All those people who have defended and enabled this man!!!' 🤬😡

DuncinToffee · 23/05/2023 19:40

Sir Michael Take

A young dad.
Loved by all.
His fragrant wife expecting.
He was our porridge
Our jelly
Our trifle.
He nearly died for us.
And this is how ‘The Blob’ repays him.
How BBC ‘Verify’ repays him.
How ‘bullied’ civil servants repay him.
Please:
Can we pray for Boris Johnson tonight?

UPDATE: Privileges Committee say they will take this new evidence into account when they decide whether or not Boris Johnson misled MPs. It is unlikely to help his case.

Little something that cheered me right up: One of our Tory councillors complaining that after the local elections, the independents who got voted in teamed up with Labour to form the administration that will run our local council. He was all pouty going 'See, vote Independent, get Labour'. And he posted that on FB. So far it isn't going well for him and I'm here for it.

Apparently his team says it's obviously all politically motivated and he all rules were followed at all times.

Who here thought he'd say anything else? No one.

RafaistheKingofClay · 23/05/2023 20:05

Can we just have a general election now and put us all out of our misery? Spending the next 18months watching Tory infighting about an election they are going to lose is not going to be fun. Much better to watch them do it on the opposition benches.

CabernetSauvignon · 23/05/2023 20:16

I'm told this came about because the government pays Johnson's legal fees for the Covid inquiry.

He handed over diaries to lawyers, and as the client the Cabinet Office got to see them - leading them to refer the issue to the police.

There is something positively poetic about that. He's caused himself a massive problem which he could have avoided just by paying for his own lawyers. I've rarely enjoyed reading something more.

NEW Conservative right wing MPs are gloomy tonight with Suella Braverman’s future in the balance and Boris Johnson being reported to the police.
One blames the Whitehall ‘blob’ saying: “We are like being gobbled up like we are in Pac Man.”

I actually quite like that pac man quote.

It's very accurate and a good visual description.

Johnson gets stitched up by his sister. ‘All the rules were followed whenever I was at chequers’

I think you being at chequers was rather the point Rachel.

Johnson is in Las Vegas. I'm sure he's there working hard on behalf of his constituents.

Meantime rumblings online from right wingers that Sunak should put a stop to the latest police investigation. Which seems like a very level headed sort of reaction.

Aww, poor babies.... Maybe don't lie, break rules and act like corrupt little conmen if you don't want to be gobbled up?

Oh, of course, everyone in the Cabinet Office should make themselves complicit in Johnson's (possible) transgressions. Why wouldn't they want to risk their jobs and reputations to assist his deceptions? Unfathomable.

PM's diary is government business isn't it? Not sure that threat will hold. But I guess they've had to come out with something otherwise they'd look weak & foolish. Now they just look desperate & foolish.

tobee · 24/05/2023 00:08

So if he sues are we paying again? 🤔

RafaistheKingofClay · 24/05/2023 08:05

I’m surprised we haven’t seen it already.

Inflation figures not great. Expect a lot of Tory spinning about the headline figure going down. And not much mention that it’s gone down less than expected, food inflation is still19% and core inflation has risen.

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2023 08:09

You've heard it all when someone on tv tried to defend Johnson with "don't forget he nearly died. When he went into hospital they were trying to decide what priest to call he was that bad"

He also mentioned "he didn't even get to eat the cake".

Any arguments coming out nowadays from Tory supporters all appears to be minimising their actions rather than any hard evidence of any good action and outcome they've taken.

Roussette · 24/05/2023 08:37

I'm afraid to say I don't believe a word of the 'he nearly died' story. He wasn't intubated. He was poorly no doubt, but I just don't believe it.

There is no good action. Someone on the Braverman thread asked the usual suspects what has she actually done that is good.
Crickets.

Notonthestairs · 24/05/2023 08:38

Apparently lots of Johnsonian Tories warning Sunak that if he doesnt stop the 'witch hunts' they & the members will take action against the Government. It's all anonymous sources obviously.
So they threaten Sunak but not so much as they will come out and do it publicly. Afterall they might want a job at some point.

I agree the timing of the story is interesting - but only so far as it was bloody obvious that his movements at Chequers should have been reviewed months ago.

Notonthestairs · 24/05/2023 08:39

I think the riot occurred after fairly specific circumstances. That is not to say that those circumstances can't or wont be repeated elsewhere however.

I thought, perhaps wrongly that it was now accepted that his admission was precautionary and therefore reasonable - not a life or death situation

But maybe that's not correct

DuncinToffee · 24/05/2023 09:09

Toddler tantrums and shades of Trump

Steven Swinford

Boris Johnson allies up the ante and warn they will obstruct Rishi Sunak’s government unless he intervened to stop what they see as a ‘witch hunt’

They say it’s the ‘final straw’ for Johnson and warn that MPs and members supportive of former PM will begin organising
