She can just find another job if she can't afford the insurance or maybe take in ironing Wink

One certainly should be able to. Especially if one has a ministerial car and you need insurance for your own car.

That gave me a much needed laugh 😁

Guessing this is neither of your MPs. My money’s on 30p Lee or Gullis.

Penny Mordaunt, Tom Tugendhat, or Johnny Mercer maybe. I don't think for a minute it's my MP.

RafaistheKingofClay · 21/05/2023 22:26

Should be easy to narrow it down by listing the current MPs not mired in corruption.

Although it would be hilarious if it was May

jgw1 · 21/05/2023 21:36

There's a cost of living crisis you know.
Can one claim car insurance on expenses as an MP?

If she was that concerned, she could have tried staying within the speed limit.

L1ttledrummergirl · 21/05/2023 22:51

Does May even know twitter exists?

I can't believe how stupid some of these Ministers are. i.e.Sue Ellen

Her SPAD was asked on 4 April about a speeding offence. He denied it four times and said someone was spreading misinformation

If she'd taken the points, or a speed awareness course all this would've died down.

I did 36 in a 30 (in my defence, it used to be 40, big wide road, didn't know it had changed, hadn't been there for years) and it is very easy to either take the points or book a speed awareness course. And yes Braverman, your insurance does go up. Is she a bit thick or something? Why does she need help sorting this?

Obviously, she tried to wriggle out of it and was testing the water by contacting the civil service.

RafaistheKingofClay · 22/05/2023 06:50

That’s the same as partygate though. If they’d just gone ‘yes, there was a party, it wasn’t the only one. We’re sorry we shouldn’t have done it’ I think it would have died down. Instead there were ridiculous denials, and Pippa Crerar & Paul Brand got up release an advent calendar of parties keeping the story going. They don’t seem to learn.

Did the police actually manage to arrest anyone who was attempting to disrupt the coronation ?

‘It was utterly surreal’: police accused of farcical error after 14 arrested at seminar on day of coronation

Primary teacher and ex-civil servant were among those attending class. Here they recount what happened

Prevent training includes animal rights organisations on its list, so the above article doesn’t surprise me. The Met (all police forces, no doubt) must have done little cartwheels of joy when the legislation came in, because arresting middle aged people who support animal rescues is much easier than addressing knife crime, antisocial behaviour and burglary.

RafaistheKingofClay · 22/05/2023 07:39

I have a friend from an African country that I won’t name but it’s not well known for its liberal democracy. He used to tell horror stories of how the police would just slung you into custody for 24hrs for no reason just because they could. I know we’ve had similar stories with young adults we support as a church in the same country.

Amazing to think that within 10 years of my friend telling me that story we’ve reached that place.

She only broke the law in a limited and specific way, so that is alright.

Yeah it isn't a good look when the Home Secretary who is also a lawyer apparently knows nothing about policing or the law Confused

Nah, far too humorous and self aware for that.

Notonthestairs · 22/05/2023 08:00

She was Attorney General at the time.

Net migration figures out Thursday. Expected to have risen by a record amount. I do wonder if the Home Secretary wants to put some distance between herself and Sunak.

RafaistheKingofClay · 22/05/2023 08:02

Looks like I may be out of physio in time for home secretary’s questions this afternoon. Should be a good one. 😂

I have seen that being suggested by various sources on SM

Around 10 years ago, dh and I were running for a train along with many others, when one of the platform staff hauled him off the train for keeping a place for me (I was slower). When we objected politely for this, along with others who were being allowed to board, he told us that if we didn't walk away immediately he would call the transport police who would lick us up for a few hours just because they could.

We had dc to get home to so left, but complained to management who shrugged their shoulders. I've avoided Bristol stations ever since.

While we were sitting waiting for the next train, we were asked to complete a customer satisfaction survey. That went well for them.🤣

Locking innocent people up for a few hours because they can, isn't anything new.

Did wonder whether launching a probe into Braverman might be a bit harsh. Then I considered how she treats asylum seekers.

If a probe is to be launched into Braverman, I'd like the orifice and speed to be made public.

Did you mean to make a post about launching a probe into Braverman's orifice 😳
