I think the phrase is "She's running".

Post local elections it's now all about the next leadership race.

Its not a serious policy and it's certainly doesn't represent good long term government.

Like everything else she announced it's basic messaging designed to get Braverman's base excited.

DuncinToffee · 15/05/2023 08:54

Yes, she is on the campaign trail

I'm sure you're right @Notonthestairs she's on the news again today criticizing the government.

Notonthestairs · 15/05/2023 09:05

I suspect she'd quite like Sunak to sack her - give her a chance to distance herself further the current Government and provide her the martyrs crown. Obviously she'll need to wrench that off Johnsons head first.

DuncinToffee · 15/05/2023 09:06

She is speaking on the National Conservatism conference which is different to the Conservative Democratic Organisation conference, in case you can't keep up Confused

Braverman will have competition in the who can announce the most foolish, unworkable, impractical & expensive policy category -

DuncinToffee · 15/05/2023 09:32

The Mail is running scared with their latest Starmer is trying to rig the next election by allowing EU citizens with settle status to vote

Have they reported on the voters turned away because of not having the right ID in the local elections?

Is National Conservatisam some kind of close relative of National Socialism?

There are safe Conservative seats stilll, well that is certainly newsworthy.

It can be abbreviated to Nat C's..........

found on Twitter, I am not that smart

I was about to say you can legitimately shorten them to NatCs though but see @DuncinToffee has already given us that.

What the jeffing fuck is the Conservative democratic organisation. Is that like the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea I.e. about as democratic as the nazis were socialist.

Notonthestairs · 15/05/2023 10:38

Interesting thread 🧵- the conference is funded by US think tanks (with a fair whack of Russian money I'd guess). And yet the Conservatives seem desperate to appear there.

"Welcome to the National
Conservatism conference - aka NatCon London 2023. Despite speakers including Suella Braverman and Jacob Rees-Mogg, this isn’t a Tory party event. It’s a moveable annual gathering of low tax populist nationalism run by a US think tank"

twitter.com/peterwalker99/status/1658017797778145280?s=46&t=Uw4lJNwxFZFnX0Xs3doHYg

This stood out to me -

"Cates seems to be arguing against no-fault divorce, as well as, interestingly, against the two-child benefit limit. As we have heard before, she not a fan of more childcare provision, saying mothers should incentivised to bring up children."

How anyone can argue against childcare whilst simultaneously doing absolutely diddly squat about housing & CoL or recognising that not all women want to be at home I don't know.

Barefoot & tied to the kitchen sink comes to mind.

I wasn't sure if I should post it as it might upset the 'silent majority' but then they choose the names and Nat Con is not much better.

Someone must have been having fun seeing those names being selected.

I think you are starting to understand why it is so important for some people to know what a woman is.

Conservatives in the Uk are huge fans of democray which is why if they ever change leader whilst the leader is Prime Minsiter they go to the country in a general election at the earliest opportunity.

EXACTLY! This is why I get so annoyed by the "at least the conservatives know what a woman is" left wing voters thinking of switching.

Yes. The conservatives knowing what a woman is, is not a positive thing

It’s also why reforming the uk’s undemocratic electoral system to make it more democratic is number 1 of Rishi’s top five priorities. And they absolutely didn’t screw the Lib Dems over with a shit referendum on it when they were in a coalition.

Meanwhile I’ve discovered the CDO’s website. There’s a lovely section on ‘positive news that you don’t hear on the BBC or other MSM.’ Very little mention that most of these thinks are minuscule improvements to things the Tories have completely fucked up over the last 13 years. Like NHS waiting lists.

It's also not even true. This is a party who nearly gave us Penny Mordaunt as PM, and may yet do so before the next GE.

RafaistheKingofClay · 15/05/2023 11:52

There’s room for at least two more PMs before the next election. They should make Corbyn leader of the Tory party before they go just for shits and giggles.

The rate they hold onto leaders at, it'll probably be him soon enough.

I’d vote for you jgw1. You may have an issue with some people taking you a bit too seriously though even if you But Jeremy Corbyn though.
