In the voice of Cpl Jones.

"Don't panic Capt Sunak"

"Hold your nerve"

"They don't like it up em".

I think we only know the very tip of the iceberg - they've had 13 years to embed themselves.

Sorry for misnumbering this thread, I can ask MN if they can amend it as suggested by Cornettoninja assuming that doesn’t mess with posts or listings.

Shouldn't worry.

Just fits with the current inflation rate 😉

Well the Stephen Lawrence programme on BBC1 doesn't cover the Met in glory. Unsurprisingly. Especially one C Dick.

DuncinToffee · 26/06/2023 22:29

Shocking but not surprising.

'Hold your nerve'. I expect people would rather hold onto their homes.

But a man can live on nerves alone, as long as they hold them enough like the great Rishi.

Mr McKinley, con mp for south Thanet can't provide evidence that the new illegal immigration policy will have a deterrent effect on today's R4 news programme, unlike the academic who is pointing to concrete examples of safe routes discouraging dangerous channel crossings. Gamely though, Mr McKinley is putting himself in the shoes of a would be illegal immigrant and deciding that it's obvious that the new policy will have a deterrent effect. Even though the evidence suggests it won't.

borntobequiet · 27/06/2023 08:12

Yes McKinley seemed very confident that he could “put himself in the mind of a migrant”.

Dolt.

oh dear, what is Sunak going to tell nurses now

https://twitter.com/IMFNews/status/1673287590865412096?s=20

Rising corporate profits were the largest contributor to Europe’s inflation over the past two years as companies increased prices by more than the spiking costs of imported energy.

The deadline for ballot returns for the RCN was Friday so really hoping for a result this week.... hope it's a strike and watch sunack squirm under headlines like that

I do think most people know this deep down it’s just not made it to the top of current affairs conversations - mostly because of the constant drama of incompetence and smarminess of the cabinet. It wouldn’t have made a difference anyway I suppose.

I was baffled to be with a small minority in my outrage at energy companies for one posting record profits whilst our tax pots were decimated to meet their demands. Bloody record profits for christs sake.

L1ttledrummergirl · 27/06/2023 11:24

Hancock being torn apart at the covid enquiry. He knew the UK wasn't prepared, but did jack shit because he was assured by the WHO that we were "among the best prepared in the world".
Our own tests said we weren't able to deal with a pandemic but he preferred to listen to someone blowing smoke up his arse.

He also comes across as an incompetent middle manager micromanage, incapable of dealing with more the one issue at a time, or deal with the big picture.

I think we knew that already though.

Very interested how this SPAD refuted the allegations 7 years ago when they weren't raised at the time Confused

(Sorry, don't often post on these threads. I do follow them a bit... but my bruised forehead can't take much more...)

Had Inquiry on in the background - don't know what I'm more flabbergasted at - the fact it can now be acknowledged that covid is not like flu or how so many resources were redirected to dealing with Brexit at the expense of other vital work.

She is mistaken its not difficult to justify at all.

  1. I don't like foreigners
  2. I dont' want the likes of them coming here taking our jobs and living off our benefits.
  3. People dying in the Channel makes me feel bad because I am compassionate.
  4. They are foreign, so sending them somewhere in Africa is fine.

@DuncinToffee thank you for the new thread.

I wonder if we'll ever be able to gauge how much the Brexit folly will have cost us down the line?

Simple.

Profits in the NHS didn't rise by enough so nurses should be paid less.
