They scare me too @pointythings. On my list of concerns they come a very long way down.

DuncinToffee · 01/06/2023 15:27

I recognise a few of those names, derailing threads with their single issue vote. One of them has gone from asking who to vote for to absolutely hating Labour and now Lib Dems Hmm

Rishi Sunak doesn't rule out legal action to avoid handing over unredacted docs to the Covid inquiry.

Speaking in Moldova, he says the government is "confident in its position" and is "carefully considering next steps".

We have heard those lines before.......

"As the parent of a disabled young person, the trans issue is way down my list of important things."

Yes that where I am too. A healthy economy and decent public services are top of my list because without those things our society only becomes more fractured, generally at the expense of the most vulnerable.
Thirteen years of conservatives have shown they are can't or won't provide either of those things.

40 new hospitals news. Barclay tells parliament work on 2 hospitals has started. Hospital trust involved says it isn’t aware of any work.

They don’t have the money for it and haven’t even applied for approval yet. Difficult to see how Barclay thought this could be underway.

Andrea "Middle Finger" Jenkyns has joined Net Zero Watch.

"She is the latest high profile figure to ally with NZW’s parent organisation, the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF), which is the UK’s principal climate science denial group and part of the Tufton Street network of free market think tanks. Jenkyns, the MP for Morley and Outwood, will join NZW’s board, according to a <a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230531103347/www.netzerowatch.com/andrea-jenkyns-mp-joins-net-zero-watch-board/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">press release.
Earlier this month, Allison Pearson, the Daily Telegraph’s chief interviewer and a columnist at the newspaper, joined the GWPF board, where she sits alongside Conservative peer Lord (David) Frost and former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott."
The group campaigns for more fossil fuels and against green energy.

Chair of the Net Zero Watch board is Neil Record.

"Record is a major Conservative donor, having given nearly half a million pounds to the Conservative Party since 2008. He has also funded the GWPF. In February, Record donated £10,000 to Steve Baker, a former GWPF director now serving as Minister of State for Northern Ireland."

So that's nice.

Telling porky pies?
Well that fits -
Conservative Post or Home (I can't remember which) was suggesting Barclay had maintained lots of support from Tory members and is a contender for next Tory leader.

Does Barclay mean that he has been to a meeting with wine and cake about the hospital and so there has been work done on it?

Woke hideously early a couple of days ago and a radio presenter was running through possible topics for phone ins. "Trans row? No, I'm not doing that, not enough people are interested in it". So perhaps, as you say, small in numbers, loud of voice. I find it odd that a miniscule percentage of the population finds it appropriate to bully all opposing views whilst, at the same time, claiming to be oppressed and silenced.

L1ttledrummergirl · 01/06/2023 16:28

I know the standards committee is busy, but are this government really so determined to have everyone investigated for lying, what are they afraid the standards committee are going to find?

DuncinToffee · 01/06/2023 16:35

4.30pm, anyone knows what the CO has decided?

Nothing. The standards committee will search high and low and find absolutely nothing. That's what the government are scared of. There's not a single standard among them to be found.

I thought the standards committee were only looking firBoris’s standards. Or have I got confused between all the enquiries.

Cabinet Office confirm they're defying the Covid Inquiry and launching a Judicial Review

Grin impeccable timing

Notonthestairs · 01/06/2023 17:20

"Oh, game on. This is exciting.

The government is seeking a judicial review so that it can refuse to provide materials requested by the Covid Inquiry.

And, wonderfully, the government is relying on the Human Rights Act and Article 8 - which they want to repeal and restrict."
