How much delay will this incur?

What an utterly ridiculous state of affairs.

SNAFU

DuncinToffee · 01/06/2023 17:28

Also from the Adam Bienkov thread

Despite Boris Johnson's claim yesterday to have suppled a "full and unredacted" archive of his Whatsapps, the Cabinet Office says what he sent only covers some of the pandemic.

They also say they have removed "unambiguously irrelevant" material from them

True to form

What a mess

This feeling will last until the first story breaks about something that’s mysteriously not in the ‘complete and unredacted’ documents that Boris has given the CO.

This was not supposed to be this difficult, was it? The parliamentary standards inquiry is specifically aimed at wrongdoing. But the covid inquiry will obviously flag up some of the suspected wrongdoing in contracts while having a much wider remit in terms of learning from this pandemic for the next one and looking at what went wrong and what worked. I don’t thing it was supposed to catch them out doing something hugely illegal. Although it is investigating the most corrupt government in living history so it would be quite difficult to find nothing illegal.

How’s that feeling now? Nearly 24hrs was good going.

SNAFU

I had to look that one up, but I will start using it now, thnaks.

While Boris Johnson has passed lots of WhatsApps to the Cabinet Office, they only date from May 2021 onwards - when he got a new phone.

None of the messages before then have been shared

Still waiting for the what happened to the phone excuse

OP posts:
tobee · 01/06/2023 17:48

All the definitions I've just looked up of messages tell me that other people receive them. So Boris Johnson "losing" his phone does not matter. Because a record will exist on the recipient's phone.

DuncinToffee · 01/06/2023 17:51

Yes but it is still dodgy as fuck to lose government business because you change your phone, alledgely

I am sure Chris Witty has a full record...

Dylan ate my phone. Lulu Lytle wallpapered it. Swapped it for a fridge. Etc etc.
what a hot mess they all are.

And to think this is costing UK citizens money!

May as well just burn £ on Number 10's lawn and have done with it.

They are delaying the inevitable. I suppose they are hoping to cut a deal.

TokyoSushi · 01/06/2023 18:00

Both nuts and fabulous all at once!

Notonthestairs · 01/06/2023 18:01

And I don't want to read "unambiguously irrelevant" one more time. ITS MEANINGLESS.

DuncinToffee · 01/06/2023 18:12

Very true from Jess Phillips

Funny this is not how they feel about rape victims giving away all of their data

The statement shown on this link

BREAKING: Rishi Sunak who promised a new era of "accountability" and "integrity", is now taking the Covid Inquiry to court in order to avoid handing over all the ministerial WhatsApps it requested.

Who set up the covid inquiry?

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/06/2023 18:14

Chris Whitty will definitely have them. He was absolutely making sure in some of those press conferences that he wasn’t making the decision so Boris couldn’t pin blame on him.

The messages in the days around any press conference where he used the phrase ‘the scientists don’t make the decisions, politic a do’ would be interesting. I’m pretty sure it was code for this is a terrible course of action it’s only going to end one way. Oct to Dec 2020 would be interesting.

DuncinToffee · 01/06/2023 18:15

Sam Coates

May 2021:

The month Boris Johnson announced the Covid inquiry

AND

The month Boris Johnson got a new phone

He still has the phone.
It's not lost.
He just hasn't handed it over.
Despite the fact he was conducting Government business on it (against policy?) he's claiming it's private.

PS 👀🚨

As @SkyNewsThompson also points out, it’s also politically helpful that the inquiry vaccine module is suddenly being moved up so it features as we go into the election next summer ….

… rather than the 🥶 hospital module which has been pushed back to next autumn, …

… or 😨 the care home module which has been kicked to 2025.

Boris Johnson’s phone number ‘listed online for last 15 years’
Reported 30 April 21.
Hence phone swap.
He's probably still using the old one!

That might be because they believe their own hype. They did phenomenally well with the initial procurement and the NHS did really well with the jabbing. But the wheels came off somewhere between May 21 and July 21 because they somehow cocked up procurement of further doses.

I can’t quite remember what it was they didn’t do that they should have done. The vaccine section may not be quite as positive as they hope for.

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/06/2023 18:32

Obviously it isn’t going to be as bad as the investigation into how successful putting a protective ring around care homes was.

Agree. I remember a really good explainer (maybe from Phil Syrpris) that revealed that after a strong start we lagged behind in vaccinations and had to limit who we could offer them to.
