the run up to the election we don’t yet have a date for of this shit.

I'm still not convinced that London needs a mayor

Blossomtoes · 27/07/2023 16:22

I don’t live London so I really don’t care. Having said that it was excellent that Khan got rid of Cressida Dick who should never have got the job in the first place. What an embarrassing that the first female Met chief constable was so woeful.

The UK has had a Prime Minister in name only (PMINO) for many years now. There is very indication that this is not a very good idea.
