I've just been listening to Spotify at work in the office and the new song "0800 Heaven" has come on and I'm sat blinking away the tears...not really sure why.

The song "The Christmas Shoes" ALWAYS makes me cry (lyrics).

What songs give you that unintentiomal teary feeling?

Also to perk the thred up a bit, what song if you listen to it, just gives you a really happy feeling?

The Grave by Don McLean. The lyrics are reminiscent of Owen and Sassoon war poetry. So powerful.

Jesus to a Child by George Michel.
Knowing now that he wrote it for the love of his life who only had a short while longer to live, makes even more poignant.

Annie's song - John Denver. Reminds me of my mum, who is alive and well but still makes me teary!
Runaway train by soul asylum. I listened to it on repeat as a teenager the week my dad died and just listening to it takes me back there.
A thousand years - "I have died every day waiting for you" literally couldn't listen to it during years of IVF, it became me and the baby who kept eluding me's song
Tightrope - "some people long for a life that is simple and planned ...but I risked it all just to be with you"...one awful pregnancy which nearly killed me but resulted in the baby who is my heart and soul! I cry every time I hear it.

@Crushedrosy Oh, we must be similar age. I'd forgotten Skeeter Davies The End of the World. My first break up song that followed a break up. My last was I'm not in love 10cc - following the breakup of my first and true love.

The show must go on by Queen, was my moms funeral song at the end. Still can't listen to it 16 years on.

Many, many hymns - I am an athiest with a large Catholic family, so I only really hear hymns at funerals these days. Just the organ can set me off. Ditto carols

I'm Cornish. I can't sing Trelawny (Cornish national anthem) without crying. I'm able to hear it without though, to the great relief of my teenage children.

The Drugs Don't work, by The Verve. Reminds me of both my parents, and the time during their cancer treatment. I'm not quite sure what the song is written about but the words remind me of a very desperate time.

Oh yes that She Used To Be Mine song - we took teens to see Waitress which was quite good but this song next level - Dh started crying in the theatre!

I’d forgotten about Eternity. Beautiful song. That bit gets me too.

2 songs make me cry. 'I love my life' by Robbie Williams, when he says 'I may not be there for all your battles', it really gets me in the gut.

Oh my goodness I haven’t listen to Love Song For A Vampire for years! I had it on repeat for so long, strange how you just suddenly forget a song.

Dont Dream It’s Over, that’s another one that has me going.

Everybody wants to rule the world - not a tearjerker as such but the lyrics are quite hard hitting. The Lorde version really brings that out.
