I've just been listening to Spotify at work in the office and the new song "0800 Heaven" has come on and I'm sat blinking away the tears...not really sure why.

The song "The Christmas Shoes" ALWAYS makes me cry (lyrics).

What songs give you that unintentiomal teary feeling?

Also to perk the thred up a bit, what song if you listen to it, just gives you a really happy feeling?

@mushroo .. can't believe we share the same cry songs. I need to listen to your happy ones to see if we are in fact the same person Smile

TheaBrandt · 04/07/2023 12:33

Pretty much any carol live esp Silent night. My teens won’t come to carol services with me anymore.

I know you by heart by Eva Cassidy.

Mushroo · 04/07/2023 12:35

@PurpleFresias no way! Haha.

My happy ones are similarly eclectic!

Songs that make me cry: Wires by Athlete, Silence by Dave Thomas Junior (used on the After Life soundtrack, it's heartbreaking 😢), In The End by Linkin Park (obvious reasons) and Then by The Charlatans.

Happy songs: One Way by The Levellers (takes me back to being 16 and getting ready to go out on a Saturday night) and Monkey Wrench by Foo Fighters.

The "grocer jack" one. It makes me so sad.

Anthony and the Johnsons - I Hope there’s someone

Home by Gabrielle Aplin

Something in the lyrics makes me think of my mum, who died literally decades before the song was released.

Also Into the West by Annie Lennox.

Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
The night is falling
You have come to journey's end
Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
All Souls pass

Hope fades
Into the world of night
Through shadows falling
Out of memory and time
Don't say
We have come now to the end
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again
And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the West
